"never there again"
Hilton have reputation for excellent service. Front Desk provided little if any relief from loud disturbances from 11:30 at night until 3:30 am. With 3 calls to front desk, next morning at check out the desk claimed to know nothing of any incident. Someone not truthful. Stay Corporately often. Too bad, great town.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Design 101"
A hotel room lacking in reading lights? No lights built into headboards, no small reading lamps next to the beds (the lamp between the beds was broken but replaced quickly). A bathroom with only one rack to hang a towel and that rack was in the shower? Seems like they hired flunky design students to plan the layout of a simple hotel room. Thanks for […] changing our room when the sink was clogged and created a flood, but the aforementioned deficiencies impacted our stay too much to give this hotel a passing grade. "Poor Experience"
Great Service and beautiful lobby, but the condition and quality of guest room was severely disappointing. Upon first entrance of room, it had a horrible smell. The room had been poorly maintained and seriously needs a remodel. Room looks like it hasn't been changed since 1980. Ate in restaurant in lobby for breakfast. Was slow but waited 15 mins for […] someone to approach our table and at the end of the meal again to have our check settled. Was almost late for conference in hotel. "Hotel oberwhelmed by convention"
Negative: Hotel was completely overwhelmed by convention. Often took 20 min to get to room via elevator. Hotel guest parking was full the entire three day period; we had to park down the street and carry our bags. Positive: Room comfortable, staff nice. Overall: Would go elsewhere next time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Poor experience - Hilton u let me down"
The hotel was adequate in itself but the staff and service was horrid - when u pay for a Hilton u expect some level of service but this was by far the worst Hilton experience I've ever had. NOT recommended.Genuine Expedia guest review
"WHAT HAPPENED TO HILTON SERVICE??"
bellman to help with my bags and after waiting on hold I for 10 min I was told it would be 10-15 to have somebody there. I made 2 trips and did the job myself. Four is the killer. I left my briefcase at a clients office 1 1/2 blocks from the hotel. When I called the hotel I was swithched around 2x and help for 10 min for the hotel mgr who I was told […] was at the top of the stairs. After waiting for another 10 min I hung. Thr mgr called me 1 1/2 hrs later I said they could do nothing. I asked if he didn't have a messenger service in Austin and he said no and didn't offer to direct me to one. I hung up and googled a service and called them and had the situation under control in 5 min!!! wow Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Will look for another hotel in downtown Austin!"
Furniture and Carpet are very dated. Bed linens do not stay tucked in and create a mess. Mattress is very dated. It nothing else, PLEASE get new mattresses!!!!! Also, no free Wifi except in the lobby. It's $15.00 a day in the room. Pricey for no amenities. Parking garage a royal pain in the butt. The tickets do not work and the parking attendant is […] overwhelmed. Will not stay there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Very friendly front desk people but the rest was downhill. Valet parking department has no clue what they are doing. Worst breakfast set up I have ever seen for a major hotel....I was embarrassed and apologized to my family. I wanted to leave a package for someone to pickup, the front desk said to leave it with the bell/valet desk which I did with her […] name on it, when she asked the front desk if someone had left a package for her they told her no! The hotel was nice but the parking garage was horrible to get around in, rooms were noisy due to outside music, train/metro line (and we were on the 20 floor) and hallway (people talking sounded like they were IN our room. Long wait for our floor's elevators! Hotel itself was nice but too expensive to put up with these issues!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"NOT a hotel for families!"
Definitely check with hotel prior to reserving to see if there are any events happening during your stay. We could not find any place to park at the hotel - had to use public parking garage where you are required to pay every time you re-entered garage unlike the hotel's $10 per day. Very inconvenient. I was mostly disappointed with the huge crowd of […] drunk people returning from their night on 6th street. Literally had to show room key to security at the elevators before they would let you go - as if we were in Vegas. I've never experienced so many drunks congregating in one area. Once we did arrive at our room - the parties seemed to continue upstairs. Extremely noisy. Would not recommend this hotel for families. I was there for a girls' night and I still wouldn't recommend it. Very chaotic - staff seemed to be overwhelmed with crowds too and lacked the skills to control it. "Overwhelmed?"
