The only problem we had on our stay was the elevators were out so we had to use the service elevator. Other than that the hotel was wonderful. We stayed there for the UofL championship games and the hotel was really nice, especially because it was on the street right where everything was going on. "2 bedroom suite needs updating badly"
The suite was huge but looked like it hasn't been updated since the 70s. Water temperature was very hard to control, it went from cold to scalding hot with just a little movement of the knob. I burned myself several times. They also did not provide hair conditioner unles you specifically asked for it. The hairdryers provided were also terrible. On the […] plus side, the service was great. "Great hotel, but the restaurant? OY."
I have stayed at the Georgian Terrace at least 6 times and in that time, I have had generally positive experiences. My main reason for returning is because the location is perfect, the rooms are very nice, the gym is actually quite functional for a real workout and is open until midnight, WiFi is excellent and free, and the rates are competitive. The […] only problem, and it is consistent, is anything having to do with Livingston restaurant in the hotel. Service there is atrocious; you can wait 5 minutes before someone even realizes you are waiting for a table. Waiters forget you are seated without a menu. Then they forget what you order. Then they forget to bring you the bill when you ask for it. Then they forget to bring you a PEN with the bill. This has happened so many times I plan my meals around it; I start waving at staff the minute I walk in, I ask for a menu as I sit, I ask for the bill when the food comes, and bring my own pen (this visit, I needed it 3 out of 4 times). The food, by the way, is excellent. Room service is also from the same restaurant, and they seem incapable of keeping up with demand when the hotel is actually booked. It took me 30 minutes to get through to room service, then another 1.5 hours to get my food. If I hadn't been exhausted from work, I would have gone out but I just took a nap while I waited. Over all - stay here but don't eat here if you can avoid it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"great location, dusty room and rude valet mananger"
My wife i chose the georgian bc it was right across the street from the fox and we were going to see a show the next afternoon. We checked in the evening to shower and change before we went to dinner. i called down to see if they had a complementary shuttle and was told very shortly by the person that answered the phone that they had one but didnt know […] where the driver was and didnt know if it was going to be running any more that night ( 8pm on a sat night) I asked if he would mind finding out and let me know. i waited 20 min and finally went down stairs after we finished getting ready and asked the valet manager about the shuttle. he said he driver had left. i asked him if he was the person i had talked to and he said yes. I asked him why he was so short with me on the phone. He said," what does short mean?" i said you know, a little rude. he then looked at mean confused and said, " me rude? no! you were rude. you asked me a question and i answered it and then you come down here and ask me the same question." i didnt know what to say, so i walked away. i let the shift manager know. she appologized. the next day after we got up, we were getting ready and noticed how much dust was on our lap top and phones. then my wife started looking at head board, and blinds and noticed a lot more dust. it was very surprising. i have always heard great things about the hotel Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Hotel.. GREAT location.. staff could use work"
When we arrived at the hotel we drove up to valet and got our stub, my friend saw a luggage cart over on the side of the walkway that no one was using she brought it to the car, one of the valets was very rude and took it from her saying that she couldn't use it and if she wanted to use it she needed to ask someone to do it for her. I asked him why […] that was and he snickered and told me that "all city hotels are like that" as to insinuate that I didn't travel much, which I do and to large 4 and 5 star hotels. We chose NOT to use a cart. When i went in to register the lady that checked me in was very nice, i asked her about the cart and was informed that this was something that THEY chose to do because they have run into situations where carts are not brought back down to the lobby once guest get to their rooms, this was understandable. I had asked when i checked in for an extra set of sheets and bedding in general, it was a night we were going out and incase i had any one that couldn't drive i wanted to make sure there was bedding so they could sleep on the couch, i was told that it would be sent right up. We checked in at 4pm. The room was clean but the tub did not drain well when you took a shower. We called back down to the front desk at 7pm when we still did not get our bedding and got voicemail and left a message asking for it again, left at 9pm, got back at 3am and still no bedding, called down again and finally got the extra bedding 45 minutes later. "Overnight stay - not totally impressed"
Being a younger customer, doesn't mean I'm ignorant to the ways that the service industry works. The room was decent, the tub drain was broken so we had to call down for a plug, the huge white party could have been announced at check-in, and when doesn't a hotel bring your car around especially when you are paying a good amount to have your car parked? "Nice Hotel, No Room Service On Saturday"
My wife and I stayed here overnight after watching a show at the Fox. The hotel was clean, the room was nice and the staff helpful, except room service. We were looking forward to enjoying breakfast in our room on Saturday morning. We started calling down at 9AM. We called every 15 minutes until 11AM. Once someone picked up the phone and said they were […] "busy setting up" and "would call us back." They never called back or answered again. On check out we commented this to the front desk manager who simply said "well, they only have one phone line back there." Bottom line, nice place to stay if you don't need any service. Otherwise I'd check out one of the other hotels in the area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Upgrade"
Hotel was chosen because of reputation and location. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Everything was clean and well kept as expected. Linens were luxurious and comfortable. Only complaint was we had requested a room with a king bed. Upon arrival we were told we had been upgraded to a two bedroom suite. The upgrade was actually meaningless as it was just […] my wife and I, both beds were fulls, that made for some cramped sleeping. The kitchen was a nice feature but useless, don't expect any flatware, glasswear, dinner wear, or cook wear. Three flat screen TV's were nice but meaningless as well. Bedding size request is a big deal. Getting a good rate might have made the hotel more willing to change our accommodations. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"upgrade but uncomfortable furniture"
I booked a standard room they where out of these so the front desk upgraded me to a two bedroom suite. They were quite nice and did not try to get me to pay " a little bit more". the valet parking was very easy. the furniture in the room was old a very lumpy. I had to use pillows from the bed to sit on it.. the suite was very nice and the bed comfortable. […] I would suggest the hotel provide some plastic silverware in the kitchen. I wasn't completely impressed with the hotel. My husband and I were both woken every hour through the night from police sirens. At one point I heard a gun shot. "Great Expectations"
Being somewhat of an Atlanta native (lived there for 10 years), I'd heard great things about the history of the Georgian Terrace. The hotel still boast how Margaret Mitchell hosted her opening of "Gone with the Wind" there. The hotel meeting space is immaculate, unfortunately that seems to be where all the money you pay in room rates. We stayed in a […] 2 Bedroom Suite. It had a great Kitchen, washer and dryer and dishwasher. Mush to our dismay, the kitchen has no dishware of any kind, the sheets that were put on our beds were tattered and torn and the paint in all the rooms was peeling off the walls. Service was okay, when we complained about the sheets, we were given restaurant coupons (which was sold out that weekend). Not bad for the money or the location, just don't expect a grand antebellum hotel... That, too is GONE WITH THE WIND :) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"a little disappointing"
Looks great from a distance. Expected smaller details to be there. Toilet tissue was one-ply. this is a 3 1/2 star hotel. No blackout drapes so street lights come into room at night. "Just ok."
