Located one block from the famed shopping of the Magnificent Mile and the John Hancock Center, and two blocks from Oak Street Beach, the Hilton Suites Chicago Magnificent Mile is an ideal destination for discerning visitors to Chicago, Ill. The location of this hotel was great, right near Water Tower. Staff was all very polite and nice. Room was clean, and beds were comfortable. However, several of the springs in the pullout sofa bed were busted. Which meant there was a huge dip in the couch, making it very uncomfortable to sit on. I was in need of some real time R and R...... I didn't like the jack hammering above my head in the middle of the day when resting. When I did ask the front desk about it, they just said it would stop at about 5 and start again in the morning.......... Nothing was said about this when checking into our room. We stayed 4 nights in a king suite. This was our second stay. The suite set up is perfect if one of you needs to hit the hay early. The sink, fridge, micro, and coffee maker set up made breakfast easy. We found the staff very responsive. It was fine for the kids but the rooms were smaller than I expected. The pool was terrific and much nicer than I would have expected. The gym looks big but is really two rooms not connected and half of the treadmills (only 4 to begin wih) were out of order. The hotel is terrific for those wishing to be in the Water Tower area. Parking is very difficult in the area (valet is $55/night and slow to get your car). There are cheaper in/out garages in the area but they fill quickly. We had a problem with our room being sold out at check in. This hotel is in a great location in downtown. The room was small for a suite but very clean. The tv's get basic cable with a few premium channels thrown in, and there is a mini fridge and a microwave. "Disappointed and unapologetic"
My reservation was for a non-smoking room with a king bed. Upon my arrival, I was given the choice of a smoking room king (unacceptable) or double beds (not even queen size). When speaking to the manager, I was told that since I reserved through Hotels.com, it was only a "request" for a non-smoking king. But when I asked if I would have been given that […] room if I reserved through the hotel, I was told that I would not and it would still only be considered a request. I asked for some accommodation for the inconvenience and was offered free wi-fi, which I declined, but feel should be free at all hotels. The room itself had a big piece of missing / torn carpeting. I found the remote control for the tv under one of the double beds. The bathroom has no fan or heat lamp (the bathroom floor was freezing). The manager told me that I could speak to the sales department in the morning about some future accommodation for my inconvenience, but I informed the manager that if the hotel was interested in having my business in the future, she should have the sales department contact me.
