The hotel was fine. The problem is there are two Doubletree hotels, both on the same street, but 5 miles apart. Our stay was very nice. It was close to Bass Concert Hall at UT and convenient to downtown dining. On the morning before we left, we could not turn the shower on. It would not work at all. "great updates to the hotel: except 1 thing"

We were conveniently located by all of the major destination spots in Austin and just a short drive to other hot spots. The service was awesome. "Super friendly staff and comfortable room"
The staff at the hotel was very friendly and accommodating. The room was comfortable though a bit noisy on the freeway side of the hotel. They do need to put up some towel bars in the bathroom but otherwise the room was great and the bed was really comfortable. Check-In took 25 minutes and I was the only one there!!!!!!!! Other than that, the bartender didn't know how to make a Margarita and tried three times. "great hotel but..."
As soon as we walked in it felt warm but after the double doors into the lobby it cooled down. The problem was when we got into the elevator it was a sauna and so was our floor. We stopped at every other floor and they all felt the same. A guest who happened to complain about the climate on the elevator ride up also informed us that in the past its […] been the same. My only assumption is that the hotel does this purpsely to save energy but the guest ultimately suffers. Our actual room was different, we could adjust the thermostat. On out way out to dinner I even felt my hair start to frizz due to the humidity in the long hallways leading up to the sauna (elevator). Nice room, nice place. Read several comments regarding very dim lighting in the bathroom and they're right: it is very dim for a man shaving or a woman trying to get ready for a nice evening out. Excellent hotel, appears to have been recently remodeled, a very comfortable stay. Only negaative is location relative to downtown (not too close, on East side of I-35), but it's significantly less expensive than comparable hotels west of I-35 downtown so the rate is appropriate. Nice hotel, every employee was very friendly and helpful, right down to the guy shampooing carpets. All employees went out of their way to see that we had everything we could possibly need. Comfortable, well-appointed room, great bed. We rarely sleep well in hotels, but this was really good, quiet, easy to block all light.
