Downtown Austin’s attractions include The University of Texas at Austin and the Texas State Capitol. Austin also lays claim to another capital: live music. Bars and clubs pack a half-mile stretch of Sixth Street. The gay-friendly Warehouse District is another nightlife hub, as is the SoCo District south of Lady Bird Lake. On summer nights, 1.5 million bats emerge from the Congress Avenue bridge.see all hotels in Austin
"Very nice and great location"
Very close to UT and the Capital.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Loved location for attending UT game and visiting campus. Problem with elevators under construction. Frustrating to use themGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Affordable nice hotel"
Very enjoyable! Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly! The room was spacious and clean....Enjoyed the suite! Needed more sugar and cream for morning coffee. Good stay!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"At the steps of the Capital"
The hotel was undergoing renovations during our stay and the finished parts look great. The final result should be well worth any minor inconvenience. Just a block from the capital grounds the hotel sits overlooking the city. Staff were friendly. Pool and outdoor amenities comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Clean, Comfortable, Close, Quiet"
Shuttle to 6th street (or 2 mile radius), Safe parking, clean spacious suites, free cookies, pool and workout facility, friendly staff, quiet, next door to capital, lots of older folks, but a few families too, beds were comfortable, whole stay was just comfortable. We wanted to walk back to the hotel from 6th street so we walked through the capital […] and ended up next to our hotel making it feel much safer. Nice hotel, decent price considering we showed up during the Biker Rally. Got shuttled to Congress Bridge as well to see the bats come out. Mostly just bars off of 6th street. Shopping is on Congress on the other side of the Bridge. Will probably stay on that side next time. Stopped by the cemetery, as well. Very cool. Very humid in area. Wear thin clothes. Bring a mister. "Outstanding service, location and facility"
Location convenient to both downtown Austin and the University of Texas. Service was outstanding by front desk, housekeepers, bar staff and parking valets.Genuine Expedia guest review
You think the Doubletree is going to be "top of the line". We had to come into town for an event we had to attend. Not realizing it was UT graduation weekend I was unable to find a hotel I was comfortable with a the last moment, and every hotel I think took the opportunity to double its rate. We had to come so booked the DT, to make it a special stay […] since it was NOT something we woud usually do. We go there and the air conditioner did not work the whole time. Unfortunately, even our event got cut short due to winds and everyone had to leave early. Trying to salvage the evening we thought we would settle in and watch a movie, we tried over and over, called and called, were told to try again, wait and try again-this going on for quite a bit finally saying it was not working we went to bed when they start knocking on the door to come in twenty min later. At normal pricing I would not have been so disappointed to be so let down. But to pay to have a bad date night four hours out of town that you might have at home was what was what was disappointing when in these days most don't have money to just give to them for their enjoyment and use for it certainly was not for ours. "Thinnest walls I have ever seen!"
My son and I spent one sleepless night at this hotel while visiting a local college. The staff were very pleasant and we were greeted with warm cookies. That is where the positive experience ended. The deadbolt on the door was off so much from the strike that it wouldn't close. The walls were paper thin and we could literally hear the neighbors entire […] phone conversation as well as his television, which was on until at least 2:00 am (even after the front desk called the room) The only way we were able to get to sleep on the incredibly lumpy & cheap pillows was to play instrumental music on my sons iPod. I would NEVER stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Overall fantastic hotel!"
We stayed here New Year's Eve and I have nothing but positive things to say about the hotel and the hotel staff. Our check-in was prompt, parking was easy, and our room was huge, clean and very comfortable. I would definitely recommend this Double Tree to friends and will definitely stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good location for business travellers"
Visiting during Christmas/NYE week 2012. Room is spacious and well kempt. Good view of the city (room 1406) and a nice balcony. Shuttle service is prompt; we used it for a ride to local restaurants that were a bit of a walk, or for pick up when the weather turned nasty. Location is a bit away from the action on 6th street but it's only a mile walk (downhill […] to downtown, slightly uphill on the way back to hotel). As long as the weather is nice, it was fine. Restaurant on premises is lacking, with limited menu and no espresso machine; expected more from Doubletree on this account. Elevators were temperamental; we got in on the 14th floor and pushed for lobby, then were shuttled to the 2nd floor, then back up to 8 and finally we were able to get back down after holding the lobby button down. Kind of scary. Housekeeping made some noise out in the hallway, and were less efficient over the course of our 4 night stay (might have been the holidays). They showed up at 5p on our final night to clean the room. For the price, it was a pretty good deal and we were lucky enough to have decent weather, so didn't mind the walks. Next time, we'll probably pay a few bucks more to stay closer to the action downtown. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Smart choice for an Austin hotel close to downtown"
Great location, massive rooms, everything clean and kept that way by very efficient housekeeping. Nothing too over the top, and nothing ignored. Just the right amount of service.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Good hotel 1mi outside downtown"
First, the bad: When we walked in, we saw little bits of paper littering the lobby floor. The guys who were supposed to tend to the doors never really managed to get there in time to open them throughout our stay. The right-hand elevator is missing its needle (pointing to which floor it's currently tending). The guy at the front desk offered us two […] cookies, only had one on hand, and then promised to bring us a 2nd cookie and never did. Only one of our two phones worked. The little kitchen had a nice fridge, and a little stovetop, but no way to cook things (and when we asked for some, we were brought old, dilapidated pans and no spatula). These little things contributed to our negative opinions. Second, the good. We loved the size of the fridge. We loved the beds (we didn't need two but they gave us two!). The free soaps were nice quality, and the bathroom was nice (though we like bigger tubs). The towels were nice and big. Nothing smelled bad, and everythign in our room was clean. It was nice overall. "Great hotel for a conference"
Check-in was prompt and friendly, and the warm chocolate chip cookie was a fun surprise. Everyone was helpful, friendly and I appreciated that every employee asked if I needed anything or if I was satisfied with their efforts. That was a nice touch, because so many places the staff act like if they don't acknowledge your presence then they can get past […] you. I arrived rushed and flustered and kept losing things, I was so grateful to find my items turned in and was able to pick them up at the front desk. When I called the front desk, housekeeping, or other services the phone was picked up promptly and my question answered with efficiency. The 15th Street Cafe in DoubleTree offered plenty of food options, and the food was good. The cafe seemed to be a little short handed, but the people working the breakfast shift remained pleasant and made an effort to be efficient. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Very close to the Capitol, restraurants and shops."
