DoubleTree Club by Hilton Orange County Airport

The stay was great. A little too fast, as this was what I'd call a 48 hour turn-around trip.Since there are two Double Tree hotels within three blocks of one another, we hit them both before landing at the "club". The personnel were great and the restaurant very good.

Hotel staff was very unfriendly...In fact RUDE at times...Never offered to help with luggage...In fact out limo driver went into the lobby and got the luggage cart and put our luggage on it for us and wheeled it into the lobby of the hotel....Staff just stood around and watched...Never an offer of ant help, not even to take it to our room....Told us […] we were to early for check-in and didn't know if he hadd a room...Our reservations were made several several months in advanced and was noted it would be an early check-in...Deck clerk was very rude and acted like he was doing us a favor finding us a room...Shuttle driver was very put out that she had to drive us to the airport even though shuttle service was offerd...Very rude...For a Hilton Doubletree it did NOT live up to the standards that Hilton offers....Will NEVER stay there again...... I couldn't ask for more for the price (clean, modern, beautiful surrounding, yummy cookies, refreshing lemon water) but if the noise in the hallway/next room/elevator was not the issue then I would have a better sleep. Sometimes the noise was felt like in my room itself, privacy seemed nonexistence which hurts the rating the most. I've rated the hotel a bit harshly, but it may only be the room I stayed in. I booking a non-smoking room so I didn't expect the room to smell of smoke. I left the AC on all night, but still made no difference. Front desk staff was extremely helpful and knowledgable about local sites and activities. Room was clean and well appointed. The lake setting and walking distance to small shops and eating places was admirable. The fitness facility left lots to be desired. First of all we are confronted with parking fee's for self parking at the rate of $11.00 which I refused to pay as it wasn't on the web site and then when we got back from our night at a party we were told that all the parking left was valet and it also was $11.00 a night and I also refused to pay that. The parking lot held approximately 40 cars so you usually had to have your car valeted, which either way parking was 11 dollars a day. Your credit card was charged $50 a day for "incidentals," the jury is still out on whether that will clear off my visa. Service was excellent and the bed very comfortable. The room itself had a vaguely moldy fragrance, temperamental remote and half-broke coffee maker (only one side functions). But shower and bed were clean and that's a big plus. Quick ride to John Wayne airport, but be prepared for airplane noise.

The shuttle to the airport was extremely helpful. The location near the man-made lake made for pleasant sitting and talking. Nearness to freeway was okay-no noise in room. I would stay here again-definitely. Only drawback was that it wasn't near food and since we didn't have a car available to us this was a problem.

Parking is the only down-side, at night they run out of space almost everyday. Stayed 6 nights, it was wonderful. Staff were awesome, the elevator ran slowly and one time went down making it impossible to get down in a timely manner.

Best part of this hotel is its location, a short drive to the Orange County Airport (and 55 freeway). :-) Lack of any sort of free breakfast in the morning annoying - I was not the only person wandering about asking where the complimentary breakfast, or even coffee, might be, This was about 6:15 am on a Sunday - the front desk was not staffed, and […] folks had to go into the restaurant (which was open to sell breakfast) to find an employee. One man was told to go ahead and take a coffee for free (there was no sign letting us know we could do this...and I had been charged $2 for a cup of hot tea minutes before.) :-( There was a small coffee machine in the room...but no teabags. The rooms were clean and nice - no microwave, though. This was surprising, as I thought a small microwave was as standard an item as a small fridge nowadays. My popcorn I planned to snack on remained unpopped. Nice touch to have the small fridge in a cabinet to cut noise :-) We were on the second floor - alas, the restaurant had been rented out for a party of some sort that night, and the pounding bass of the music was very hard to ignore, even through earplugs, as we went to bed at 10pm. :-( Read more

My enjoyed my two nights stay at this hotel, the only complaint was the charges on overnight parking. This is an area (Santa Ana/ Costa Mesa) with plenty of space so I don't think self-parking should cost $11 per night. Next time, I will choose a hotel in the same area with equal quality but free self-parking!

Lovely hotel. Staff very helpful. Breakfast was delicious and had better variety than most continental breakfasts offered at hotels. Only issue was that my room faced the freeway and I could hear cars driving by at night. Next time I would have requested to be on the opposite side of the hotel.

Below average for this chain. Our room had the wrong TV remote and the maid resupplied the empty tissue box with a total of three tissues (not an oversight). The front desk didn't seem to know when the bar opened, and the elevator was down. A little bad luck plus some lack of QC. I'll look elsewhere.
