"Mixed Bag"
The hotel was very convenient to the University of Texas campus, which is why I chose this hotel. The major problem was the non-working toilet in our room. The freeway traffic was also a major nuisance, as we were staying on the freeway facing side of hotel. Rooms could use more light. Not sure I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Call for directions, don't trust GPS/address"
My stay was just OK. We were doing a quick trip, one overnight. The room was clean and comfortable but there was a light out in the room so I had to blindly walk around to find a lamp and switch without walking into anything. The air conditioner was on full blast in the room so I tried to lower it and it wouldn't work. There was a switch on the wall […] to shut it off completely, which I did. The front desk staff in the evening was a little inappropriate and unwelcoming. I entered the address into my GPS and ended up about 20 minutes north of the actual location. When I called the hotel to help with directions the first time they gave me the wrong info, the second time (different person) finally got me to the destination. Because of this issue it took us about 1 hour to get from the airport to the hotel when it should have been no more than 20 minutes. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Location and staff great. Everything else......"
Location was why I booked it. Staff were great. But: In room coffee pot was possessed. AC was incredibly loud. Toilet ran. No AC in hallways. No free bfast not even a muffin. When you factor in cost it's even worse.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great night's sleep!"
Stayed at this property during a convention in Austin. Hotel was sold out, however, lobby and hallways were ALWAYS QUIET! Parking was very easy to find and close to entrance. Housekeeping did a fantastic job of being "invisible" to guests - meaning they hardly made any noise! Very courteous staff, and I got a terrific night's sleep every night. Bar […] area was great for those who wanted a late night cocktail. Hotel room cardkey had issues, but that's the only problem. Located right across freeway from UT-Austin. "Not So Good"
I checked into my room and went to use the bathroom, and when i lifted up the toilet cover there was excrement all over the toilet. This had to be the most vile experience I've had when checking into a hotel. I immediately grab my things and went back down to the front desk. The front desk changed my room but was not very sympathetic about the situation. […] I emailed Doubletree about my experience and they have yet to respond. I travel quiet frequently and I don't normally leave reviews but I had to voice my disappointment about my recent stay at the DoubleTree. I probably will not use this chain in the future. The hotel itself is very nice. We had 2 AC technicians working at a nearby Restaurant and your hotel was the closest - yet $50 more than the other hotels. They didn't check in until 9 pm because of work, and your hotel staff put them near the mechanical room and it was very loud!!. They know the hotel was not full, why would they put them in a room […] that makes so much noise. They didn't deserve that! They will NEVER come back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Couldn't quite figure out why it smelled so funky"
When I walked into the hotel I thought it smelled like a cheap beauty shop. It had a really weird permanent wave solution smell. When I go to my room it was even worse, and when I ran the water in the bathroom, the smell seemed to come from there. I would have left the hotel immediately and gone somewhere else had I not already paid on this site.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close to University of Texas"
Good: Easy to get downtown, right off the highway, nice clean remodeled rooms. They have a bar. Bad: Pool was small and anyone could access it, sound carried through walls easily. Some people staying there were extremely loud at 2am and nothing was done about it. The bathroom was extremely dark due to only one small light. Breakfast was expensive but […] there is a Denny's in the parking lot if you want to save some money on breakfast. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Thank You"
The stay was great, Room was great and located right were I needed to be. 2 things I wasnt a fan of was the location right next to the Cemetary, A little too creapy for me, also for the cost of the room internet access should be included for freeGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean, Quiet, Good Value"
What more could you want from a hotel, staff that is not overly intrusive and clean quiet rooms and people.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not great, not terrible."
