    Check-in was supposed to be at 3 PM. We arrived at 3:15pm and our room was not ready. We waited at the lobby bar for an hour before I asked for an explanation as to why our room wasn't ready and then we finally got it. The next morning my sister found a cockroach in the shower. The beds were so uncomfortable I am now unable to move my next to the right. […] The managers are sarcastic and rude about everything. Worst experience at an Omni ever! Read more

There are times on weekends when guests sleep late and leave their rooms past the noon check out time. We do our best to accomodate arriving guests and work to have all room ready on time.     I have stayed at an Omni in NYC and expected a superb experience - this Omni disappoints. First, there were crumbs on the floor of the room when we arrived. Then, the tub was clogged and would take a long time to drain from a shower. The temperature regulation was broken and responded minimally. The worst part were the very noisy guests next door who […] were partying from 1-5 AM. The front desk took over 90 minutes to have someone from security to settle them down.     Response by Omni Austin Hotel We are very sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us. Noise can be an issue as we are one block from the 6th street entertainment district. We do have additional security available on weekends to try to keep the hotel quiet but it can be difficult as we have up to 1000 people returning at late hours from the music clubs. I will address the engineering and housekeeping with the staff to insure we make corrections to the items mentioned. I do appreciate the feedback and hope you will returen to the Omni in Austin.

We could hear all the great groaning from the couple next door at 2 a.m., which, coincidentally, is right about the time the hallways come to life as the drinkers come back to continue the party. The front desk knows there's a noise problem and offered us this choice when we checked in: Take a room on the window side of the hotel and get lots of street noise, or a room on the atrium side of the hotel and get lots of hallway noise. Good news, it's possible to get both! We called to complain at 2:30 a.m. when the noise didn't stop. They sent up a guy about 45 minutes later to control the crowds. By the time he got there, it was quiet enough for us to get woken up again by his squawking radio, "All quiet on nine!" Thanks. It was. It would have been fun if we had been 21 and out drinking, too. When we first checked in, the room smelled very moldy and it took some time to air out. After riding the painfully slow elevators once again to get to our room we were greated by the noise of a bachelorette party in the next room in which we could hear every last comment made by 10+ girls. We were going out so never complained however once we arrived at 2:00 am to quiet and an amazingly comfortable bed, the cackling returned by 2:30 am with slamming of doors every 2-5 minutes with loud music as well. This continued for over an hour until the 2nd phone call to the front desk requesting some help with their "Good Night's Rest" policy. After the first call we were promised there would be someone come to their room and guard the halls however numous voices heard in room with slamming of doors persisting. Finally they sent a security guard, police officer and manager which required all the girls return to their rooms.     I drove into Austin from New Orleans for a weekend trip. Upon arrival, everything was as expected; parking was easy (kudos to Omni for allowing painless self-parking). Check-in was easy and they accommodated my request for room location. The lobby area was nice. I expected a look and feel similar to other Omni hotels I have stayed in. Unfortunately, […] this one was not up to par, especially considering the price. The elevators seemed to be a bit of a retrofit--one elevator shaft only accesses upper floors and is on a separate (not linked) call button; the other three are linked and go elsewhere. This makes for some awkward waits because you have to manually hit buttons on both sides. The carpets in the hallways were stained and old, and the room smelled musty and of smoke, and was pretty small. Room fairly clean, though found an old pair of underwear lying on the floor in the closet. Interior was very dated and drab. Bed was okay, but not great. A/C didn't get very cold. Despite being on 16th floor, noise from nearby music venues was extremely loud until late hours; seemed to have inadequate noise damping. Mentioned this to the front desk, but they were full and could only offer earplugs. Perhaps some noise is to be expected when staying downtown in the "Live Music Capital of the World", but inadequate planning in this regard also seems unforgivable. No free WiFi. The room was registered in my name and these gentlemen then attempted to prevent the 2 friends I was staying with from entering because I did not give their names when checking in - because I was not asked. After a spirited argument, we provided the guards with names and we were finally able to enter. The situation was ridiculous and it ruined my stay.