We had a wonderful stay at the Double Tree Suites by Hilton in Austin. Great hotel for a weekend stay! The hotel was nice and the food was great!Genuine Expedia guest review
I would have appreciated knowing that the hotel charged 18 dollarsplus tax per day to park. Perhaps you could add that to the description. I parked at a meter and it still showed up on my bill. Hopefully that got corrected.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

cleaning staff was horrible.did not clean toilets, give clean glasses nor did they come back to clean when asked.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel, except the pool"
We loved our stay. Yet, the pool is 3 ft. deep all the way around and we called for towels that we never received. This was the only thing we did not like as our suite was wonderful and room service was great. Just plan on swimming in another place in Austin if you are over 3 feet tall.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great stay, but need to rethink internet policy"
We had a great stay in Austin and the hotel was fantastic. You can tell it was newly renovated and I love the look and feel. My husband has to go to Austin every year for UIL and this was a great location for us. The only drawback was that they wanted to charge us for internet usage for every device. For our family, that would be 5 devices. I can understand […] being charged per room for wifi internet service (but not device.) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

First night was good, was not able to stay in my next reservation date because my husband got sick and had to go to the emergency , and I was charged for that day anyways ,other than that it was nice. ThanksGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel is good value. Bar is a little boring and I think that if you tarted up the dinnig room alittle then people would be more encouraged to dine in. Staff in dining room very pleasant but need to be a little sharper with anticipating needs. Would like to see weight machine in gym which otherwise is good. Room staff very good. S/B one wifi charge for […] room not per device. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Fire drill invasion"
Do not enter into a guests room until you have given them a chance to respond. My wife and I were awakened by a knock on the door. My wife starts to get up to put some clothes on and there at the foot of the bed is a young man checking the fire response speakers in the room. Needless to say we were very shocked that a hotel of this status would be so […] unprofessional with the way that they performed the fire drill as well as the way that we were treated after the incident. I immediately call the front desk to inform them and suggested that before entering the room they should have used the phone to insure its vacancy, his response to me was that the phone lines were down during the fire drill without realizing that he was on the phone with me at the very moment. Althought we did recieve free continental breakfast something that is normally free anyway. Free parking and internet access was also provided. I didnt choose this hotel so that I could recieve something for free I chose it so that I would be treated with service while on my honeymoon. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great hotel near The Capitol"
Our room was great. So close to the MS150 finish line so the walk to hotel after the ride was relatively easy. Only complaint would be the noise from the Double Tree sign being hung up on the side of the building the next morning.....woke me up earlier than I wanted to.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Friends and I were disappointed in the room and hotel condition. Bathroom in the room was not well maintained, cracked dirty grout and caulking round the toilet. Toilet seat hings rusty/dirty. Door hings to bedroom were broken and door did not close properly. Hotel undergoing renovations. Insesent jackhammering, elevators not working. Pool was closed […] 2 of our 5 days because it was cracked. Kitchenette was not stocked with cooking utensils, plots, pans, knives, bottle openers or anything that would be used to prepare food. Hotel bar was under renovations as well and closed most of the stay. Hotel staff was ok but did not have a friendly, welcoming demeanor especcially for the condition of the hotel at the time......as a frequent traveler I was shocked that the hotel was not "kissing guests butts" to try to make their stays better! "Construction site lacking cookies"
Lots of extra charges, parking garage was a mess with no full size vehicle parking spots. We did not receive cookies at check in. The shuttle bus was typically unavailable. I have stayed at this hotel several times and this was the worst yet!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We got a lousy room, with a shower that didn´t work (my wife got seriously burned by very hot burning water, on the day before running the half marathon), and the room had a bad smell, like that of humidity. When we tried to change our room, the morning after the first day of our stay, they did´n want to change it. They wanted us to wait until they […] had fixed the bath for a couple of hours. They finally did as we insisted. They don´t have free internet access. The only good thing is the location. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
My suite was handsome, large and completely renovated. The lobby is still under construction. Unfortunately, the service was poor. I called room service twice and they never answered. "nice hotel, but beware - OLD systems running with"
My room would not cool - the staff explained it is an older hotel... We put the a/c on 40 to keep the room about 70 degrees. Explained to me that the a/c doesn't work like a normal a/c - it is cooled by a chiller with cold water... Very old system. Additionally, very luke warm water - there will be NO warm or HOT water... Again, it was explained that […] it is just an old building. The staff brought up a box fan - but one of the blades were broken so it would stay balanced. Additonally, the hotel ran out of parking, there was nothing... The staff was very nice, the room was clean, and faclity itself was clean and easy to get too Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
