"Small, Nice, but Unlucky"
The room is simliar to a hotel I stayed at near Times Square -- small, neat, and at the heart of where I needed to be. It's not new, it's not updated, but it has what you need. Nice, clean room, with a cute little bathroom. Unfortunately we were in a room facing the L train, which didn't cause any issue with my wife and I during our sleep since we're […] used to a little white noise/TV, however, our stay was interrupted by about a half-dozen drunk coeds who were doing something at 3-430 AM in the halls of the hotel. The walls are pretty thin and we were near the elevator so we caught most of their drunken stupor (they called the front desk who came up to their room because they wanted to know where to go to eat). Other than that, the hotel had everything we needed and the staff was accommodating. Would stay again and just cross our fingers we didn't get dominated by drunk dummies again... "Clean and very Comfortable in City setting"
Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Was under constuction as being remodeled in entry way and main areas so not best time to be there but shows lots of potential as being modern hotel in old building- atmosphere veclack rage yet modern. You could hear trains as located next to station and busy area but all part of city experience. We enjoyed our […] stay Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Could not sleep a wink!"
Hotel is in a great area but next door to elevated rapid transit railroad tracks, so it's noisy, but the noise from the roadway in front of the building is even noisier - yelling, laughing, and screaming all night long from area party goers. Could not fall asleep - the hotel is cheap for a reason! Rooms are really small, but there was a fridge and DVD […] player which was nice. They need better windows to block the noise. Lobby looked like something out of the movie Matrix - in process of being updated. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not close to must-see sights"
Certainly not walking distance to the Navy Pier - GPS said closer to four miles away. Hotel was adequate for the price. Parking was several blocks away and expensive. Breakfast and room was good. Hotel is currently undergoing renovations, so should look much nicer in the near future.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Comfortable with modern amenities but vintage charm. Thin walls and squeaky floors above. Remodeling in processs during our stay but still very comfortable. Nice room layouts and very charming. Would stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room and hallway were nice and appeared clean. Lobby was small and less attractive/ outdated compared to room. Street noise was apparent - my room faced Walton Street.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"great stay, we will go back!"
We were impressed with the room, the friendly staff and very convenient location (we went to a show at the Vic Theater, just steps away from the hotel.) The complimentary breakfast was another appreciated perk. Great stay!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel but not a good area."
I wish our experience would have been better because the room itself was nice and clean and the gentleman working the front desk was wonderful, BUT the neighborhood draws a crowd that did not make good neighbors. The walls are too thin so we heard people coming in and out all night and could smell what they were smoking through the walls. The train […] is nearby so we could hear that coming and going as well. Overall, it was just OK. I had booked a queen room that was supposed to have dual shower heads in shower. Neither was true. I got a double full room. The beds were small and not that comfortable. The floor did not seem very sound in a few places. One of the front desk help, sorry, I didn't catch his name seemed bothered if you stopped to ask him anything […] and forget trying to get us the room we had booked. He said we got a free upgrade and I said the bed was too small. He told me to check back in the morning. Of course he had finished his shift. I should have pushed it but decided not too, so that is my fault. I thought the price was high for the quality of the accommodations and when I return to Chicago, i will look for another hotel. It is very close to the train and that was a positive. Decent restaurants are within easy walking distance and quick access to the train gives you even more options. The hotel is in a great location, but still very overpriced for the age and condition of the hotel. I'm sure you're paying for location but you can stay downtown in a much nicer hotel with larger rooms for alot less and just cab it. The staff was very nice and the rooms were very clean. The free breakfast was adequate and nice to have coffee out for […] the whole day. We enjoyed the location, just very overpriced in my opinion. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great staff...nice room!"
We stayed at City Suites (me and my 12 year old son) for one night since we were going to a game at Wrigley Field. The staff was REALLY nice and helpful. The room was comfortable, especially the bed. I usually have problems with pillows at hotels being too fluffy, but I was very comfortable at City Suites. The train noise did not bother us. My only […] complaint would be that whomever was staying above us was very noisy both late at night and early in the morning. It did not bother my son, but I am a light sleeper. The parking lot is about a block away, so we left our bags unattended when we arrived and departed in the lobby area and they were fine. The continental breakfast had many options. Not fancy, but very clean hotel in a great location. Walk to Wrigley through a safe neighborhood, or catch the EL right outside your door. Great place to stay to see Chicago. It exceeded my expectations.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great location in Chicago."
