Location is great for boardwalk or quick car ride to downtown, good restaurants, etc. Fridge, microwave, hair dryer are nice amenities. Breakfast was very lacking & minimal. Napkins ran out, no more danishes, etc.

We had only been to Santa Cruz once before so we weren't sure where to stay. This place wasn't the cheapest but very reasonable. It is a great location and the room was clean and newly renovated. I'm pretty picky as a mom of a toddler but I would definately come back and stay again.

This hotel is 2 blooks away from the Beach Boardwalk so the location is absolutely perfect. The kids enjoyed swimming at the pool as well. I was also surprised that they had a good breakfast which included waffles made on their waffle maker, yoplait yogurt, cereal, coffee and danishes. Pluses: Great location for beach and boardwalk, clean room, prompt and courteous service. Minuses: I had to call front desk at 7am when I realized there was no shower curtain in the room, ice machine didn't work very well, a ton of noise from other guests. Still, we got a pretty good night's sleep.

I get sick of where people spend money for a burger and expect a steak. Super 8 in Santa Cruz was exactly what we expected for a budget. Room was clean, staff was great. Walking distance to Boardwalk. Neighborhood was a little bit low, but I never felt unsafe with my family. Overall, totally worth what we paid and a good stay. Definitely Recommend.

An easy walk to the boardwalk, wharf, and downtown makes this an ideal location. It is not fancy but is very confortable. Big TV, good bed, and spacious room made my stay very enjoyable. The owner is very knowledgeable of the are and eager to make your stay as good as possible. I will come back here again.

The staff were fabulous, informative and very nice. The room was clean and quiet. Parking was ample, etc. However, the breakfast could have been improved with fresh fruits and a few more healthy choices. Location is good if one is looking for budget stay near the beach. The hotel is perfect for people on a budget looking to be near the beach and Boardwalk. Even with small children, the Boardwalk is within walking distance. Ok, to start, make sure your driving a small car or SUV. I have a big crew cab truck, parking is cramped, but we did it. Unloaded before parking so as not to ding other guests vehicles. The best part, 8 minute walk to the Boardwalk, never had to drive anywhere. Good restaurants all around. Or you go down to the corner store on OTHER side of street , […] (better selections) 1 block and get some TV dinners and snacks. Microwave and refer in the room makes this a great option. Room was nice with what appears to be recent paint and upgrades. Shower was a little narrow if your on the big side. Breakfast was basic with packaged pastries and hot and cold cereals. OJ, coffee and flavored creamers were a nice treat. Unfortunately for me anyway the pool is not heated until Memorial Day, but it didn't stop my wife and daughter from enjoying it. For me, this was my Senior Birthday weekend. The best I've ever had. With the beach so close any early morning walk on beach is the best thing for you. We were fairly happy with our short stay. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable and it was surprisingly quiet despite being located near two busy streets. It was a very easy walk to the Boardwalk. The kids were disappointed that the pool wasn't heated. The breakfast was very basic, juice, toast, cereal, which was fine but there is no dining […] area so you had to take stuff on paper plates back to your room. The owners were extremely thoughtful in putting my family in adjoining rooms and to suggest points of interest and restaurants. The beds were the largest queens I've ever seen and extremely comfortable. The only downside was that we were on the 1st floor, next to a semi-busy intersection but we all got good sleep regardless! We only booked it because of the positive reviews. It was located in between down town and the beach - we walked everywhere, day and night, and felt reasonably safe. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We loved the tables on the 2nd floor terrace - nice place for breakfast.

Its a very short walk to the Boardwalk. That was important as there were 6 teenage girls in my group and they were back and forth. Everything was very clean in the lobby and the room. Parking is limited and very tight but other than that it was a good place to stay.

I was a little nervous about a 2 star Super 8, but we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were clean. The king size bed was nice. Nice TV. The best part about this hotel was the distance from the beach and boardwalk. It was so close! The parking is a little tight, but works. Overall, we had a great experience and would highly recommend.

Don't confuse this motel with the one opposite - also a Super 8 motel !!! The Santa Cruz Super 8 Beach Boardwalk is on the left side of the road facing the ocean, the one on the opposite side of the road is managed by different people and from the poutside would not seem to have the same facilities. The management were lovely! Very friendly and helpful […] and allowed us to check in at least 3 hours early (which had not been the case in other hotels). The manageress gave us a local street map and recommended some nice walks to local attractions (lighthouse, marina etc) along with useful information about bars and restaurants. There was a small pool that was in a lovely sun trap, but being early April we were not able to use it as the weather wasn't warm enough. Whilst this was a basic looking motel from the outside, the roms were large and very well serviced. There was also plenty of parking. There was a complimentary continetal breakfast which was adequate - plenty of coffee ! The only downside was that the walls were fairly thin and you could hear the conversations from next door, luckily we had courteous neighbours so it wasn't a problem. If you want to be close to the ocean and all the facilities on the seafront, this is an excellent choice of motel for a couple of nights. One of the big bonuses being the friendly and helpful staff.
