Everything was as expected.Our only critism was how loud the restaurant/bar was. We could hear it on the second floor, which is where our room was. Very loud when you come into the lobby too. "Good for the price"
Got stuck in chicago for two extra days because of weather. First day the airline took care of a night in the Renaissance and then second night we stayed at the HI because it was less expensive. t was good, but the hotel front desk person misdirected my party to our location downtown. We ended up walking around for 2 hours trying to find the place. Also, the eggs at breakfast were not acceptable. They tasted like egg beaters. I am in hotels over 200 nights a year, and this Holiday Inn Express easily met my expectation. Room was clean, comfortable and modern. Our Expedia deal included free breakfasts. First day was busy there with and asked about free breakfast and our server said no they didn't have that, so we ate and paid. Skipped eating there on second day because breakfast for two added up to $30 the day before. The room was ok, housekeeping left an empty beer bottle in the corner on the floor. They have 24 hour available transportation available so I called for their 30 min time frame and after 45 min we just started walking. They never came that I know of. "A nice stay for a business traveler."
Very nice hotel. One of the things some people may not like is that they still offer smoking rooms to their customers. Personally, it doesn't bother me even though I don't smoke. The rooms are very clean, the bed was very comfortable. Overall, it was a great stay. Unfortunately, there were a couple of "problems" with my stay that were out of the hotel's […] control. DirecTV had a problem and the hotel lost several channels of their TV service and they had an internet router fail causing the wireless internet service to go out. They did get the wireless internet fixed before I checked out (only took them a few hours to fix), but the DirecTV problem was not fixed yet when I left. The high speed wireless internet at this location is excellent. The DirecTV service is just "ok" ... There's only about 30 channels that you have to choose from and they are all in analog signal, so the picture isn't the greatest. Overall, I'd recommend the hotel to others! Very nice hotel with restaurant and room service. The pool is out of service. Also, there is transport service to/from the airport. Note: There are three Holiday Inns in the area, so we got on the wrong bus the first day... The Holiday Inn is located very close to the blue line, which is a 30ish minute ride into downtown Chicago. The blue line is open 24hrs which is great if you're going to be out late. "Noisy roofing contractors and pool under repair"
I would have rated this as a perfect experience had the roofing contractors not started using their power equipment at 7:00 AM in the morning. "Holiday Inn O'Hare-you don't have to rent a car!"
Our stay at the Holiday Inn O'Hare was very satisfying. It was our first extended trip without a car, or without renting a car. And, everything was great! The Blue Line is a 10 minute walk, and we had purchased a 3-day CTA card, so we didn't need any cash for any other trains. And, the walk back to the hotel at night is very well lit, and we felt pretty […] safe coming back as late as midnight. Our room was comfortable, air conditioning was fine. The staff was very helpful, and the shuttle was a blessing in disguise. The shuttle even took us to the Ram Brewery, a very nice restaurant a few miles from the hotel. And, the Bar Louie was fantastic! It is now open 24 hours, the opening weekend was when we were there, and the bands and music were a lot of fun.
