The Hotel 71 overlooks the Riverwalk at the busy intersection of Wacker Drive and Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Ill. This property stands three blocks across the river from Magnificent Mile shops and one-half mile from the Loop central business district.
Hotel Features.
This contemporary hotel, renovated in 2011, presents a stainless-steel façade, and a patio and showcases a lobby furnished with custom-crafted, deep-purple sofas with leopard-print backs. The hotel's 24-hour business center houses three computer stations and offers print services. A total of 6,500 square feet of function space accommodates events. Complimentary wireless Internet access is provided throughout the hotel. The complimentary, 24-hour fitness center offers Chicago River views and is equipped with cardiovascular and weight-training machines, free weights and yoga balls. On-site and in-room spa services (surcharge) include body and facial treatments, manicures and pedicures, and spa treatment rooms for massages (advanced reservations required for massages and spa treatments). The hotel also features a restaurant with bar and city view, and serving daily breakfast (surcharge), lunch, dinner, and a children's menu. A garage parking with valet service is available for a surcharge. An airport shuttle service is provided (airport transfer must be requested 48 hours prior to arrival). Other services on-site include tours/ticket assistance. Rain umbrellas are available on request.

This 39-story property offers 357 contemporary guestrooms. Select rooms are individually furnished with animal-print lounge chairs and beds with golden-beige checked coverlets and pillowtop mattress. Bathrooms feature granite-topped vanities. Superior Rooms feature dark-wood furnishings, pastel fabrics and chocolate-brown lounge chairs. These rooms are nonsmoking and feature flat-screen televisions. Premier Room bathrooms contain dual vanities and separate tubs. All accommodations provide 37-inch flat-screen TVs, iPod docking stations, refrigerators and coffeemakers. Rollaway beds and microwave available upon request.

Hotel 71 has a 24-hour fitness center with free weights and cardiovascular and strength-training equipment.
The hotel is six blocks from Lake Michigan, where guests can walk, jog, or bike along a 20-mile lakefront path. Oak Street Beach, 1.5 miles away, is popular for sunbathing and swimming in the summer. Within six miles of the hotel, the Sydney R. Marovitz golf course offers a challenging and scenic nine-hole course along Lake Michigan.

Because they are wood and have a bit of a gap at the bottom, they do not muffle the hallway noise very well. "Great Hotel - Great Price!"
We had a great stay at Hotel 71. Our flight landed at MDW about 800am - amazingly the staff was able to accomodate our early arrival. We were in our room by 930am! We stayed on the 16th floor with a city view room. No real complaints about the room except.. we set the thermostat on 65 (I am pregnant and can't have it cold enough!) However, the room […] never got below probably 70. The only other complaint is that the walls must be thin - we didn't hear anyone next door (because we were between the ice machine and stairs.. both of which we heard) but we heard everything that was going on in the halls at all hours. The bed was SO comfortable and the staff was very accomodating. Maid services did a beautiful job cleaning the room and the front desk staff was always friendly. We picked Hotel 71 based on the location, price & many positive reviews of the hotel -- we could not have been happier. We ended up with a corner room that had both city and river views on the 36th floor and they were spectacular. The front desk and the concierge were immensely helpful, at one point they helped us order late night pizza after missing […] dinner and being caught in a rainstorm and then the next night ran a microwave up to our room so we could reheat the leftovers. My only two complaints are that the building is relatively old so there are only a few elevators to service quite a few floors and the shampoo and conditioner they provide in the rooms is below the quality level of the rest of the hotel, so bring your own (my wife insisted I mention the second item). This is a great hotel that has a few internal issues. The doors to the rooms slam quite loudly and can be heard in every room on the floor. This is an upscale, quaint hotel in the heart of Chicago right on the water. No need to hesitate. Great room, nicely appointed, and very clean. "Hotel 71 - Great Stay in the Loop"
This was my girlfirend and I's second time staying at Hotel 71. Once again we left satisfied. From the valets, to the doormen, to the front desk and cleaning staff, everyone was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location, within walking distance of many great restaurants as well as the House of Blues. Only had a city view this time […] which is still nice but pales in comparison to the rvier view. The king beds are so soft and comfy and the room had a nice layout. On the top floor of the hotel is a sweet ballroom with 360 degrees worth of spectacular views of the city. The elevators stop going up there late at night but if you don't wait too late, maybe in the after midnight but before 2am time period, it's possible to get up there and enjoy the spectacular night time views with your significant other and not be bothered by other guests. We've been up in the ballroom both of our stays and it's always been one of the highlights of the stay. Overall, Hotel 71 is just a really good hotel. They try to be swanky and upscale a bit but it still has some old school charm to it. I would reccommend Hotel 71 to anybody I know who is looking for a good weekend getaway in Chicago.
