Hilton Garden Inn Austin Downtown/Convention Center

This hotel is very conveniently located close to I-35 and 6th street in downtown Austin. It is clean, well-maintained, and the service was good. Internet service is complimentary, but was very slow at times. Otherwise, highly recommended.

We and dozens of others had to wait around for hours in the hotel lobby because they were late in getting the rooms ready. Our room overlooked a junk yard and an interstate. The pool was full of drunks. The location is at the seedy end of 6th Street. It was an awful hotel stay. Never again!

Location is great! Kinda pricey. Hotel parking $28, & the guy with the dorky glasses working it was incredibly rude. Clean room. You can hear traffic on I35, but it wasn't unbearable. Front desk was nice. Got king w sofa bed for 4 people...no pillows or blankets for sofa bed, so I had to ask front desk to have someone bring it. Very convenient. You can't beat it, just walk down and lots of restaurants and shops to choose from. We really enjoyed the great location, we literally walked from out room down on to 6th street, and wasn't not really that noisey at all. I was extremely pleased with the Hilton Garden Inn. It is reasonably priced for a downtown hotel and is the perfect location for 6th street fun! The hotel has a walkway directly to 6th street so you don't have to risk driving after a night of hitting the local bars. The room was clean and the staff very friendly and eager to accommodate any request. […] My only dislike is that parking is not included with the hotel cost and a fee of $28 a night for valet parking is required. Well not only is valet outrageous at $26.00/night, the room we were staying was on the 15th floor but we still could hear all the traffic from the interstate. There were at least 4 different occasions where we heard fire trucks, ambulances or police sirens going off. Our sleep number beds did not work properly. The room was clean for the most part. […] Right before I was doing my last walk thru just to make sure none of our items were left, I look under my bed & find a bloody, nasty shirt that did not belong to my friend or I. You could tell it had been there for a while. It was the nastiest thing I've ever seen. I didn't tell the front desk about it because I had to get my friend to the airport & this was New Years Day. Very sorry that we stayed here. A private party on the floor above us kept us awake all night followed by very drunk people running the hallways. We stayed at this hotel for 7 nights, on our first trip in Austin. We started off the stay quite disappointed and frustrated. We got to our hotel early (around 1:00pm) and didn't expect to be able to check in (check-in is at 3:00pm), but a staff member at the front desk told us he could check us into an interior room (aka no view of the outside whatsoever) […] in the meantime while they cleaned up our actual room (which he said DID have a view). We thought this was very nice, since we were tired from our flight and were loving the idea of being able to lay down for a couple hours. When my husband checked back at the front desk around 4:00pm, he was told that the hotel was booked up, and the interior room was the only room available. My husband, not being one for confrontation, accepted this... but I was pretty angry. I went back to the front desk and explained our situation and what we had been told, and the manager immediately brought me to TWO rooms with a view so I could pick the one we preferred. He was very apologetic and did everything he could to rectify the situation immediately, which was GREATLY appreciated, and we got our room with a view - awesome, since we came from Maine to Austin and wanted to see some sights from our hotel! The front desk staff were always superb - most of the time they greeted us as we entered and exited the hotel, and they were extremely helpful any time we had a question. Awesome staff. Room was equal to rooms I have stayed in more expensive hotels. Staff was especially friendly and gracious, eager to serve. One misstep was I left a wake up request that didn't get made. Other than that, the price was very competitive with surrounding hotels.