Our stay was marred by long waits for the elevators at nearly all times of the day (unclear whether they were overwhelmed or not all operational) and by waits related to parking (the gate system was clearly not operational). The hotel has a great price in a great location; however, these issues, combined with a subpar finish to the room and bathroom, […] will have me paying a little bit extra to stay elsewhere in downtown Austin. "Close to 6th Street but not always a good thing."
This hotel is in a great location it is only two blocks off of sixth street but to say the least they have paper thin walls in the hotel. It is hard to get a good nights rest in this hotel due to the lack of noise barriers between the rooms and hallways. Be ready to be woken up about everything 15 minutes or more after about midnight as the next group […] of drunken guests returns to their rooms. Also if one pulls the fire alarm like they did during our stay just hope the hotel has enough courtesy to announce a false alarm before you get down 18 flights of stairs. The alarm was pulled during our stay and was sounded for at least 10 minutes yet there was never an all clear announcement. We decided to call to the reception desk which of course was busy for quite a while to get confirmation it was indeed a false alarm. For the price I would expect better service and wouldn’t recommended staying here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beware of the elevators..."
If they hotel is busy. Be prepared for every elevator ride to stop at almost every floor. If you are unfortunate enough to stay on a high floor, your going to be miserable. The top - top floors are where the more expensive rooms are located. So you pay more money to be miserable. They say the queen bed is a queen, we think it's a full. They closed the […] pool during our stay, because they needed to prepare for a busy week. What about us ?? Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nickel and dimed"
This hotel nickel and dimes you throughout your entire stay. Your room rate is only the beginning of how much it will cost to stay. You are charged to park each car, so if you and your spouse drive in, you have 2 parking charges that rival NYC parking fees - not exaggerating unfortunately. Want a roll away bed, there is a charge for that per night... Want […] to use the business center computer? There is a charge for that - by the minute with a fee minimum. I couldn't make this up if I tried. Want to print something off in the business center, say an email... There is a charge for that. I never did try to connect to the internet, but it was clearly labeled as being managed by a 3rd party, so I'm sure another fee for that. The inside of the hotel is very nice, a great first impression with the sprawling entry way, grandiose front desk, nice bar and restaurant. However, the room is nothing worth noting with the exception that our shower barely worked and I stood in a lake of soap and shampoo. The only thing that this hotel has going for it is location. At first we thought it was cheaper than it's competitors, but after all the nickel and dime fees we paid more. I had a much better experience at the Sheraton down the street. Also, I'd recommend Embassy Suites a few blocks down. I have even filed a formal complaint with Hilton. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hilton - Downtown-great location"
This was the WORST hotel that I have ever stayed in. The location was great and that is it. The beds were super uncomfortable and you could hear everything that went on outside your room door and down the entire hallway. I was very shocked of the above due to the fact the room was very costly. You would think at that price you should have a wonderful […] experience. I will not stay here ever again, and I would not recommend it either. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"hilton downtown austin, tx. No hot water?"
There was no hot water at this Hilton. A four star establishment with no hot water? When I complained to the management, they replied " its that time of year" I will never stay at that hotel again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Terrible Service & Loud Occupants"
The rooms themselves were nice. However, the service provided by the guest services staff was terrible! They were very rude and they hung up on me twice. I was asking simple questions, nothing complicated or rude. There was no reason for them to respond in that manner. Additionally, the soundproofing of the room is awful. I could hear people talking […] in the adjacent rooms. They weren't even shouting or playing music or anything. They were simply having a conversation. I don't recommend you stay at this Hilton. Response by Hilton Austin Thank you for your recent review. We are very disappointed to hear that our guest services team did not provide you with the level of service our hotel is known for. We can assure this is not the norm here at our hotel and that we've put our staff on alert for the issue you you mentioned, to ensure this does not happen again. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Please note I am manager at the hotel, not the General Manager. The post all say "General Manager" on Expedia, which is not the case.