This hotel is located right on Belmont street not far from the lake. Although very close to train tracks, our room was extremely quiet. To park, you pull up in front of hotel to unload and register. You then move your car to another location about 1 city block away. Parking is $22 per day. The 2 full bed suite we had was very comfortable. there is a […] charge for wifi and movie channel access. The breakfast was sparse but there are excellent restaurants for breakfast close by. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I chose this hotel out of proximity to a place where I needed to be. I stayed here one night. I did not realize, when I booked this hotel, that it is RIGHT NEXT to the El. My room was close enough to the El I could hear the CTA people on the loudspeaker all night along with the brake noise from the trains. The door to my room had no chain--just the […] regular lock that any member of housekeeping or maintenance could enter with a key. This hotel is also hard to find--I drove by it 3 times before I realized where it was. It's a small, very old neighbrhood hotel. It is close to a lot of unique shopping and Wrigley Field. Also, the front desk staff were very friendly. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Wrigley location"
Loved the location with plenty of places to walk to including taverns and eating establishments. Short walk to Wrigley for a night game and felt safe walking back. Very close to train (little loud at times) but didn't need the train this visit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Excellent location literally just steps from the Belmont (red/brown/purple lines) L stop, and in the heart of Sheffield/ Clark/ Belmont/ Halsted area which is a vibrant neighborhood and on the edge of Boystown. The room was clean and comfortable. I did have some noisy neighbors on my floor who woke me up one night although it didn't last long enough […] for me to complain to the front desk. We stayed at the hotel for a short weekend and to go to a Cubs game. The hotel was great. We loved the location and the room was very comfortable. We would recommend the hotel, and plan to go again. "Had to work to get a nice room but it was worth it"
After we unpacked we realized the dead bolt lock on our room door did not work. We called the front desk and requested a room with a working lock. At first the guy at the desk told us that we had nothing to worry about with the broken lock because the key card lock still worked but we insisted we wanted a working lock. So he moved us to a new room which […] was a smoking room and really stank. We again requested a new room without the smell and with a working lock and we finally got it. So after two moves we were happy but I think that we should have gotten our request for a working lock right away without an argument. The room was very comfortable though the view was of a brick wall. I liked the fact that the room had a ceiling fan which kept it at a good temperature at night though there did not seem to be any way to adjust the temp to make it cooler. It was also nice to have a separate sitting area. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

great comfortable placeGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a great spot if you've got a big group/need lots of room. We needed three beds and I was prepared for a tight fit with a roll-away. I was pleasantly surprised to find two spacious rooms, with two double beds and a comfortable pull out couch. Having lived in Chicago for many years, this didn't seem like the most desirable location, but it's quite […] secure (they lock the doors after 9 pm) and they gave us a room away from the train. So, I can't speak to how noisy some of the other rooms were. And it couldn't be more convenient, being steps from the L. All of the staff was very accommodating and friendly as well. Room was clean, but very small. Close to the Belmont CTA stop, so could hear the train announcements. TV only got 8 of the 30+ stations. When I reported that to the front desk, they didn't seem to care. It's only selling point to me is that it is close to where my son lives.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location, location, location--and friendliness"
We stayed here because we had tickets to a game at Wrigley Field and it's a half mile walk from the hotel. This hotel reminds me of our favorite tourist hotels in Paris - small but more than adequate. Our room, a king suite, was large and comfortable. Some might be bothered by the noise of the L just a half block away but we loved the convenience of […] having it so close and the noise goes with the territory. The continental breakfast was delicious and there was plenty to go around. In the afternoon a plate of cookies appeared in the lounge area--a nice touch. There is parking offered for $22.50 a night with unlimited in and out. There was nothing not to like and we will be back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Excellent overall...the room was a bit small but the location more then made up for thatGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Building old but pretty clean. Bed a little on the soft side. El (subway) stop about 100 feet from front door, and Wrigley Field just a few blocks away. Interesting, diversified neighborhood, but felt safe. Hotel breakfast not much. Hotel parking in a garage around the corner and on the expensive side ($22/day). Room was surprisingly quiet.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room was small but very clean and comfortable. It was very quiet at night even though next door to train tracks. Front desk clerk was not friendly and appeared to be bothered by any questions asked. Housekeeping was professional and helpful. Great location. We will stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We recently stayed at City Suites for a long weekend and I would definitely stay there again. The building is older but it is maintained nicely and was very clean. The rooms were pretty small but very clean and extremely comfortable. If your room faces the train there is a lot of noise but once the window AC unit is turned on it drowns out all of the […] noise. The location was perfect for us right in the heart of Boys Town conveniently located to lots of restaurants and all of the bars that we were interested in going too and right next to the train which was wonderful. The breakfast was pretty basic but perfect for something quick if you are in a hurry. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel was a great surprise! It's about 30 feet from the subway and within walking distance to wrigleyville and Lincoln Park. The rooms were huge and the included breakfast was great. "Can't beat the comfort & convenience for the price"
