Check-in was supposed to be at 3 PM. We arrived at 3:15pm and our room was not ready. We waited at the lobby bar for an hour before I asked for an explanation as to why our room wasn't ready and then we finally got it. The next morning my sister found a cockroach in the shower. I have stayed at an Omni in NYC and expected a superb experience - this Omni disappoints. First, there were crumbs on the floor of the room when we arrived. Then, the tub was clogged and would take a long time to drain from a shower. The temperature regulation was broken and responded minimally. The worst part were the very noisy guests next door who […] were partying from 1-5 AM. The front desk took over 90 minutes to have someone from security to settle them down. This was especially disappointing considering how much the front desk stressed their "guaranteed sleep experience policy." The hotel looks nice on the surface, but is missing the details needed for a hotel of their star level. Small positives - the lobby bar and restaurant were good and the manager refunded some of the room charges as an apology for the poor stay. Omni properties are always nice and the staff is great. HOWEVER, I was staying here for 5 nights for business, and the WiFi was so weak it was simply inoperable. The hotel made me call their support and go through trouble shooting (knowing they had an issue); and in the end the support said, sorry, we can't help you. The hotel made the excuse that it […] was full and they had a conference, so the volume was to blame. That, in my books, is an unacceptable explanation - sustain an infrastructure to support you business, bottom line. After the fist night of no WiFi acces, I thought surely they'd address the problem - nope, same issue second night. The last three nights were better - they said the had to reset their server... Construction each day on floor above us starting at 7:00 a.m., turn down service left a bag of ice on counter & completely soaked my iPad cover ( thank goodness iPad was not in it), fire alarm one night which we didn't hear on our floor, but were awakened three times saying things were corrected. There was construction going on during our stay that I was unaware of when I booked the room. Our room had to be changed to one much less accommodating. Only 1 comfortable chair to sit in. Sirens going off and announcements of evacuation and emergency's just after we checked in and tried to rest after traveling. We called the desk after wondering what […] to do on the room on the 13th floor that they had given us. We were told to just ignore it. Thankfully it was an accident somewhere that tripped the alarm. I have to say the staff were all very nice and tried to make up for the inconveniences by tickets for free food and drinks. Once the construction is over things should be as expected. The walls are paper thin. We could hear all the great groaning from the couple next door at 2 a.m., which, coincidentally, is right about the time the hallways come to life as the drinkers come back to continue the party. This was on a Thursday and Friday night about 2 weeks before Christmas. Not a particularly party-type time of year. The front desk knows there's a noise problem and offered us this choice when we checked in: Take a room on the window side of the hotel and get lots of street noise, or a room on the atrium side of the hotel and get lots of hallway noise. Good news, it's possible to get both! We called to complain at 2:30 a.m. when the noise didn't stop. They sent up a guy about 45 minutes later to control the crowds. By the time he got there, it was quiet enough for us to get woken up again by his squawking radio, "All quiet on nine!" Thanks. It was. It would have been fun if we had been 21 and out drinking, too. But if you're an adult that likes sleeping and got all of this "Oh cool, let's get a hotel and get plastered with your roommates" thing out of your system 15 years ago, do not stay here. Read more

I have stayed at this hotel for about the last 4 tailgating seasons. We have been very pleased with service and the rooms are pretty nice until this stay. The servcie was still good but the room was awful! Would have been a good experience, but for their repeated messing up of the Club level breakfast. Paid extra for club level and breakfast thru 10 am included, but at 9:30 on Saturday all that was left for two of us was the heel of a slice of bread for toast and half a cup of coffee each. Noisey pipes, toilet ran on, lighting was poor. Staff was overly friendly, but unable to help with almost anything I asked. Just a smile, sorry but... Hotel has lots of potential especially considering the location, but it came across as under maintained, over-managed and over-priced, plus every little incidental led to additional charges.

Checked in at the same time as a colleague who booked via their web site - i got a 3rd floor interior handicap access room with a shower so loud and shaky I felt like i was showering in a waterpik/jackhammer. My colleague got a 13th floor executive suite. Great location but weird set up not worthy of Omni prices. Stay at the Driskill if you can.

