Good hotel, conveniently located South Austin, close to Airport, right at the intersection between I35 and BenWhite. Nice swiming pool. "close to daughter-sights"
Unhappy that I paid for 8 full nights, informed the manager that our daughter would be staying in the room the last two nights as we had an emergency and had to leave early. Our daughter arrived @ 10:30 pm and her room key did not work. The hotel had given her room away! There appears to be a lack of communication between the night and day managers. "Great Breakfast Buffet!"
The hotel is not really a "kid" hotel (lots of conferences) but between the awesome breakfast buffet (HALF price for kids!) and the indoor/outdoor heated pool, we had a blast. I loved the hotel and its indoor and outdoor pool area. Even tho it is next to a busy highway the room was soundproof as I could not hear any noise from it in my room at all. Quiet. My son and I loved the pool area. It was peaceful and beautiful and very clean. The place is very nice. The room was good sized. The location was close to the airport and an easy drive to downtown. The service was very good but it was a hassle to get a luggage cart without a bellman. Spent 4 nights over New Year's here, and had a great time. At midnight looked out over greater Austin to fireworks as far as the eye could see from our 10th floor window. The rate for the room is good, the only downside is that when they also caters to a convention or event, their staff are spread thin. At check-in, there were 6 guests and one big group checking in and only 3 staff at the front desk. Don't even bother with asking for Bell service, they're not equiped with manpower. Right off of 35/71 this is a quick freeway entry to any direction you want to go in Austin without being stuck in street traffic. We stay almost every time at the Omni Southpark in Austin. It is a pretty good location in reference to our daughter's home and main highways 290 and 35. The wait staff is friendly and always ready to serve. We brought our dog and the wait staff was always glad to see her and ready to give a biscuit. The only slight complaint is that I could smell cigarette […] smoke on the sheets and in certain places in the hall on the 2rd floor. My husband said he could not, so obviously it wasn't strong. We had never been to Austin Texas. We wanted to be close to downtown but not directly downtown. After a quick search on hotels.com which I trust completely, we found this hotel with all the amenities we wanted. We used the pool, gym, bar, restaurant and all. We were beyond happy. This site is not a standard OMNI quality hotel. I never take the time to write such reviews but I was very disappointed in the state of this venue - very outdated and noisy facility.
