The Rio Grande and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains shape Taos’ rugged environment. Both geographic features are main tourist attractions. In the summer, rafters take to the river; in the winter, skiers flock to nearby ski resorts. North of town, the Taos Pueblo is a National Historic Landmark and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Most of its adobe structures were built between 1000 and 1450.

The breakfast was amazing, the hotel is lovely but the neighborhood is a little sketchy at best. We woke up in the middle of the night to shouting and a domestic disturbance followed by the police surrounding a room the next morning. That could have just been a bad night on a weekend, the second night was much quieter, however the staff was lovely and […] the hotel is nice. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good for the price"
The hotel was in a conveinient area, and the bed was comfy. The problems we had was we tried to check in a little early to our room and the not so friendly staff told us that we could not check until 3pm. So we came back slightly after 3pm and we were told that our room was still not ready, and we would have to wait. We told them that we needed a room […] asap and they said they would put us into a different room which was great, but upon arriving to our room we found dirty clothes wadded up in the window seal and also dirty razors in the bath tub which led me to believe that the room and not been cleaned. Again it was a comfy bed and a good nights sleep which is all that matters, but they could really beef up on their housekeeping. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
very large rooms. beds comfortable. clean except bathtub has stains....not dirty but stained. Breakfast is included. Choice of Spanish omlet....cheese omlet....other choices not including eggs.....only one beverage....coffee or juice not both. Would stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A 'Route 66' like hotel that lives on!"
In many ways, this is a great older motel that has been kept up pretty well over the years. It still has a lot of character but don't expect it to be like a Holiday Inn but maybe that is a good thing. Everything is clean but not necessarily spic and span and certainly not brand new but it still is comfortable and is Alan heirloom of the past with some […] history. The dining room, lounge area, banquet rooms have style that is missing I modern motels. I prefer that but that is a personal choice. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"On the North Side of Taos"
Hotel is in a good location if you are going to Red River or Taos Ski Valley. The room's are old but decent. The free breakfast is something and eggs (eg, toast, biscuit, pancakes). The hot tub and pool are in good working order. However, I'd stay somewhere, especially if you have your wife with you.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for visit to historic sights"
started off bad as my reservation was not received correctly. staff was able to correct the error, but was less than excited. hotel and room had a lot of traditional flavor although it could use better upkeep and maintenance. location and price were perfect for a quick visit to all of the historic sights.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Can walk to Plaza"
Good location, can walk to Plaza, Adobe Bar. Slow bathtub drain and toilet seat that wouls not stay up were irritating. Good rates.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Value and Location"
Nice clean place. Have stayed there several times. Clean rooms though dated. Breakfast in the morning is very nice and convenient. Great location to walk to night life and head up to Taos Valley to Ski. The Valley is nice but is kind of dead at night so this is a better option. Rated 3 as there was no 3.5 which is a better overall assesment.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great location"
The location was great and for the price, the hotel wasn't bad. The included breakfast was blah at best. Some of the amenities were not available to us when we got there. Restaurant closed at 8:00 pm, hot tub not available as there was no security. I realize this was off season, but it seems they could at least stay open for posted hours.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Budget comfort, close to sights"
The hotel wasn't fancy, but it was comfortable and conveniently located. The lounge was a nice amenity. The bathroom window pane was not secure. Overall, a good, reasonably-priced hotel in the heart of Taos.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good location to square"
Stay was average, older hotel, lousy TP, old outdated fixtures. Otherwise, they try to maintain fairly well. Cost compared to newer properties was a little high. Breakfast was not the best in terms of choice or quantity.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not what we read about to buy in!!!!!!!!"
Desk young woman not friendly & should offer more info at check-in. For instance - map of area & where you are, state that free breakfast is a sit down order with only 5 choices, plus she was defensive when I stated that the room was NOT cleaned after the first night! With very few there, they should give you a downstairs room with no one above - a […] lot of noise in the early am when you want to sleep! They shold also have towels at the hot tub - orher places do have. Slde window in bathroom needs to be fixed. Could not get on internet in room. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient to Taos Plaza and shopping"
Room was adequate, service was adequate. Buffet breakfast, though a hot meal, was very average. Liked the Taos Family dancers around the 'fire pit'. Availability and access to plaza for this busy Taos weekend (due to San Geronimo festival on Sept. 30th) were two most important factors and price was reasonable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hello New Mexico"
we were not very impressed with our overall stay here. When we tried to check in we apparently were too early. When we did check in, we were given a room on the second level in a building far away from main lobby. Once we entered the room, the smell of cleaning agents was very bad. There was a balcony off the front side of the room which we thought […] would be nice to sit out on but once we opened the door all we could see was pigeon mess everywhere and it didn't look like there had been any cleaning done on the balcony for some time. So we weren't going to sit out there at all. On the first day we requested extra towels and never got them. On second day, our room did not get cleaned until after 5:00 p.m. Excuses given that they only had 2 housekeepers. Told us many times that all rooms were full but we didn't see many cars on property to indicate this. The reason we stayed here was by recommendation of a relative that is was a Best Western Motel. However, once there we found out that was no longer true and now owned by a private party. It wasn't a total disaster but I will not refer anyone to stay there. The new owner apparently has his hand full and needs a lot of help. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"room was cool...."