The neighbourhood is good, just a couple of blocks from busy 6th street. This hotel is in a great location and has a good name. The rooms seem decent, and the concierge is really good and open late. I had a few issues though when staying here. When we first checked in, the room smelled very moldy and it took some time to air out. The next day, we found a cockroach the size of 1/2 a large hi-liter pen crawling on our cieling. […] The management didn't seem surprised by this and gave me a less-than-interested apology. Minimal noise is not tolerated, and the reactions are excessive. I was woken in the middle of the night not by a loud neighbor, but by a security guard and a hotel manager banging on peoples' doors telling them to keep it down. A bit ironic, no. I called and complained upon waking up that night, and a manager came up to my room and called me a liar. So bottom line - if the rooms had better upkeep and the late night noise regulations would be a bit more reasonable for a hotel in the middle of sixth street, I would have given it a more favorable review. The hotel lobby is gorgeous and check-in staff delightful. Our slightly outdated room was overlooking the lobby which wasn't as pretty from above. I wouldn't have complained had I not realized that our only windows in the room providing the only natural light were actually transparent to everyone below with no tinting. We decided to take a dip in the […] pool except it was a beautiful day and every other guest had the same idea with no room to even step out onto the rooftop deck. After riding the painfully slow elevators once again to get to our room we were greated by the noise of a bachelorette party in the next room in which we could hear every last comment made by 10+ girls. We were going out so never complained however once we arrived at 2:00 am to quiet and an amazingly comfortable bed, the cackling returned by 2:30 am with slamming of doors every 2-5 minutes with loud music as well. This continued for over an hour until the 2nd phone call to the front desk requesting some help with their "Good Night's Rest" policy. After the first call we were promised there would be someone come to their room and guard the halls however numous voices heard in room with slamming of doors persisting. Finally they sent a security guard, police officer and manager which required all the girls return to their rooms. I drove into Austin from New Orleans for a weekend trip. Upon arrival, everything was as expected; parking was easy (kudos to Omni for allowing painless self-parking). Check-in was easy and they accommodated my request for room location. The lobby area was nice. I expected a look and feel similar to other Omni hotels I have stayed in. Unfortunately, […] this one was not up to par, especially considering the price. The elevators seemed to be a bit of a retrofit--one elevator shaft only accesses upper floors and is on a separate (not linked) call button; the other three are linked and go elsewhere. This makes for some awkward waits because you have to manually hit buttons on both sides. The carpets in the hallways were stained and old, and the room smelled musty and of smoke, and was pretty small. Room fairly clean, though found an old pair of underwear lying on the floor in the closet. Interior was very dated and drab. Bed was okay, but not great. A/C didn't get very cold. Despite being on 16th floor, noise from nearby music venues was extremely loud until late hours; seemed to have inadequate noise damping. Mentioned this to the front desk, but they were full and could only offer earplugs. Perhaps some noise is to be expected when staying downtown in the "Live Music Capital of the World", but inadequate planning in this regard also seems unforgivable. No free WiFi. Friendly staff, but overall seemed as though the hotel was long overdue for an interior remodeling. Read more

The room was registered in my name and these gentlemen then attempted to prevent the 2 friends I was staying with from entering because I did not give their names when checking in - because I was not asked. After a spirited argument, we provided the guards with names and we were finally able to enter. The situation was ridiculous and it ruined my stay. It is a high end hotel and I understand the need for a quiet environment - but maybe you shouldn't open a library on Bourbon Street, yeah? Read more

Front desk staff was not overly friendly. Stay was not up to par relative to other hotels of this level. Toilet was broken and was not fixed until the third day we were there though it was reported the first night we were there. Cable tv was horrible! Picture was almost unwatchable. This hotel is two blocks from 6th Street, so if your room is on the San Jacinto side then you will hear the music until 2am. (I think this will be the even numbered rooms) On both nights other guests were noisy when returning to their rooms in the early hours.
