As a former 10-year Chicago resident and near-monthly traveler back to the city, I generally grab the best deal on a great hotel downtown (Loop or Mag Mile) that I can find on hotels.com. HI-Express Mag Mile might just have finally made me pick a favorite. Service was lovely, attentive, welcoming. Free, full breakfast and 24-hour coffee. Free in-room internet. Yes, the rooms are postage-stamp-y (think Club Quarters), but very cute/mod and well-maintained. We stayed 11 nights at this lovely hotel in the centre of Chicago, we had a pleasant stay. Staff was very helpful and friendly, especially the breakfast crew. The only problem we faced was the room temperature. When we arrived, the room had 15 C, and it did not heat up until the next morning. We are light sleepers, so we could not leave the heating […] on at night, it is very noisy.. But then we found out if we heat the whole day, it reaches 23 C in the evening, then we turned it off and in the morning we had 16 C, brrrr... Of course if someone can sleep well in spite of the noise, the heating is no problem. Also, the windows were leaking a bit. Liked the small boutique hotel feel; however the room was a bit small... with not enough plug ins (they need to put in power strips to plug in electronics, phones, computers, etc.), no refrigerator, no fan in the bathroom but other than that the beds were comfortable and the room rates were reasonable for a city hotel room. Our room was small, but cozy, with updated decor. The bed was comfortable with a variety of pillows from which to choose, so was able to find one that felt like my pillow at home. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. Any special request was attended to immediately. T.V. reception was good, as was the wifi. The doormen always wished us a good day when we left the hotel and welcomed us back when we returned. The location was great for walking to many destinations or catching public transportation (cta), which we frequently used. If we needed a cab, the doorman had one available within seconds. The breakfast was tasty with lots of variety. We felt safe in the hotel neighborhood. The safe provided in our room was easy to program and use, although it was too small for our laptop computer. Our room was located by the elevator, but we rarely heard it, so it wasn't a problem. The only time we had to wait very long for the elevator was during the breakfast hours. I had read other reviews regarding the size of the rooms and I thought it should be okay, considering that we will only sleep in the room and the rest of the day we are outside, but it wasn't even tolerable for sleeping! Close to all tourist hot spots! Small rooms and hallways - bathroom could have been cleaner, and the dirty sock should have been removed from our room before we checked in! YUK! Doormen were very helpful and friendly - front desk staff helpful with an attitude.

rooms size is smaller than most college dorms. first room desk and chair could not even be turned around before it hit bed. they were slow in response room did not have remote for TV and the one the sent up did not work. requested towels never delivered. they also debited charge card for full charged of room in stead of incidentals. Rooms were newly renovated which were nice but the rooms were extremely small! And when i say small I mean really small. We had 2 double beds and were unable to open the closet door fully without the door hitting the foot of the bed. Continental Breakfast was warm and good. The hotel is in a great neighborhood if you want to be able to walk to most of the downtown city sights. Also, the train is very close, so it was very easy (and cheap!) to get to and from the airport as well as farther away attractions (like Wrigley Field). The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. They had wi-fi but also two computers […] for any internet needs, which came in handy when we were looking up a few restaurant locations. Also, the breakfast is included for everyone (even when it says it's not included in your rate) - though it is a standard buffet with yogurt, bagels, eggs, pancakes, etc. Some things are better than others (bagels were great - very fresh!), but it worked for us. The rooms are very small (ours didn't even have room for a desk, very small closet), but it was clean and we didn't really use it for anything other than sleeping and showering, so size wasn't a big problem for us. The only thing I didn't like was that the smoking and non-smoking rooms are all mixed together, so the hallway smelled strongly of smoke, some of which you could detect in the room -- though not excessively so. On the whole, the service was EXCELLENT, the room was clean, and the location was great for tourists who want to get around mostly on foot. We would recommend it. Read more

Muy bien ubicado, la habitación extremadamente pequeña!. No hay lugar donde acomodar la maleta (yo la acomodé debajo del escritorio). A cambio de esto, el personal es muy amable, hay internet en la habitaciòn, cafe y/o te a cualquier hora. The hotel is located near shopping, restaurants and sights. Rooms are quite ok , though a bit on the small side. The breakfast ( included in the room rate ) is typical for US middle range hotels, so no gourmet. Overall price/ quality ratio is ok. I recommend the hotel if one is not looking for luxury.
