The Hilton Chicago-Michigan Avenue Cultural Mile overlooks Grant Park in Chicago, Ill. The CTA's Red line train is located one block from the hotel. This Hilton property stands two blocks from Millennium Park, three blocks from the Field Museum and four blocks from the Loop business district.

When this property opened as The Stevens in 1927, it boasted an 18-hole rooftop golf course, its own hospital and a 1,200-seat theater that showed "talking pictures." Today, the hotel offers three dining options that include Kitty O'Shea's Irish Pub where exchange students from Ireland work as servers and local Irish bands perform on select evenings. The pub serves Irish fare and offers Irish beers on tap; 720 South Bar and Grill serves comfort food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner; and SNAX offers grab-and-go meals, snacks, and beverages. The business center houses six computer stations. Wireless Internet access is available in public areas for a fee. A limited-hour health club offers an extensive array of exercise equipment for a fee, and provides complimentary use of an indoor track, saunas, tanning beds and a spa tub. The hotel also houses an indoor lap pool.

This 25-story property offers 1,544 guestrooms furnished with Hilton Serta Sweet Dreams Beds that feature pillowtop mattresses, 250-thread count sheets, down duvets and down pillows. Marble-clad bathrooms contain shower/tub combinations. Executive-level bathrooms provide bathrobes upon request. All accommodations provide clock radios with iPod® docks, flat-screen televisions with complimentary premium channels, and a touch-panel computer with high-speed wired and wireless Internet access (surcharge).

Very outdated, I was disappointed in the plastic greenery, even the airport has real plants. "Not Magnificent"
For a luxury hotel on Michigan Avenue, it left a bit to be desired. Rooms were small and in need of updating. Dogs were barking...yes it's pet friendly. The thermostat didn't work in our first room. "Unsatisfied for price"

Great local for taking kids to museums (we walked). Room was great. Staff was friendly EXCEPT everyone at the front desk... no "Hello, welcome to the Hilton Chicago", no greeting of any kind, no smile, nothing... just a blank stare (this happened twice from more than one individual)... very weird. This is truly a business hotel. It is very large, and often has conferences held there. My husband and I stayed here due to the proximity of my sister in law's condo, but otherwise if I were traveling to Chicago for pleasure I would look elsewhere. "Ok for a short stay"
The air conditioning in the room didn't work, either we overheated at night or had to switch it off altogether, which meant the room was freezing in the morning, literally since outside temperatures were sub-zero. "All the pros and cons of a big convention hotel"
My husband and I stayed here for three nights while attending the Chicago Jazz Festival. The location, right on Lakeshore Drive, is excellent, but I probably won't stay here again. The computer in our room, which was supposed to be a free perk, never worked, despite the fact that my husband called 5 times to have it looked at. The hotel location decor and value were great. Unfortunately the room was not clean. I found hair not only in my bed but in my towels. The carpet needed cleaning and there was not any tissues in the room. Had to ask for extra towels a ironing board and the air conditioning didn't work well. The hilton is absolutely beautiful, clean, historic and close to the museum campus. We had a lakeview room with 2 beds and 2 bathrooms. However, the beds seemed smalller than double beds and were way too small for 2 adults. The bedding was incredibly comfortable though.. The 2 bathrooms were fine however. Overall, the stay was okay. However, we were awoken by a knock on our door at 7:45 a.m. from the maids wanting to clean the room! Also, we left something behind when we checked out on Monday. Despite calling the hotel immediately when we realized what we'd done( 3:00 p.m. Monday), we still haven't gotten a response. "Nothing fabulous"
I've never stayed at a four star hotel and wanted to give it a try. There was nothing exactly wrong with the hotel but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to families or the handicapped. It didn't have many of the amenities that I guess the upper class business man wouldn't use that I am used to getting with my three star accommodations. No microwave […] or mini fridge so you can't let the kids heat up a snack like popcorn or keep anything cold. I guess really high class guests don't use those, I don't know. The beds were much smaller than other hotels. The mattress was comfortable but the bed was crowded with me and my husband. We had to ask three times to get more pillows too. No continental breakfast, I knew that before I went but with no microwave it meant paying for room service and tipping rather constantly, or going out for breakfast which requires having everyone ready. The pool was not impressive, same as anywhere...but the towels were much nicer. My biggest pet peeve though was the doorman. My husband is handicapped and there is only one accessible entrance on the side. Not once did any fancy bellman or doorman or employee help him with the door. He struggled with it every single time he went down for a smoke. It was heavy, opened inward, and there were two of them too close together to shut one and then open the other. The old Conrad Hilton hotel still has the fancy ballrooms. The King room was small but comfortable for the 2 of us. Bathroom a little outdated for the 21st century.