I booked a one bedroom suite, but it was over booked so I was given an "updated" king room. Not at all what I wanted. It had 3 closets which made no sense to me, no in room fridge, or mini bar, no bathrobes that were mentioned in the room description. Service was ok at best, staff was less than helpful and the two calls I did place to the front desk […] seemed like an annoyance to the person I talked to. The check in desk was unmanned at 3pm where I had to wait to find out that the room I booked was not available. Not the experience I would expect from a supposed 4 star hotel. "Motel w/ an expensive lobby and great location"
Nice lobby, not so nice everything else. Parking sucks at $25-30 a day. "Only one elevator"
Overall, it was okay. If I didn't get such a great rate on hotels.com, I would have preferred to stay elsewhere. The front desk attendants seemed frazzled and hurried (I think there were multiple weddings that night, which may have been the reason.). After checking in, we discovered that only one elevator worked, so we had to wait for almost 20 minutes. […] We would have taken the stairs, but we were on the 8th floor and our bags were quite heavy. No one offered to help us either. Once up stairs, the hallways smelled of mold and mildew. Our room was nice, clean, and comfortable. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the size of the room was quite spacious. However, I doubt I will stay here again. "Historic property needs work"
Room was lovely and comfortable, if a bit worn. But only one working guest elevator meant long waits and several climbs up multiple flights of dimly lit, poorly ventilated and grimy stairs. "Georgian Terrace Hotel"
The rooms need a facelift. Tattered chairs, dingy mini blinds while the drapes are well done and expensive. The layout of the room was odd probably because it is an old hotel. Towels and sheets could be of better quality. Room too small as well. Elevator was down so using the service elevator was not efficient. The best part of the hotel is the P&P […] pub downstairs. Just opened but they need to advertise it more. Great food, chef and service! The lobby furniture needs to go as well. Does not match the historic quality of the hotel. "Decent, but not great"
Overall, this was a nice hotel, but my particular room was nothing much. It was a small corner room. I could clearly hear people out in the hall even with my door shut and the TV on. The blinds were cheap and didn't block out light very well. Since this was a busy part of town, there were lots of lights outside that I would have liked to block out while […] I was trying to sleep. The curtains were only faux curtains. You couldn't actually pull them closed over the blinds. The bathroom was tiny as well. I was on a business trip and was traveling by myself, so the size of the room and the bathroom was okay since it was just me, but would have been frustratingly small if I'd been traveling with my significant other. "service not worth the price"
The hotel itself is very nice, well decorated, comfortable, and clean. However, for the price of your stay the level of service should be much higher. Valet parking for overnight is quite expensive, and they charge you for things like local calls, which I find ridiculous. We were staying here the night of our wedding, and my sister spent days trying […] to arrange to have a gift basket waiting for us in our room when we arrived. After being assured multiple times that it would be there, it was never delivered to us and she had to spend a lot of time the next day trying to track it down and have it delivered to her hotel 3 blocks away. "Georgian Terrace: Nice, But Understaffed"
I reserved two rooms for a Friday nite stayover. I asked for an early checkin and was told they couldn't accommodate us. We went to eat at Mary Mac's (Fabulous!). Rooms still weren't ready at posted 3 pm checkin time (and not just for me, but also for several guests checking in). The front desk staff took my phone number and said they'd call me when […] the room was ready. After 30 mins, I checked back to see how much longer. The room was ready but no one called me because they were too busy dealing with other guests trying to check in. I asked for an extra hour late checkout on Saturday morning and was denied. I moved to another hotel and checked in 2 hrs early. This is what happens when a hotel is properly staffed. Needless to say, I won't be staying at the Georgian Terrace again. "Old world charm in the heart of Midtown"
If you like boutique non-chain hotels with character and a little quirkiness then this hotel will appeal to you. A historic building that was first used as a bachelor residence, then turned condo, then turned hotel. It was redone very nicely, the rooms are well appointed and the location is fabulous. "Not a 4 star hotel. Maybe a 3."
The Georgian Terrace is in a good location near the Fox Theater and is undergoing renovations to make it the "modern classic of Atlanta." the lobby is great, however the rooms leave much to be desired. There was constant drilling and hammering throughout the day and just outside of my window was a very noisy ac unit for the hotel. The bathroom smelled […] sour and the sink would not drain. I reported the sink 3 times. The Internet access is ok during the day but at night it slows down tremendously. Also the water pressure is the shower is pathetic. The history, architecture, location of this hotel was fabulous. Also conveniences such as pool, gym and kitchenettes were wonderful.