Enjoyed the hotel stay... I was seeing a concert around the corner at the Vic Theater. Walking distance to theater. Great area for shopping used bookstores, record shops, vintage clothes. Wonderful array of pubs and restaurants. Red line in walking distance to explore other areas of Chicago.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Charming and conveniently located"
Tip: park in the garage at Belmont & Sheffield; it's very close-by, and cheaper than the hotel parking. The hotel service once we got inside was great, and our room was really cute and clean. I like that you can open the glass blinds in the bathroom window and get some fresh air. It was styled more like a tiny apartment than a hotel room, and felt cozy […] and comfortable. The bed was awesome...my boyfriend and I both slept like the dead. There are dispensers by the sink and in the shower with very decent soap, lotion, shampoo/conditioner and body wash. And this place couldn't be in a more convenient location. Lake View is a a great neighborhood, with tons of shops, bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. Plus it's like 20 feet from the train! I would definitely stay here again, no question :) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was within walking distance to the venue, restaurant and parking. It was comfortable and clean. The desk clerk on our arrival got argumentive with me about parking. I had prepaid parking not associated with the hotel and he did have abit of trouble grasping that fact. Other than that we had an outstanding time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was there for 2 nights. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable and parking was available close by.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Noisy and Hot"
I can't add much that other reviews haven't commented on, except this: In addition to the extreme noise from the El train and our upstairs neighbors that kept us us up all night, our room was about 85 degrees (in the middle of February) and we didn't have access to any temperature controls. It was literally stifling heat, even with the fan on (window […] couldn't be opened because air conditioner was there). The combination of noise and heat made it extremely difficult to sleep. However, like other reviewers, we found the staff kind and helpful. To maximize your comfort, ask for a room on the other side from the El train and expect that it might be a quirky experience. "Bang for Your Buck"
It was really the location that sold it, the staff wasn't overly friendly but all in all it was a good time. The parking garage they use is abut a 3 block walk away from the hotel. That would have been helpful to know prior to getting there (lack of research on my part). As other reviewers have noted the train station is right there and it runs through […] the night, though I personally didn't find it distracting. Rooms were super small and the floor creaked above us from the occupant walking around. But it was clean, comfortable and the right price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Lakeview location"
The parking situation was odd. You don't park right at the hotel, but you have to find somewhere to park (or hope you get a spot in one of the 15 minute loading zones) while you go check-in and get the pass for the parking garage around the corner. The room was nice and clean. A little dated and the bathroom was teeny, but overall I felt comfortable […] in it. The real bummer of the stay was that our room (on the third floor) felt like it was IN the El station. We could hear, clear as day, the announcements being made at the station and the trains themselves. We slept just fine, but it was distracting. And more than just background noise. But the location can't be beat. We were there to see a concert at The Vic and it was just around the corner. Which is why we picked the hotel in the first place. Great location for people who want to explore the Lakeview area during their stay. And the nearness to the El station has its upside, too :) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This is a great place to stay! Wonderful neighborhood and close to several train lines (Belmont station). Breakfast is fine, likely what you would expect for a free breakfast. The staff is amazing! They make you feel like you belong there. The ONLY issue is noise. This is an older building, so you can hear a lot of what is going on around you. We brought […] ear-plugs and that worked just fine. I would DEFINATELY stay here again!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Incredibly convenient location Just off the "L" line. A good place to stay if you are visiting DePaul University. Clean room. Helpful staff. Safe walkable neighborhood. Will come back and stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Not a bad place to stay for the night. Parking kind of sucks, costs extra if you use their garage option. Room was WAY SMALL. Hardly any room to move around but it was clean. Train noise wasn't too bad at night. Good place to stay if you're in town to catch a Cubs game, its walking distance.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
