"Family Vacation"
We have stayed here each visit to Sanat Cruz for the past 12 years. This may be our last visit. Lots of work being done to upgrade the check in and breakfast area. I guess we have never stayed down stairs. Each time the water was turned on it made a screaching noise that woke me out of a sound sleep and didnt stop until they shut off the water. The […] beds were very worn and uncomfortable. They still served a breakfast while trying to remodel. The pool area is great since we travel with children. The homeless have really taken over in this area. Although the hotel is close to shopping and resturants, There were people doing drugs on the street two blocks from our room. It was not like the picture. Pool was heated and spa was hot but they we so small. Nowhere near enough parking for the amount of rooms. It's confusing to find. Breakfast was good though. "Horrible service!!!"
I had to get my breakfast from the dining hall and bring it to my room because my child was alone and still sleeping. The front desk guy rudely stopped me and told me that I can't eat inside my room. It's the first time I heard of such nonsense. He argued with me and it was only when I told him he would be liable if something happens to my kid that […] he allowed me to go. He embarrassed and insulted me in front of the other guests at the lobby. I can't believe that such an incident will happen to a place where "we accommodate the guests' requests" is written boldly in the fliers. I was treated rudely and the front desk guy even raised his voice at me. I don't care if he's the manager or the boss, this doesn't make him more of a person than me. "Comfort Inn, Santa Cruz"
The web site makes you think it is a recently built motel but in reality, it is an 80's vintage place. It has had a few little upgrades in the bathrooms but nothing more. The lighting in the rooms is terrible (not where you need it and in the case of the bathroom, linked to the exhaust fan, which roared as though a bag of marbles was flapping around […] in it along with the fan blades.). The rooms had that "motel smell"...you know, a mix of room deodorant and bathroom cleanser. The refrigerator froze our water bottles. The complimentary breakfast had only highly sugared choices. Located on a tiny little one-way street- miss it one way, you have to go two more lights before you can u-turn, miss it the other way, you have to go around like, 4 city blocks. Staff is really micro-managing. "No overnight guests!" "No guests after 10!" "Only people registered at this hotel can be in pool!" "Will not go back to be gouged again"
We have stayed here 2 times previously and had no issues, but this time they totally gouged us on the price. They charged $25 extra for our disabled son to be in the room when they never charged extra for kids before on top of charging DOUBLE the regular price of the room because it was graduation weekend.