The good: (1) Location - the hotel is located right at the intersection of I-35 and MLK Blvd., so if your destination is the UT campus, it is a great spot. (2) The staff - We felt like the hotel staff were very friendly and accomodating. The bad: (1) Location - The hotel is right on I-35, so if your room faces the highway, you get a heavy dose of traffic […] noise. Choose a room that faces the cemetery and you will be much happier, although your view will stink. (2) The beds - We found them to be not very comfortable. By the end of our stay, we were both sore, and my wife and I slim and fit. Also, they use those mushy, feather pillows, which I hate. (3) Noisy guests - We were awakened at 3:00 a.m. on our last night by two guys having a fight/argument in the hallway outside our room. It didn't last too long, so I didn't report it, but this same group was making a lot of noise again in the morning as we were getting ready to check out. I would probably stay here again if I needed to be close to campus. Otherwise, I would stay at the Embassy Suites further north on I-35. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"It was great in a pinch"
The hotel itself was nice, it had everything I needed but not everything I wanted. I was in Austin on a very busy weeken, and I normally stay downtown. But this weekend everything was already booked. Although its only about 20 blocks from downtown, unless you have a car, it's not the most convenient. The staff was helpful but no late night food. However, […] the one bright spot is that there is a Denny's about 50 feet from the hotel.so that did make me happy. :) it was a nice hotel in general, just not convenient for walking around. And it was nice for the price.. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"DoubleTree Austin - close to downtown and UT"
I stayed two nights in the DT Austin for a conference. The hotel and the room were fine. Standard double queen, flat screen TV, desk with wired Internet connection, etc. Very comfortable bed. The hotel is very close to both UT and downtown - a 3-5 minute drive to each. I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Was not what I expected"
The cost of the hotel is to high for not having a shuttle service, no microwave or refrigator in the room, the staff was not fimiular with the area at all. They did however call a taxi when I needed one. But for the price they could have provided something nice, not even a muffin.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Doubletree Austin-eMDs User Conference"
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hallways and elevators were hot and stuffy. The cleanliness of the room was ok overall. The baseboards and edges of the carpet, up against the baseboards, were very dirty/dusty and needed to be vacuumed. Internet was extremely slow. Bar food was awesome.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Right next to a cemetary. Shower was weird and the door to the bathroom would slam shut everytime you opened it. Pool was empty. Kinda sad. Comfortable beds and friendly staff though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"University Doubletree - Austin"
Convenient to downtown and S Congress as well as the UT campus. Friendly and accommodating staff. Great value and substantialy lower than other hotels in the area because it is just across the highway, so more value for the same quality.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"3 Star hotel next to UT"
if you are visiting UT this locale is perfect for the library, stadium and basketball arena. However, the neighborhood is not Austin's finest so don't think about going for long midnight walks. the staff is polite and helpful. One hint: grab the paper in morning that may be outside your door. If you don't it is gone by 10am. (presumably picked up by […] hotel staff) 24hr Denny's shares the same parking lot so you will not starve. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Time for a do-over"
I realize a more up-to-date version was in the city, but, my goodness, no reason to be a total slacker on the up-keep for the original. I felt like I was staying in the warmed-over, left-over, need-a-fix-up version of the Double Tree. The walls were dirty, the lamp was torn and cracked, and the overall look was flat. Plus, the receptionist spent three […] times as long on a previous customer and rushed through my processing. Felt totally unwelcome. Just needed a bed though. Convenient location off the hiway, but too far to walk from all the downtown Austin attractions. You should pay more for a downtown hotel and save the cab fare.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel - bad room service"
Perhaps it was the fact that ordered an hour before the kitchen closed for the night, but my $60+ roomservice order was cold (when it was supposed to be hot), soggy (not crispy), and tough/chewy (the steak). Consider getting you dinner from a different locationGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Doubletree on I-35 in Austin-very convenient"
I stayted at the Doubletree for 2 nights. I was in Austin on business and wanted a nice, yet reasonable place to stay. I also wanted easy access in and out. This hotel provided that. This Doubletree is not your standard hotel but more like a "Garden Hotel" , except it was considerable nicer. While i had a little road noise (I was on the highway side) […] it wasn't enough to keep me awake. I was pleased they have a security guard who patrols the parking area at night. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a nice clean hotel room and wasn't interested in being in the middle of downtoen Austin. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Poor business support"
I chose to pay more to stay at this Doubletree--choosing it over several other similarly rated/located hotels--because of their reputation for service, including business support. Their courtesy printing service is an overly complex joke that doesn't work. It wasted an hour of my time (and I work in high tech--I know my way around hardware and software). […] The concierge was no help at retrieving prints using their system. And they frankly weren't especially friendly in any of my interactions. All in all, the service and perks were not worth the cost of staying here. I've experienced better value in Austin at the same price point, and even lower. Very disappointed with my stay.
