"Not really a mansion....just a hotel."
This looks like a beautiful mansion from the outside, however from the sidewalk you can see how the mansion is just the face and the rest is an overpriced hotel. It is way overpriced for what you get. The beds are nice and the pillows are soft..... the room was small. The picture shows a tub, however all I had was a small shower. The shampoo and conditioners […] were fantastic, but it wasn't worth the high price tag. The hotel seems close to the university, but it's a long walk from the hotel to the main drag. The area seemed safe. I did find that the furniture seemed warn and should be replaced. I also think the hotel should really give more for your money. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very NOISY, UGLY VIEW from room, OKAY location"
- OKAY Location: This hotel is fairly close to the Capitol and the University; however I found it to be a little far from 6th street or South Congress District. - OVERPRICED: I think some “cheaper” hotels look a lot nicer than "Mansion at Judges Hill"! Maybe the good reviews come from people staying here for a wedding? The restaurant (the actual “mansion”) […] is a good looking structure for pictures and such. - NOISY: If you are planning a vacation to relax: STAY AWAY (especially if there is a wedding party staying). We had people across the hallway from us partying all night, shouting on the hallways, etc. Plus, you can hear people constantly coming up and down the stairs, flushing the toilet, yelling, etc. - DISTURBING VIEW: When my husband and I first arrived and looked out the window we were shocked by the UGLY VIEW (sneakers hanging from cables, multiple trash bags on the floor, graffiti, etc). I do not recommend this hotel, especially considering the price. Hope this helps. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"over-rated, over-priced disappointment"
On-line photos are great and expectations ran high. I booked on a Wednesday, the day to cancel was Friday, and they lowered the price by $60 on Sunday. Too late for me to benefit. I felt taken advantage of before I even checked-in. We were put in a "wing" which apparently means not the house or mansion. Our room was a very typical (albeit overpriced) […] hotel room with a view of a concrete and cedal plank fence literally 6 feet beyond the window. Parking was $15 for a small, tight garage and no valet. There were absolutely no amenties one would reasonably expect looking at the photos and paying the price. 2 chocolate cookies at turn-down and a newspaper in the morning. All-in-all, very disappointing. Perhaps a mansion room would live up to expectations. I would advise saving money and booking a hotel with a lot more for a lot less money. "Not what it's cracked up to be"
The hotel was conveniently located within walking distance of the University of Texas and sites downtown. However, the hotel itself was sub-par. Upon arriving at the hotel we had difficulty finding parking in the designated one-entrance/exit parking garage. We were not greeted with friendly service upon check in and were not clearly directed to our […] rooms which were located in a detached building. Once in our small room, we could CLEARLY hear the conversation and activities of our neighbors. The A/C did not keep up with the requested room temperature of 72 degrees. To top it off, when we returned from our Saturday afternoon outings, we were locked out of our room because the keys had not been properly programmed the night before. We will NOT return to this venue. How it received four stars is a mystery. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was not a good value for your money, room was extremely small and cramped, parking lot was a gravel pit with no comfortable and safe walking paths. The hotel couldn't accommodate us with a reservation for breakfast the next morning because they were doing a "first of the month Sunday brunch", something they could have asked us about or at […] least informed us of when we checked in. We've stayed at many "pricey" hotels in other cities and this one had the price but not the amenities. Would not stay here again and would not recommend it to others. "Unless you're a wedding guest find another place"
This hotel might be perfect for a wedding party but as a non-wedding guest it was just awkward. Our room opened to the second floor terrace where the reception was being hosted until 11 PM. I'm not bothered by noise but it feels weird to be right next to a party that you're not invited to. There is no pool, the patio was taken by the wedding and the […] front porch of the mansion appears to belong to the restaurant so on a gorgeous weekend we had nowhere to relax except our room which was creepily intruding into the wedding unless we closed the drapes. The big, open parking lot with no attendant felt less than secure for overnight parking so we lugged everything into the room. The upscale reputation doesn't fit my experience of a luxury boutique hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Disappointing"
Bed was uncomfortable. it was very noisy from the inside of our room we heard someone snoring in the room next to us all night. we heard every sound from the rooms and hallway around us loud and clear, including the vacuuming of the room next to us at 8:00 am. It sounded like they were in our room!!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not good"
Service was quite bad. There was no assistance with luggage, no explanation of room keys or room amenities, no assistance with parking. The door from the garage wouldn't open, requiring either reparking to another area or carrying bags up a ramp and around through the alley. The room was so dim, reading was impossible. There is no reading light at […] all. The bar was nice and the bartender friendly and good. It was the only plus. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Meh..."
Everyone has a nose ring. The check in counter is really just a big closet. We got room service and the server. When we asked for water she replied, "the cups are in the bathroom". The implication was that we should just get some from the faucet. Would not recommend. There are much nicer places around.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"depends what you want"
If you are okay with what you have then its okay but any changes there is always an upcharge. I reserved a classic room but they don't tell you that it faces a fence or the parking lot. Room was never cleaned on day 2. And the front desk automatically assumes that I had my privacy sign up (which I didn't) since I was out of the room all morning and […] early afternoon. Sergie was great though as far as recommendations of place to eat. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"GROSS MISREPRESENTATION - NOT A MANSION"
The North Wing is a dark, damp, unattractive and very uncomfortable. we stayed at the "classic North Wing. The rook is extremely small for the price, the bath is puny, the bed is full or queen (but not king-size as Expedia notes), the air conditioning is set to kick-in with force and icy air blows straight at the bed leaving the choice of boiling or […] freezing and getting a cold. The reception area is a dark closet. The staff was nice and we had breakfast at the Mansion portion, but these do not redeem the dissatisfaction with the stay. This is not a pleasant holiday, not a boutique and not a mansion. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"The gap in the door is an inch"
I was so looking forward to staying here- but NEVER again. The best thing I can say is the room service food is good. But the bed was tiny, we had a view of a brick wall, and even when I put pillows in front of the door the noise in the hall way was so LOUD.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Picture convey the wrong image. In no way a 4 star hotel."
Don't let the pictures fool you. This is a 2 star limited service hotel with a detached mansion serving as their pretty face. Example: You can't get a drink or sandwich during lunch, there is no lounge or sitting area, the list goes on. This is a romantic restaurant with a real slow service (the Mansion) and behind the building and rooms are much worse […] than then run of the mill limited service chain hotels.
