"Hidden pet charge."
Room was decent and clean it was however a "reformed smoking room". It had that stale smoke covered by air freshener smell. Overall though it wasn't terrible and didn't bother us enough to complain. My major gripe was about our pet (6 Lb chihuahua). I checked the policy before booking wich said "pets OK" and when we checked in walked her in on her leash, […] HOWEVER the next morning the person at the desk demanded to know my room number and informed me there was a $15.00 pet charge. When I asked why I was not informed at booking OR check-in he said he didn't know but it didn't matter I still needed to pay it. My husband and I were in town to attend a convention. In hindsight the hotel was a little far from downtown, which is where we needed to be. The location made city travel inconvenient (that is of no fault of the hotel though). It would've been nice if the hotel shuttled to the train depot, that would've saved us significant time. The room had an unpleasant, moldy odor. The bedspreads seemed dirty and very old, and the carpet was definitely dirty. Hated to walk barefoot on it. Bottom 2 floors are motel, top floor hotel. No problems with people smoking in the hotel. Breakfast includes hot items. Off on a side street, near shopping, resturants. The room was clean and well kept. The only problem we had were some guests who were having a late night party on one of the flights of stairs where they was a picnic bench. We were in town for 2 nights to visit our son. Hotel was comfortable, clean and perfect for our short stay. I would recommend this hotel for an overnight short stay, but not a destination stay.