Our room was nice. Good thing it wasn't winter. Went to the lounge located inside the main office and it was pretty run down. Bartender sent guests down the street to a "real" resturant. She said not to eat the food. The location was great. Right at the entrance to Taos Pueblo. Less than a mile to other resturants and the plaza. Location was awesome. […] Room was nice. "Good for a few nights stay to visit Taos"
It's charming, truly a reflection of New Mexico and Pueblo culture. But has seen its best days and appears to be drifting away from its former glory and in need of an up date and new energy for the staff, mainly the house keeping! For the price of a room through Expedia it was wroth the stay, but I would not pay what the Lodge asks for booking directly. "Taos Revisited"
Over the years I've stayed here many times. The overall hotel is great, a flash to the past, of the earlier days of Taos. Still retains much of its charm. My room was a budget room, was fine comfortable, really clean except for the carpets, needed cleaning!....This hotel is pet friendly, lots of area for walking the dogs! There is a complimentary hot […] breakfast, I arrived at the end of the breakfast buffet, less than desirable. Arrive early and you're in good shape and sometimes they provide breakfast per your order. Yes, I would stay here again. Know that they have nicer, larger rooms for more. "Close to shopping and restaurants"
Ok hotel for the money. Close to town shops and restaurants. Poor T.V. reception. Good place to stay for inexpensive room but would not choose if planning to spend a lot of time in your hotel. Free breakfast was decent but more staff needed for breakfast service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was very old. The rooms needed to be up dated. It was clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Mediocre at best. Except the included breakfast was great as was Ivy the waitress.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Pleasant, somewhat dated, in the heart of Taos."
It was a pleasant place to stay, and we enjoyed the dancers from the Taos Pueblo. The room was clean enough but not spotless. The location was nice - quiet and peaceful, yet close to everything in Taos. The breakfast was disappointing and our waitress was not very nice about bringing clean napkins when we asked. "Lackluster in Taos"
The hotel was sufficiently clean. The staff was pleasant. It was slightly disappointing because the hotel advertises a Kachina dance nightly & there was none. The hotel dining room was closed so I had to go into Taos for dinner. It was Sunday so many of the restaurants were closed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location"
The motel is in a great location. It needs a lot of upgrades. The rooms are old and dated but the price was right. They served a decent breakfast which was nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient"
60s motor inn, quiet, clean but dated. Hot breakfast included from limited menu. Within walking distance from plaza. Rooms & bathrooms large.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Could have been better"
The room was not ready upon arrival, the people prior staid late. The TV was still on when we walked into the room....a dirty wash rag was left on top of the shower curtain rod and formed to it. There were bugs and cob webs. A chair in the room had NEVER been cleaned there was a stain from peoples heads. It was hot and the heater said it was off. I […] could see that the soap was purchased from best western. Some of the staff that I saw were nice....one did not care about the fact the place was not clean because I have paid for the room prior. It is in a good location for walking into town. "tradition counts for return customers..."
The rates were exceptional which means that we can overlook things which might otherwise bother us. Most annoyances were small things such as poor lighting, slow-to-drain sink, no tissues in the bathroom holder, area under the bed had not been vacuumed for quite a while, I'm sure. I think at this stay they were over-whelmed by large groups thus appeared […] to be understaffed. "Hot" breakfast was so bad that we went only one time, then decided that we were deserving of better! Hopefully as the season procedes input from guests will help them get their quality back to what it has been. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"You get what you pay for"
This hotel was acceptable relative to the price. It was clean and the location was convenient. However it has seen better days. If you are fussy, try someplace else. If you have a sense of humor and can adjust to rather sparse service, the price is right.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location, not a great stay"
Every day the room smelt overpoweringly of some nasty cleaner. Everything had been painted a few too many times. Not the highest quality sheets. Ants in the bathroom (in February???) Room was dark. Not enough outlets.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Barely making it, but good breakfast"
We had to wait 30 plus minutes to get a roll-away bed, paying extra (there was only one bed in the room) We spent two nights and the room was never serviced (no change of towels, no making bed, no cleaning bathroom) The complementary breakfast was good and the dinning area personnel, very friendly and on top of thingsGenuine Expedia guest review

The hotel is in need of refurbishment. Our room was missing 3 light bulbs, the bathroom was in need of a makeover and tub bottom was stained and walls patched.