Response by Hilton Austin Thank you for your review. We are terribly sorry to hear about your recent experience with us and would like to once again apologize for this incident. We understand you contacted our Guest Services hotline while you were at the property and they were able to accommodate your request to have our Housekeeping team clean your room again and ensure the item got removed. I have discussed your concerns with our Housekeeping team to ensure this does not happen again. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention and we hope you will consider giving us another chance the next time you are visiting Austin.
"Overpriced and misbooked"
I ordered 2 king rooms, I then altered one to a pair of queens. When I arrived they were both 2 queen rooms. I was offered a smoking for handicap room with a king. Both of these options are unacceptable. For the room price you would expect service. instead, internet was a nightly fee. Thier parking garage fee was double that of the parking garage across […] the street. I was embarassed for the brand based on this experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Hilton Austin We are very sorry you did not received the room types you requested. We do our very best to accommodate our guest’s requests, but depending on our occupancy, we are not always able to honor every request. We offer complimentary Internet access at our Lobby and Java Jive on Fifth. Thank you again for staying with us and bringing this to our attention.
Am still upset that our reservation was supposed to include a breakfast buffet but I was told at the front desk that it wasn't. Unfortunately, I found my confirmation ( clearly indicating breakfast buffet included) only after we checked out. . I lost any interest in this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Bit Disappointed..."
The property is well maintained. The staff did their job. The room was clean and ready. And the parking situation was suitable. But there were several factors that will probably prevent me staying there again. Let me list them: 1. Hotel room temperature would not drop below 71. It was stuffy and hot in the room until around 3am... 2. Parking garage […] fee was exorbitant at $20 plus taxes per day. As a side note, the desk attendant stated a $10 daily and then refused to honor it. I did not press hard on that point. 3. Internet fees in the room were $14 daily. 4. UPS office charged me $5.16 to print two word documents (total of two pages). 5. $75 early check out fee - never heard of that before. 6. Forgot to mention that we had to call securtiy three times to stop a party across the hall that cranked up at 2am and ended at 4am. I don't blame the staff for those idiots, but it did put the icing on the cake. We felt as if the Hilton was nickling and diming us to death. And, with the warm room and party outside, managed to get no more than 3 hours of sleep. I usually never complain on an open forum, but this time I felt the need. We will probably stay elsewhere the next visit to Austin. Kind Regards, tc Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Hilton Downtown Austin"
If you want to be close to sixth street in Austin..this is the place for you. Unfortunately, I'm 20 years beyond being excited about anything on sixth street, which incidentally, could be heard from the 26th floor. Prepare to sleep on a queen sized bed if a king had been booked, and sleep on a mattress with the firmness of a piece of wonderbread. Overall, […] the place is clean, but beware of the unforeseen charges: internet access, and daily fee parking at the facility's parking garage. WAY overpriced, even for Austin. "Parking Fiasco"
At check-in, they failed to mention a very important yet highly inconvenient little problem - non-guests frequently lie about being guests, use the hotel valet parking, fill up the parking completely, which forces actual guests to pay for off-site parking in un-secured areas far away from the hotel. Our car was broken into at an off-site parking facility […] that we had to use, because the hotel over-sold parking to non-guests, and when we arrived late to valet after dinner, there was no parking available. The room wasn't all that clean either - found numerous hairs throughout the room and it just didn't seem to be cleaned thoroughly. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Austin Hilton -downtown"
The room was not clean. Grape stems were on the carpet, the beds were not tidy, and the throw blankets across the bottom of the beds were full of lint. My stay at the hilton was absolutely terrible. Almost the whole hotel was filled with high school boys there for a volleyball torn. The pool was closed both days do to "accidents" in the water... "Poor very slow service - noisy hotel"
Staff were pleasant and helpful but service in general was very slow and suffered from this being a conference hotel, with a attitude of not caring coming accross.
