The Hotel 71 overlooks the Riverwalk at the busy intersection of Wacker Drive and Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Ill. This property stands three blocks across the river from Magnificent Mile shops and one-half mile from the Loop central business district.
Hotel Features.
This contemporary hotel, renovated in 2011, presents a stainless-steel façade, and a patio and showcases a lobby furnished with custom-crafted, deep-purple sofas with leopard-print backs. The hotel's 24-hour business center houses three computer stations and offers print services. A total of 6,500 square feet of function space accommodates events. Complimentary wireless Internet access is provided throughout the hotel. The complimentary, 24-hour fitness center offers Chicago River views and is equipped with cardiovascular and weight-training machines, free weights and yoga balls. On-site and in-room spa services (surcharge) include body and facial treatments, manicures and pedicures, and spa treatment rooms for massages (advanced reservations required for massages and spa treatments). The hotel also features a restaurant with bar and city view, and serving daily breakfast (surcharge), lunch, dinner, and a children's menu. A garage parking with valet service is available for a surcharge. An airport shuttle service is provided (airport transfer must be requested 48 hours prior to arrival). Other services on-site include tours/ticket assistance. Rain umbrellas are available on request.

This 39-story property offers 357 contemporary guestrooms. Select rooms are individually furnished with animal-print lounge chairs and beds with golden-beige checked coverlets and pillowtop mattress. Bathrooms feature granite-topped vanities. Superior Rooms feature dark-wood furnishings, pastel fabrics and chocolate-brown lounge chairs. These rooms are nonsmoking and feature flat-screen televisions. Premier Room bathrooms contain dual vanities and separate tubs. All accommodations provide 37-inch flat-screen TVs, iPod docking stations, refrigerators and coffeemakers. Rollaway beds and microwave available upon request.

Hotel 71 has a 24-hour fitness center with free weights and cardiovascular and strength-training equipment.
The hotel is six blocks from Lake Michigan, where guests can walk, jog, or bike along a 20-mile lakefront path. Oak Street Beach, 1.5 miles away, is popular for sunbathing and swimming in the summer. Within six miles of the hotel, the Sydney R. Marovitz golf course offers a challenging and scenic nine-hole course along Lake Michigan.

I stayed on the 36 th floor.The view was spectacular. the noise from the remodeling was minimal. There was no cold water at the bathroom tap, only tepid to warm. the note left for housekeeping was not addressed. We three had no washcloths at first , then we received 2, never a third. We were traveling with a group of 4. I must say that we all agreed on how much we enjoyed our stay at Hotel 71! The staff was very accommodating to us. When we asked for directions or for some extra items, they were delivered right away! The room was so clean and inviting. I loved my stay here at this wonderful and beautiful hotel. For the price I paid for my room was well worth the cost. We got upgraded to a river view room because our room had a handicap shower with no curtain. They were quick to move us and the view was AMAZING!!! "Walls are paper thin"
Overall the hotel was ok. The location is great; right on the river and a block from Michigan Ave. The worst part of my stay was the noise level. I might as well not have had a door on my room as it sounded like everyone was in the same room with me. I was a little disappointed in the fact the Hotels.com did not list parking charges for this hotel. It was very expensive to park your car. $49/night. Hotel 71 is smack dab in the middle of everything! Its an easy walk to Magnificent Mile Shopping area and attractions such as The John Hancock Observatory and Theatre District. Hotel 71 is conveniently located at the heart of downtown Chicago and is close to most if not all major attractions. Metro/Matra/bus and tour tram stops are within walking distance. Their staff is very friendly and they upgraded us from a city view with one king bed room to a river view with two queen beds room on higher floors with no extra charge. […] All we had to do was ask. Great location right off of Wacker and Michigan, which is in between Watertower and Millenium Park (walking distance to both) The room I stayed was great with 2 comfortable beds and a nice bathroom with two separate sinks. The room was spotless and very comfortable. While we were very satisfied with the location and the rooms at Hotel 71, we were a bit disappointed at the jack hammers humming when we were trying to check in, but understand that remodeling is in process. We were in town for a music festival and chose the hotel based on how close it was the the State-Lake L station. We had a river view king and the view was great. Being so close to Michigan Ave was nice for resturants and shopping as well. The room was clean, room service was prompt and the food from Hoyt's was good. That said, there were only a few […] minor things that could be better. There was no mini fridge, which seems like a no brainer. We were quite confused by the lack of this. The bathroom didn't have a blow dryer, so my girlfriend wasn't very happy about that. Last is the channel selection on the TVs was abysmal. It worked out though because we just streamed Netflix off of the free WiFi, which was a big plus. Overall it was a great room for the price and the location couldn't have been better for us. We would stay again, with one change. We had a room right by the elevator and were woken up a number of times in the middle of the night by noisy guests. I recently stayed here while on a quick trip to visit friends. I flew in to Midway and took the orange line to a stop just a few blocks away from the hotel. When i checked in and got to my room, the first thing i noticed was how spacious it was. I booked a double room and there was easily room for another queen bed. The service was excellent, the beds […] were comfortable, and the spaciousness was incredible. One thing though, the walls seemed a little thin and when i wanted to sleep in one morning, there were people yelling down the hall and i could hear them clearly.
