The wait staff in the restaurant, especially the hostess and a waiter named "David", were probably the most rude and lazy restaurant staff that I've ever encountered. And, I'm a world traveler. "Typical business hotel in a central location"
The Radisson is exactly what you would expect from this property, so I won't spend much time on those details. Spacious and comfortable room. Clean room and bathroom, etc. One nice touch is that vending machines take credit cards, a small, but convenient detail. With Starbucks and TGI Fridays in the hotel, this place is perfect for those who love the […] big chains, but kind of a waste given the amazing dining and coffee options in Austin. The hotel loses points for making me sign a "no party policy" when I arrived stating that only registered guests would be allowed in to the hotel after a certain hour. I never had an opportunity to test this policy, but if they see a need to have it, I would have preferred to know that BEFORE committing to this hotel and pre-paying for my room. "Nice enough for the price..."
We stayed at this hotel two years ago on the river side. We just stayed there again, but on the city side this time. My recommendation... pay the extra money for the river side room! "Convenient Location"
Walking distance to the Capitol, University of Texas, Historic 6th Street and the Congress Bat Bridge. Head the opposite direction for some fun shopping in SoCo. This hotel was very nice for the most part. The views on both side of the hotel are nice but I think the side where you see the lake is better. It was clean. ** One thing about this hotel that I could not stand, nor other hotels that take part in this practice, was the PARKING. As a national hotel chain, you are going to advertise on television, newspapers, […] and magazines inviting people to come and stay at your hotel, charge then whatever fee and then once the guest has signed whatever form(s) he has too and given you his credit card information, you are then going to tell him, "even though you are our guest, we will be charging you $16.00 per vehicle, per day to park on our property! What in the world is this type of practice of having guests at your hotel, and then charging them to park?!! I don't understand this one bit. Paying to stay there, and then paying again to park your car??!! That is ridiculous and because of this, although a nice hotel, I will never stay there again. "comfort of room" score suffered because room was rather warm at night (called front desk, brought fan) Overall rating suffered mainly because of the parking issue. The hotel is close to the downtown nightlife and is in a great location. The walls are thin, so if the neighbors are loud you have to call the front desk. Good Hotel, nice staff. The only thing I would suggest is that you pay extra for a Lake view room, you might want to make sure that your room is on the fifth floor or higher. We were on the Third floor and the only thing we could see out our window was trees. Other than that, the Hotel was in the perfect spot for all the hot spots. The location of this Hotel is very nice close to all the excitments, clean and peacefull and very secure. The receptionist who check me in was not friendly very serious face. "Be Prepared"
This hotel has a great location, but the rooms are becoming run down, or at least the one I stayed in. It had a good view of Town Lake and great access to the running trails and a few blocks from all the downtown atmosphere. I would recommend this hotel only because of the location, but be prepared to see the rooms with wearing out carpeting and outdated […] fixtures. Great location. Hotel was nice...unfortunately they were very booked and we were unable to get out of the non-smoking room (previously a smoking room), so we had to deal with the smoke smell. Not good for the allergies! They did bring up an ionizer and it helped, but would have preferred an actual non-smoking room. Now I know never to buy a sleep number bed. It was so uncomfortable! I adjusted and adjusted but it never got softer than a rock covered with a sheet. This is a decent hotel, but based on my room and the overall appearance of the place, I think 3-1/2 stars is a little generous. The lobby was cramped, the room was spartan, and the furnishings and beds were only so-so. Overall, I'd say its closer to 2-1/2 stars.
