Staff was awesome .had a wonderful experience .biggest complaint was rediculous wait to get my car back from valet parking upon check out ( way longer than 15 min ) and my credit card was overcharged at the bar 153 $ and it took almost a week to get it back

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Ellis Hotel. It was the last night of our honeymoon, and we loved the luxurious, chic feel of the Ellis. The furnishings were gorgeous: marble and glass shower, onyx sinks and countertops, plush down comforter, and opulent drapes that covered two walls of our room. My boyfriend and I recently came up to see the Chicago Cubs/Braves game. Nickole was AWESOME. We had no idea how to get to Turner Field and weren't sure if we should pay for a cab, walk, whatever. She told us exactly how to get to Turner Field using MARTA, and we made it RIGHT on time for the first pitch. My wife and I came through on a honeymoon for a couple of days and thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. We were within walking distance of the Tabernacle, where we were able to see a concert, and the metro line is right across the street from the hotel. The convenience, as well as the service, made this stay very enjoyable and highly recommended.

We went to Atlanta for one night just to get away. The Ellis is a great location and a nice hotel. We chose a local restaurant which was also very good, and enjoyed a show at The Fox Theatre. Both of these were within a few minutes of the Ellis. We parked in the deck behind the hotel which was fine, although a little pricey. It feels odd beginning a hotel review with the complement of the staff but I just have to do so. From the valet parker who met us as we pulled up, to the front desk receptionist, the the maintenance man we met on the elevator, the room service lady... everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. This is more than southern hospitality - this is taught […] and caught by this staff. Someone has worked hard for them to realize that it is all about service. When it comes to service... you will not be disappointed. I believe their slogan is something like, "Let us surprise you" Well they did. Now to the hotel - it is a unique hotel. This is a very modern refurbished old hotel. It gives the hotel a lot of character. We loved our room. If you are looking for an enormous room... you will be disappointed - our room was very adequate but huge. That said - no need for a bigger room. Modern bathroom, King Size bed, great view of Peachtree, and a huge flat screen television... the bed was very comfortable. Some have said something about noise - we did not experience any problems with noise and it was a huge football weekend (even a parade). We are accustomed to sleeping with a/c or a fan so the a/c running all night may have drown out the street noise. Even if that is the reason, you have to expect that if you are in a downtown area... you are going to have some noise - although it did not bother us. Parking - some have complained about a $25 valet parking charge. I am a frugal shopper so I got online and spent way too much time evaluating parking options. Here is what I found. You are going to pay for secure parking in downtown Atlanta. You can certainly skimp and park in an unguarded "lot" about two blocks away for $5-10 per day. You might want to drop your deductible to $0 because you will likely have a claim if you leave your car in an unprotected lot. This was a great hotel for my wife and I to have a relaxing date night. The room was a little small, but not cramped. The Terrace restaurant at the hotel was very good and was able to get us a seat on the terrace overlooking Peachtree st without any problems at all. I highly recommend this hotel.

The Ellis is an excellent little hotel in downtown Atlanta within walking range of tourist attractions, shopping, and dining. The rooms are smaller than modern luxury hotel rooms, but completely adequate. The two small problems that I experienced were with the front desk staff and noise in the hallway at night when the bars close down. Upon checkin, […] the front desk clerk was not focused on checking me in. He seemed to focus on everything else. When asked for an ID, I presented me with a US Military ID card and he wanted to argue that it wasn't an "official" ID card. A minor irritation with him-not a showstopper. I called later to have the valet bring my car around and the front desk clerk "forgot" to tell the valet. As we exited the elevator, I noticed that the reason she "forgot" was because she was flirting with some non-employee. Other than that, the service was excellent. Every person we dealt with was very courteous. This hotel was very nice, I loved the inside of the room, also in the inside of the hotel. I love the fact that you have to use a room key to go past the 8th floor. Beware they will charge 50.00 to your card for incidentals and it's 25.00 for Valet. But overall nice clean hotel

The Ellis Hotel is one of the best hotels I've stayed at using Hotels.com. My fiance and I had a welcome rewards free night from our trip to europe so our cost was little to nothing. That being said, I still would have paid the normal hotels.com rate for this place. Expect a fee for parking. We did $23 valet parking. Everywhere has a fee though, so […] don't let that deter you. Here are the key parts I look for in any hotel. 1. The location is fantastic. I'm not a big walker, but we walked to the Coke museum and the Aquarium and it was no problem. There are plenty of restaurants around and even an irish pub the next block over. 2. The room was nice. It was very clean and plenty big. I read reviews that complained about the size, but they've obviously never been to Europe then. The room's size is just fine. Maybe on the smaller side of the scale for american places, but there is still ample room for anything you need to do. 3. The staff was their key element. We got frustrated with the 1 way streets and parked in a meter spot and just walked to the hotel. The valet walked with us to the car, told us the turns to take, and then gave us advice on where we should visit. We were going to drive 10 miles to Fogo de Chao in Buckhead but he told us of another brazilian steak house just 1 block over. He's the one who told us about the irish pub and he made sure we knew about the complementary wine tasting in the hotel. He was so nice and helpful, he was definitely the best part of the hotel. The concierge people were just as nice and outgoing which made returning to the hotel very pleasant. By far, they were the best staff I've ever encountered.
