"Great Hotel"

"The Only Place to Stay in Lincoln"
I was looking for a hotel in this area and Hotel Lincoln was recommended to me by my boss. It was a lot less than hotels downtown and other hotels in this area didn't seem like they were all that great. The junior suite I had was great, 2 bathrooms and spacious. The bed seemed a little too firm at first but actually sleeping on it was very comfortable. […] The rooftop bar and lounge is amazing and in the warmer weather it is a hotspot for sure. "Great stay"
Overall this was a very nice hotel with excellent service and restaurants. Location had a great view of the lake and the rooftop bar was fantastic. Everything was lovely - from the hotel staff to the decor throughout the entire hotel. The rooms are a little small, but the decorator did a fantastic job of making them comfortable and not feeling cramped at all. Great views of Lincoln Park were a nice bonus. "Once Again We Had A Great Stay"
We stayed at the hotel in October and were really pleased to find 5 months later that the hotel still has its fun vibe and the same helpful staff. The coffee shop crew is terrific and remembered my order after the first day. Also I love the door/valet crew - they are working their behinds off in the February cold smiling and joking, but always courteous. […] The front desk is helpful as are the housekeeping staff. Loved the location near Old Town/Lincoln Park. The wall of "Thrift Shop" art was entertaining and made me smile each time I walked by it...very fun decor. Our room was small but the bed and pillows were quality. The only complaint was an issue with hot water. This is a lovely alternative to higher-priced, soul-less accommodations on the Mag Mile. The new decor is funky-kitchy-fun, the standard rooms are small but attractive and clean, and the the lattes in the coffee shop are on par with Caffe Streets or Intelligentsia (yes, I'm a coffee snob). "Great ambience"
The hotel wasn't a great deal to look at from the outside. It's just another tall brick building in a neighborhood, but once you step inside, the ambience is really nice and different from the norm. The room was small, but functional. Thankfully there are flat screens for TV's nowdays because I'm not sure where they would have even put a tube TV in […] the room before. I did check out the lounge at the rooftop which had a nice view. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The window heater/ac in the room was ok, but was kind of loud so when it would turn on you'd have to turn up the tv and when it turned off you'd have to turn the tv back down again. The problem was the heater turned on/off too often to where I eventually just turned it off until I went to bed. None of the things I've listed were disappointing in any way and were only a minor annoyance. The ambience of the facility and friendliness of the staff made up for everything and I would definitely stay at this hotel again on another trip. My mom, sister, grandmother, and I found ourselves in Chicago for a family wedding and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the very charming Hotel Lincoln. Their staff is beyond friendly and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. The hotel is about a $35 cab ride from Midway, and a $6 cab ride to Michigan Avenue. We NEVER had a problem catching a cab […] at the hotel. We visited Chicago in January so didn't do too much walking but the hotel is within walking distance of several restaurants. "super for second city students"
i was there for classes at Second City which is 3 blocks away.. They gave me a discount and a super spacious room on the 11th floor. i had asked for a quiet room with a king size bed after reading that some of the Queen rooms were small. They redid the whole hotel last year and its really nice and modernly furnished. Good restaurant on premises for […] breakfast, etc and the rooftop lounge is great with amazing view of the park and zoo. They couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. My bathroom light bulb burned out the second day i was there. It was fixed when i got back that afternoon. I didn't even have to mention it, housekeeping took care of it. Elevators were not a problem, there are three, only one is designated for the rooftop lounge at night. i never had to wait. I forgot an item in my room and they immediately located it in lost and found and shipped it to me next day, calling with a tracking number for me.excellent and courteous service from start to finish! Very cute! LIke other reviews stated, the rooms are very tiny. There were a couple charges I did not expect. Dog friendly, meaning you can bring your dog for $35. Parking a block away is $28 for the night, valet is $44. Great location. This was our first stay at the Hotel Lincoln in the Lincoln Park area of Chicago in December 2012. We have stayed at other hotels in Chicago but this was by far the best! We have a daughter living in Lincoln Park and the hotel's location is perfect for getting around Chicago. The CTA Bus 22 is a 1/2 block away (takes you right downtown), the 156, 151 […] are a block away, perfect location. You can use a parking valet or we parked for free on the street (Stockton, which borders the Lincoln Park area) for the 3 nights we were there. The Hotel Lincoln staff is great! Everyone from the front desk staff, valets, restaurant staff, maintenance, laundry, greets you and asks how your stay is when seeing you in the hotel. We were upgraded to a junior suite when we checked in instead of what our reservation was for. The front desk said "if you are staying with us 3 nights you might as well stay in comfort." The junior suite was fantastic! A king sized bed, living area with couch, chairs, desk, 2 bathrooms all immaculate and decorated in the funky style that the Hotel Lincoln is known for. There are plenty of restaurants to walk to on Lincoln, Clark and it's an easy walk to go visit the Lincoln Park Zoo. "Not quite a 4 star property"
Compared to other hotels in the 4 star category, this rating is a push. The Old Town location is great. However, if you're visiting Chicago for the first time, you may want to be closer to popular tourist spots. We secured a very good promotional rate through another website, so we didn't feel bad about the price we paid. The most glaring error this […] hotel makes relates to service. My husband had already checked into our room and I drove checking later. Upon pulling up to the valet, I was greeted by a guy who watched me struggle with several bags over my shoulder, in my hands and under my arms, never asking if he could help - really???? I managed to get through the door and dropped everything on a valet cart at which time a bellman showed up and asked if he could help and apologized for not being there. The junior suite has some nice details, but some others that left us scratching our heads. The 2 bathrooms were a huge plus, but not necessary. There are window unit heat/ac which are understandable since the building is very old, but one was missing the trim (really shoddy). Our main complaint relates to service. Most hotels at least acknowledge when you come and go, but the front desk staff seems to be oblivious - no people skills.
