My husband and I were in Atlanta to hear an evening lecture at the High Museum of art and to view the exhibition. We stayed at the Artrmore, which is easy walking distance to the Museum (and to the Performing Arts Center too.) The Artmore is clean, comfortable, and unique. It has a beautiful open air courtyard, with a fountain and fire ring and trees […] and sitting areas. Overall, I liked this hotel. The room was very spacious and nice. However, it could have been a bit cleaner. There was a large stain on the bathroom floor and the tub was not cleaned very well. It was pretty great, the breakfast red bag was late however, and the bar is certainly over priced. I love Malbec so I ordered a glass- cork was in my glass of wine and it didn't even taste good; definitely not worth the $11 I paid. On the topic of overpriced, keurig cups tend to be about $0.50, selling then for two dollars in a hotel room is ridiculous. […] They don't even taste that fantastic and a Starbucks coffee is two dollars... So needless to say, do not waste your two dollars. Other than those negatives we had a great time. The Artmore is a very nice place, close to Midtown and Downtown Atlanta. BUT the staff and valet need help. Upon check-in the staff failed to tell me that you could only open your room door by turning the handle up, not down. I had to make a frustrating trip back to the desk to get help. "Nice location, a little run down"
Overall my stay was very nice. I stayed for two nights and had no issues. Room was clean and spacious. Staff was very friendly. I was a little surprised at the condition of the room. It seemed a little rundown. For example, paint needed work and wallpaper had patches where things had been repaired. No big deal, I just expected more for the reputation […] and money. My biggest surprise was a call from the housecleaning department in the morning asking if I wanted my room cleaned. At higher end hotels, I always expect my room cleaned and towels replaced the next day. Probably not a big deal, but if I was still sleeping and the maid called to see if I wanted my room taken care of, I would be furious. Maybe stop by my room and see if the do not disturb sign is on the door. Again, not a huge problem. I liked the hotel and location enough that I would stay again. "fun girls' weekend out"
Had a great stay here on a weekend getaway with some friends. Loved the unique decor of the hotel and the atmosphere. Yes, the building is older, and if you look very closely a little rough around some of the edges, but on the flip side you also get nice details that you don't find in most of your standard, sterile chain hotels in the same price range […] - things like the real marble tiled bathroom floor, individual doorbells for each room, windows that open, etc. And overall, the updates/rennovations seem great - the mini-kitchenette/bar area in the room, the shower head was great and there was plenty of hot water, and the beds were super-comfortable. The portrait of Audrey Hepburn in the room was a nice touch, and appropriate at least for our weekend :) Also loved the courtyard with the fountain and gas fire. The service at the front desk did leave a little to be desired. When we checked in they gave us keys but told us the wrong room number; later when we called from the room to ask for extra towels they said they would bring them right away, but we never did get them. Also, when we returned late (but not too late) from going out dancing, it took a while to round up a valet guy to re-park the car for us. But other than that it was a good stay. I would recommend. Stayed from Friday to Monday in November. We used MARTA to travel anywhere, so it was very convenient to stay at this hotel. However there were not much in the area like convenient stores or places to eat. On Saturday evening, there was a party or event with loud music and I had to call at the front desk. Mall was close by but if you walk, it will take 20-30 minutes with a lot of traffic. We had a fun family weekend in Atlanta and made the reservations with our children listed along with there ages. I think it would be nice if the "love Package" ,that is sitting in the room for sale with condomns and lubricant in it, could be taken out when a family is staying in the room. I felt like royalty from the minute I pulled in until I pulled out the next day. The Valet opened my door, asked what luggage I had and had it to the front desk before I even got out of the car. "Quiet, well priced hotel in downtown Atlanta"
While check in was a little bit abrupt, overall the service was excellent. From the bar staff to the front desk later on in the night everyone was very helpful. I had prepped for the automatic $19.95 valet service coming in, but wasn't aware they that they do a $25 "incidentials" charge when you sign in ($20 of that being the valet service). But overall […] with the value of the hotel the $25 was nothing. Also yes, there is a vending machine on another floor with nearly the same items as the stuff they charge at a much higher rate in the room. Pros: Accross the street from the MARTA and a good location in general for any midtown experiences. Rooms were clean and overall hotel was clean. Older hotel with some character to it. Nice courtyard, but unfortunately couldn't spend time in it because it rained for 2 days. Cons: Beds very cheap and uncomfortable. Slept in a hole for 2 nights. Beautiful hotel! Very clean, lots of good info and directories available for those unfamiliar with the city and surrounding area. Great Midtown location, valet available for drivers and across the street access for those who need to use MARTA. Front desk staff and valets are very friendly and accommodating. Bar service however, very poor. The bartender […] had the audacity to change the TV from a basketball game I was clearly watching to a sitcom, and then walked away! A girl came to relieve him, not that charming of a girl. Stone faced and unwelcoming, I waited 10 min with an empty glass in front of me before she decided to acknowledge me and offer a drink. (This all took place in a totally empty bar!) The next night, I went to get a drink to take back to my room, she couldn't even make eye contact with me. "A little luxury - at a price."
We were attracted by the images of the public areas (contemporary & stylish) and the rooms (simple but elegant). The parking valets and front desk staff were friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. The bedroom was as pictured, & nicely kitted out. The space between the beds & walls was tight, making it hard to manoevre a suitcase in and out of the […] room, and to open & close the curtains. The bathroom was below expectation, & needed a facelift. Corners were grungy and caked with old dirt, tiles were stained, the water temperature in the shower and sink were hard to adjust. Plumbing from nearby rooms was noisy in the night. We arrived late in the evening, exhausted & hungry, but not inspired by the offerings in the bar (there's no restaurant). Front desk sent us on an unsuccessful bus trip to huge shopping area, we finally ate a great meal at nearby Nan's. This hotel is not inexpensive & it was disappointing that absolutely everything was an additional charge. The room has a fully stocked minibar and other amenities, but prices are outrageous. E.g. $18 for a mini-bottle of cheap wine. $2.75 for a small bottle of tonic. The room has a coffee maker, but coffee is $3+ per cup. Breakfast is $10/person. If you want 'complimentary' coffee, it's only available in the evening from the bar. Valet parking is $19.50 per night. All these prices are before tax and tips. Be aware that there is a required $19 valet fee, as there is no where to park your own vehicle and no where on the website giving potential customers this information. Rooms are very noisy due to late activities at the hotel, as well as from the outside environment. Upon arrival to the hotel, our suite that we had reserved (one king-sized bed) somehow […] was "unavailable", and were forced to stay in a room with two full-sized beds. Clearly this was not what we had already paid for to reserve, and was disappointed as to the lack of apology from the staff. In conclusion, this was not what we had expected at all.
