My fiancé and I stayed here for 1 night for a quick weekend getaway to Santa Cruz. The location was decent, closer to the highway than the beach, which for us, was ok. The hotel was clean and the room was large enough and the staff was helpful and friendly. I'd stay here again.

the hotel was nice ! clueless people letting there kids be very noisy ,running through the hall areas, the hotel mus not be very well insulated , we heard people talking in the rooms and lots of door noise ,not the hotels fault I know,also ocean st is a low lifer magnet for those that don't know santa cruz

The hotel lobby was very nice, the room was clean and the mattress was great, BUT whoever built this hotel saved a few $$ on construction costs. The walls are thin like a cheaper hotel. I could hear guests walking the halls from laying in our bed. The footsteps in the room above us almost echoed into our room. AND the parking garage was designed for […] tiny, tall cars only!!! With not enough spaces for guests in a full hotel. Actually, there is not enough space for this hotel on the property its crammed on. This is not what I expect for a "Holiday Inn Express". Too bad. I have now stayed at this location twice in the last 2 months and I must say that the walls in this hotel are SUPER thin. I heard toilets flushing, the words from their TV program, even the persons iPhone buzzing. I am a pretty sound sleeper but both times I have stayed here, I felt like I woke up more tired than when I went to bed.

The room was great and the staff was very courteous. I requested to be put on the not-street side so it was pretty quiet. Very clean, got a great night's sleep. Finding it can be tricky, I passed it completely by and ended up on the highway accidentally. Definitely need better signage. Would never have found it if it weren't for the directions I got […] at the Ramada across the steet. Parking was somewhat limited (1 car limit per room wasn't an issue for me but patrons being inconsiderate and taking up 2 spaces was so I ended up having to park in a handicapped spot after circling 2 garages twice at midnight). I had requested a late checkout which they seemed very accomodating on, but then forgot to note it so I ended up with the maid banging on the door and waking me up, which was actually for the best because they also forgot about my wake up call. Fortunately I wasn't in a rush, but that would've been a problem if I'd been trying to get somewhere (like the airport) at a specific time. The pool looked nice and clean but with the proximity of the beach never got around to using it. That said, it's no where near walking distance to the beach. If you want that, specifically look for hotels near the boardwalk. They say they are 2 miles from the beach, it seemed further to me. Very commercial area, not scenic. But overall, a good stay, felt more geared towards business than relaxation. Read more

The staff was courteous and helpful. The hotel is new and clean. The room is spacious and efficient. The breakfast is above par for this type of hotel. My only dislike was that my room faced other rooms since the hotel is a narrow horseshoe shape. Overall, I think the hotel is okay and a good value for the price.

Hotel is beautiful and staff is friendly and helpful. When we checked in there was a long line and only one person checking people in. We finally got to our room and the rooms were spacious and nicely decorated. We had 2 rooms, a double and a king. In the king room it was obvious it had been cleaned but at some point prior to us checking in, someone […] pooped on the bathroom tile. I called the front desk and they sent the supervisor to wash the floors and they were VERY apologetic. Needless to say, it grossed us out. The beds were REALLY uncomfortable. We actually had to do yoga stretches just to get out of bed in the morning because we were in so much pain. The neighborhood is fine during the day. At night it feels dicey. We walked to the neighborhood diner and there are a lot of street people doing drugs all around. If you go anywhere, drive, but be aware that the parking garage is small and if you have a big car its challenging to get in and out. Overall the stay was ok. Don't know if we'd go back. Read more

Hi, I loved staying at this new hotel in Santa Cruz. it was convenient, clean, and the free breakfast was great. Unfortunately, the walls are paper thin, and the doors do not have a "slow down" mechanism, and therefore slam loudly and frequently. I was able to hear the gentleman in the next room urinating, hacking, and spitting. ugh! It was close to […] the beach. Again, unfortunately, the "girls" at the front desk had no idea about directions or recommendations. Not even maps of the area!!!! I had not been there before, and was looking forward to exploring and having some great seafood. I later found out about a lot of things that I had missed~but I did have a great time with what I could find on my own. Read more

Be careful to not get into a wreck getting into the parking lot of just off the street. Parking is terrible, small and limited. Wi-fi costs you. NO Movies...no Pay per view, nothing but local TV. After a day at play I like a hot shower, good food and a movie. i would not return if it was free. Maybe its because its an Express Inn...?
