Stayed at Westin since it was the hotel the show was in. Nice airport hotel, could use more restaurant/bar options for it's size, but the surrounding area has Giordano's (great Chicago pizza) as well as a good breakfast/brunch place called Pancakes-Eggcetera all in walking distance. I love the Westin for their beds and shower heads, but while the service was polite, there was no feeling of trying to truly delight the guests. Food is slow to be served, whether in the restaurant or in room service. They got my order wrong, but it took so long, I was reluctant to return it to wait another hour for my room service. I really thought there was nothing special about this hotel, and I could have saved a lot of money by staying at a super 8 or days inn, which are both still comfortable hotels but at a fraction of the cost of Westin. sadly the hotel did not have sheets to fit the bed. I understand the rooms were all booked due to the convention we all were there for but to not have enough fitted sheets for every bed in a hotel is a disgrace. The bed was creaky and a bit saggy and every time I rolled over the sheet would come off as it was not fitted to the mattress. The vending […] machine also needed repair as I lost a few dollars in it but the hotel did make that up when we left. The staff was for the most part very nice with the exception of the girl at check in. I think she was a bit stressed as it was so busy. They should have had more than 2 people on duty. The gate in the parking lot was messed up and we had to keep calling for help. It took someone 24 minutes to get from the hotel to the parking lot to attend to the situation. The bakery should have longer hours during important events such as this convention as many hotels guests were hungry and the pizza place around the corner made a great amount of money since the bakery closed. The prices are a bit high though. $8.00 for any sandwich is about $2.00 too much and that should be addressed in the future. "Dissappointment to the Westin Brand"
The hotel was severly outdated and over priced for the shape it is in. The service and prices are what you would expect at a Westin property; and had the ammenities matched the service and pricing I would have been more than pleased. But the truth is they weren't on par with what I expect from the Westin brand. The room was out dated. The tile in the […] bathroom as well as the tub/shower unit was last updated in the early 80's at best (other than the shower head). Needless to say it just didn't feel clean. The bed was nice but the carpet, walls and baseboards showed a lot of wear which matched the look from the hallway leading upto the room leaving you to feel like you were staying in a run down property. It was very close to the L train as well as fine dining which we found convenient. "Comfortable stay close to O'Hare"
The rooms were beautiful and the bed very comfortable. I had forgotten my toothbrush and was surprised when, after waiting in line at the front desk for quite some time, I was informed that they were out but I could buy one at the gift shop. Everything was lovely except that the shuttle from the airport, which we were told runs 24 hours a day, every 30 minutes, never came. We waited from12:30 until 1:15 a.m. after long flights and ultimately had to take a $22 cab ride to the hotel. In our exhaustion we didn't ask for a receipt. Upon arrival we were greeted properly but the lady behind the desk for knowledgeable she wasn't very friendly. We stayed at the Westin for three nights with two adults and two teenagers. The concierge was absolutely fantastic, helping us to navigate the blue line into the city, and sharing restaurant ideas as well. The hotel was great for what we needed. It was clean, comfortable, and the pool and workout facilities were better than average. My only complaint, […] and it's minor, is that the carpet needs to be replaced throughout the lobby and other areas of the hotel. For a hotel as nice as this one, the carpet really makes it look old and dirty, and it's not. Replace the carpet! I was here for 2 days on business and the hotel was very conveniently located to both downtown and the burbs. Staff was fantastic from the time of my check in until my departure. My biggest pet peeve is a shower that doesn't drain, and I was standing in 2 inches of dirty water by the time I finished showering. . . .URGH. . . HATE THAT!!! Some of the furniture could be replaced and my room clearly had a refrigerator at one time, but it had been pulled out of the cabinet and there was a big empty space there. Room was clean, very quiet (no airport noise). Poor service throughout stay. Front desk did not provide friendly greeting (no eye contact, did not seem interested in helping us). I could not believe this, but the shuttle bus flat out refused to give my wife and I a ride to the "el" stop, just two blocks away, stating it was just for airport runs only.
