"Spacious and well-located"
Will always stay there on periodic trips to Austin. Greatly located for my needs, easy to access MoPac, the main north/south freeway, but also accessable to back-street routes into the city. I have stayed at the Allandale Hotel many times. It is a comfortable and convenient place to stay. It is getting long in the tooth and needs updating; old fashioned kitchen, outdated art and such - but is a nice place to land. This hotel was fine for our stay but I was disappointed compared to the way it is advertised. It's not as nice as the pictures. Parking was available but crowded due to some of the rooms being a permanent residence for folks. The spa was above ground and although indie not go in it, the water looked cloudy. It hadn't been updated since the mid 80's, and the place looked liked apartments turned into a motel. Friendly staff. This is a older converted apt. complex, so I actually got a 1 bedroom apt. complete with full kitchen for the price of a hotel room. Chocolate chip cookies and snacks are there when you arrive . "Good with a glitch"
The room was comfortable and the hotel nice. One of the nights we had a power outage that lasted from late afternoon until sometime the next day. We were only able to use the room to sleep. No lights, appliances, hot water, etc. We had to find an alternative solutions for showering the next day. The hotel did not see fit to give a discount or refund […] a portion of the cost because it was an act of God. I feel regardless of the reason for the power outage, the hotel was not able to be used as it should have and the general manager should have acknowledged that and proved a partial refund. The place was nice and roomy. Love that they are pet friendly. My only issue is that they close the pool/jacuzzi area too early on a Saturday night. We had a 2 room suite for our family. Having the kitchen and extra living area was great. It was still a little chilly to enjoy the pool, but maybe on our next trip. "Good for a quiet relax."
The hotel has a pool and bikes you can rent. Though we didn't use the kitchen, it was nice to know that the kitchen has the pots pans and utensiles you would need. The bedroom with the double beds was a little small for double beds but that nice livingroom spaces helps make up for that. The beds were comfortable. The hotel is directly behind a wal-mart […] and a few food places. Though the wal-mart closes at 1am, there is a tigermart open all night where you can grab snacks. Its all in walking distance, you just have to walk around the fence surrounding the hotel area. I was pleased with the hotel and glad to have found it. It was quiet the nights we were there. It's far from downtown but in a good location for what we were doing. This place is great. Hotel Allendale is actually an apartment building. I rented a 1-bedroom, and I felt so much more at home than I feel in a regular hotel room.
