"Bad anniversary"

"Hidden charges your bit told on the front end"
First the hotel staff, Lisa, treated me as if I was beneath her. She was sarcastic upon every question. Next, everything we touched had an unknown price tag. I was not aware I had to pay for Internet service, even had to pay for wireless when every hotel I have ever stayed in was free. I was told I had to pay a $40 fee to use the refridge and a fee […] to Use the gym. I also did not know I had to pay for parking, $43 a night. And a local call for one min was $1.50. Garage staff said parking was free when I arrived! And when I asked directions to the local museum's the front door man WAS the rudest of all. I guess since we were walking and not needing a cab he felt he didn't need to help us. The hotel was attractive but beware of hidden cost your normally not charged for at other hotels. The hotel was outdated, they have 16 elevators and only one was working so we had to wait until 5 minutes to go in. Our bedroom was clean but it was small and the bathroom was very outdated. the hotel room was very cold overnight given the temperatures on the day we stayed there, tried to fix the thermostat with no results, called the front desk and nothing happened. "Cockroach on the bed!"
I reserved this hotel for my boss, the CEO of our company because it was within walking distance to the meeting location. However, I was horrified to find out that there was a cockroach on the bed when he awoke that morning for the meeting. "Hillton Downtown Chicago - incompetent staff"
I booked three nights for my parents at the hotel in September. The key to their room did not work - it was a problem with the door. They didn't believe the door was the problem and kept giving my parents new keys. After my dad wasted half a day being locked out of his room they finally moved them to another room. After their stay, the hotel called […] and harassed my parents claiming they did not check out until 3:45 pm which is impossible because I picked them up at the hotel at 11:30 am. They tried to charge them for an extra day even though we had proof they were checked out on time. "AVOID THIS HOTEL!!!"
When I checked into the Hilton I was told there were no more Non-smoking rooms even though I had requested one when I made the reservation. The desk attendant was very rude and not helpful at all. The room I was given had a bed that collasped into the wall and was very uncomfortable. The room also smelled really bad like cigarette smoke. There was an […] outdoor music festival going on at a nearby park and our room over looked the park so it was very loud until very late. After we had gone to bed there was a knock on our door from a person asking if we would "like company". We did not open the door and when we replied "no" she continued to ask and offered us several "services". I don't know who she was looking for and it was disturbing that this was allowed to wander the halls late at night. Obvously there is no security. In the morning when we went to check out we asked to speak with a manager. We were told someone would be out to talk to us but after waiting 15 minutes no one came. We also had an issue with the parking. I had paid for parking with my room but when we arrived all the parking was full. We then valeted the parking and were told were would have to pay more. The entire experience was a nightmare. For a very large sum of money for ONE night you would expect much better service. I travel often and will NEVER stay in another Hilton hotel.
