We stayed here for 7 nights, the hotel was very clean and the breakfast was great too! Neighborhood was nice, it was close to a couple shopping areas and close enough to the highway for traveling elsewhere. The room we had was great except for the fact that the door had a very large gap at the floor, which meant you could hear every word people were […] saying in the hallway, or when the housekeeping was going thru and cleaning the rooms around you, the doors slamming was a bit alarming!? Also, not that this is horrible . . .but Hampton is known for having fresh baked cookies out in the evenings, except don't expect to get them at this location. They make one plate and one plate only for all the guests in the hotel. At the other Hampton's we have stayed at, they would keep refilling the container for at least an hour. "Hampton Inn compared to La Quinta Inn and suites"
I visited Fort Lauderdale with my family last week and stayed at both the Hampton Inn Plantation and The La Quinta Inn and Suites located next door. My biggest complaint was that we reserved a room for 5 people and were expecting to have a rollaway bed. When we requested it, we were told it was a fire hazard. They offered to bring extra sheets for […] one of us to sleep on the floor or we could pay for another room, so out of principle I ended up going down to La Quinta next door where customer service was a bit better, but Hampton Inn was still better overall. For the rooms: the beds, duvet covers and pillows were more comfortable at Hampton Inn. It was also quieter, at La Quinta you could hear people walking by in the hallway. WiFi internet access was also offered at both hotels, but Hampton had a better connection most of the time. It cut off a couple of times, but they had a business center with computers and printers that could be used for free. I didn't try either gym and only tried the pool and Jacuzzi at Hampton Inn, as it was much more attractive and easily accessible than at La Quinta. The water was really warm in the pool and the Jacuzzi was at a perfect boiling point. Breakfast was also better at Hampton, as they had more options which La Quinta didn't offer and offered breakfast until 10:00, whereas La Quinta only offered it till 9:00. Chose this location for a pre-cruise night stay, despite being far west of the airport and cruise port, due to a good price, free breakfast, and especially the complimentary shuttle from the airport and to the cruise port. However this was almost negated right after our arrival in Ft Lauderdale by an excessively long wait for a shuttle that was "on […] its way" (over the course of three calls) for close to 90 minutes. This turned out to be due to the original shuttle being held at the cruise port, but the second shuttle should have been dispatched much sooner when the problems became apparent. Ride to and from the hotel was quick, but that first experience turned me off asking to use the free shuttle service to area attractions (anything within five miles, like Sawgrass Mills). Room and overall hotel condition were good, but the location probably would have been hard to find on our own (the lack of tall signage in the area didn't help). Medium-sized mall across the street is the only spottable, easily walkable destination in the area; even the Target next to the hotel is not apparent unless you walk the ring road around the mall past it.
