Residence Inn by Marriott Chicago Downtown Magnificent Mile

When the Seneca Hotel, an older suites-style hotel was converted to apartments, we were searching for a replacement site with both a downtown Chicago location and cooking facilities. The Residence Inn is our new go-to hotel!

This was a great hotel for us because we were in town with family members and needed to get around the city and still have access to the sights of Michigan Avenue. My husband and I actually lived in this building when we were first married and before it was turned into a hotel. The hotel staff let me see our former apartment! They were very nice to […] be so accommodating. The breakfast was the best I've had included with a room. There were lots of choices and the food was very good. The only downside is that there are only two elevators so it gets a little congested at times. We were all pleased with the hotel, the room, the location and the staff. We were on a one night shopping trip to Chicago. The staff were very helpful and informative. The room was a small suite with one bedroom, king size bed, fold out couch, and a small kitchen that had all the necessities. The only problem we had was that the hotel and room were very warm. Very well located property near Michigan Ave and the Lake. Full one bedroom suite with living room and kitchen (full refrigerator, stove, dishwasher). The hotel and staff were very pleasant and the rooms were very large and comfortable. The free breakfast buffet and evening dinners were such a nice extra bonus. The unfortunate thing that happen to us during our stay was that circus members were staying in the room directly above ours and when we retired at night it sounded like they were going to […] come crashing through our ceiling. We only found out that it was the circus after my husband called the front desk to complain and when he did, he was told it was circus members. We feel they were probably practicing some type of tumbling act. This happened th next night also winding up around 2 am. We were not asked if we would like to move to another room. We did arrive early for our check in and while our room was not ready, the hotel accomodated our luggage while we ventured out of which our room was ready 10 minutes later. Read more

On a positive note, the hotel staff was very nice. When we found that our room did not have an oven, they quickly moved us to another room that did. However, it was a little annoying that they told me in advance that my room included an oven. We had already unpacked everything before we realized that it didn't, so we had to repack everything up. But […] I was happy they were able to accommodate us, and the new room was slightly larger. Another issue was that the remote control in the main room did not work properly. The remote in the bedroom worked fine, but anytime we tried to use "On Demand" nothing ever happened. Not impressed with the hotel service. check-in was 4pm. We arrived at 5 and had to wait 30 minutes to check in. Toilet was not working. We called front desk; they sent someone up. He supposedly fixed it. Within 20 minutes it was not working again. Had to call again. The second time it was fixed. Never received maid service the first full day we were […] there. Had to call to get towels, etc. Recieved maid service the 2nd day we were there, but never got towels the third day we were there, even though we got maid service. I wasn't sure what to expect from the hotel really but the staff was very friendly and hospitable, the room was very nice, clean and newly styled with a kitchenette and digital flat screen TV, my one complaint is that they still utilize the old Lodgenet system which makes new use whatsoever of the higher quality digital TV, nor does it allow for plug-in […] of external devices as even with open ports, the menu options are all inactive, something that can be a bit frustrating, ESPECIALLY if you are a designer and need to display from your laptop. As I said though, MINOR complaint and one I did not deem to affect the overall score. Read more

The maids are very good here, we would trash the place the night before and we went out and about the next day, we would arrive back to a clean room. We stayed here for 2 nights. The staff was very nice and the motel was well kept. We had no problems here and will stay here again. The only thing I would suggest to them is to put in a revolving front door. They currently have an automatic sliding door that is directly in front of the elevators in the lobby. This hotel was just a short walk to Michigan Ave, the famous Water Tower Shopping and the John Hancock. The room was comfortable and updated. The morning continental breakfast was great. We stayed during the Chicago Marathon and they were VERY accomodating to our needs. I would rate our stay 5 Stars!

I believe this hotel were once condo units and it felt that way. We were a couple of blocks off of magnificient mile and close to Navy Pier. The hotel is off the beaten path, but at night, it was very quiet and sleeping wonderful. This was our first time using this hotel and we will go back.

We arrived in Chicago early in the morning, and although our scheduled check in time was 4:00, the front desk staff offered to call if the room was ready early. They did end up calling to let us know the room was ready earlier than 4:00, which was really nice. The room was very clean, the furniture was comfortable and having the full kitchen was a […] definite bonus. The complimentary daily breakfast buffet was pretty good, and the night we arrived they actually had a complimentary dinner buffet and happy hour going on. Hotellet ligger bara ett stenkast från Hancock tower, och jätte nära till Magnificent mile. Rummen är verkligen jätte fina, jag skulle inte tveka att bo här igen! Däremot kan jag säga att frukosten kanske inte var den bästa!
