Nice clean modern hotel. The cheaper room lack comfort. Restaurant and bar is crowded and very noisy, but the food is good. This hotel attracts the... younger crowd and is not a quiet place, parties in the rooms go the entire night. The multi-function Living Room has intimate seating areas, computer stations, and work tables. The Pump Room - The restaurant’s food concept was created by world-renowned and the James Beard Award-winning Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten and features regional flavors, local products, and a selection of classics from the Pump Room’s original 1938 menu. At night, the restaurant’s bar is transformed into a supper club and offers a light tapas-style menu, exotic cocktails, and international and domestic bottled and draught beer.

The Library - During the day, The Library offers a variety of coffee drinks from around the globe as well as house-made pastries, sandwiches, sushi, and other specialties by Chef Jean-George Vongerichten. By night, the space is transformed into a lounge, wine bar, and beer garden combination, offering domestic and international bottled beer, a wide selection of wines from around the world, specialty cocktails, small-plated exotic food and desserts from the Pump Room created by Chef Jean-Georges.

Recreation

Lake Michigan's 35-mile-long path for running, walking, bicycling, or in-line skating is two blocks from the hotel. Bikes, in-line skates, and recreational equipment can be rented at several beachfront locations. The hotel was conveniently located close to the John Hancock Center. The rate was reasonable for downtown Chicago, but beware that if you're driving a car, overnight parking is pretty expensive.

I was visiting my daughter and wanted to be midway between her apartment and Chicago sites and shopping, and this hotel was perfect. The young staff were helpful and friendly. Room 605 was small but clean, well equipped with electronics and lighting. However, there was no light blanket, only a comforter which would have been great in a cooler season […] but was too hot for July. The a/c was very effective in cooling the room, though, and even helped somewhat when guests in the neighboring room returned at 2 a.m. and became "busy" and talkative. Luckily they checked out the next day, or I would have asked to be moved. The soundproofing in that room was inadequate. Read more
