Although the place was not kept up or very clean it met my need at the time. The breakfast offered was so limited I should have gone to McDonalds.

Hotel is run-down and in a part of town where there were a lot of transients in the parking lot and walking by. The room had a smell and the phone was falling apart. The hotel has seriously deteriorated since I stayed last year. The room was not made until 4 pm on Saturday and we didn't get fresh towels.It smelled. The room key had to be rekeyed twice and others had the same problem. Would not stay here again.

The hotel needs to hire more help they cant keep up, also some maintenance on the rooms wouldn't hurt to freshen them up, new calking, new paint replace ugly tiles. It's not bad but it could use some sprucing up. Also when someone calls in sick on a holiday, they should be FIRED!!!

The common hallways and individual room carpeting was worn and dirty looking. Same for the bed cover, which covered a lumpy mattress. The bathroom lavatory, toilet and bathtub were not clean. The pool is the best thing about this hotel. I had trouble w/the room keys not working. The place needs insulation. There were dead flies in the dining room window ledge. Promptness is a foreign word. My room was not ready until 4 p.m.; promised for 3 p.m.

Have stayed there in the past and decided to re-visit the hotel primarily due to price. Once again, you get what you pay for. I didn't remember the staff being so "'disinterested". Barely made eye contact while registering, answered questions with one word answers. Apparently they had a fairly large family reunion at the hotel. Had to go to the next […] building for ice - got there and it was padlocked without a note saying where to get ice. Dining room was closed, didn't seem important enough to mention. The room was just OK. Did not like walking on the carpet without shoes, had that slick, sticky feel from too much spray on freshener. Thick dust in the corners of the rooms. They only vacuum where they can reach without too much effort. That is ok daily, but the dust was so thick it hadn't been vacuumed well in months. The coffee shop in the morning was not ready to serve anything but coffee until about 45 min after opening. The once again, "disinterested" server did however, pour our coffee. When she did returnApparently the "cook" overslept. That happens. Instead of offerring the menu, they said they had a buffet breakfast because of the reunion. No problem. Although this hotel is in a great location and setting, the upkeep of the room did not include the toilet or sink. I had trouble getting some extra towels, and the clerk was rude. The whole hotel needs to be remodeled and updated. Everything is out dated. My room did not have a coffee maker nor an iron or ironing board. I called the office in the morning for an iron and iron board, but the front desk did not have a key and had to wait for the cleaning staff to come in, so I went to my meeting with wrinkled clothes that day. The hotel was shabby and in need of some repair. They had soap dispensers in the shower that ran out of soap which was never replaced even after the front desk was notified. I had to go to the front desk to get a new roll of toilet paper. We were able to select a free breakfast from a limited menu in the coffee shop and it was ok. I'm a very simplistic person. That being said here is my experience with a one night stay: 1# I had trouble checking in; mgmt. couldn't find my reservation thru Expedia. It took some time for calls to be made, etc. This was pre-paid and I had paper confirmation. 2) I went to dinner and stopped by front desk to ask for addtl wash cloth and kleenex #none […] in room). I was told since housekeeping not on duty the cloth is unavailable and the hotel has no more kleenex due to convention held 2 wks earlier. 3) Ice Ice Baby - a scavenger hunt took me to 3 locations on property before I could fill a ice bucket. Once in room I discovered I no cups were provided to put my warm soda into. 4) The room was not well maintained; water ran from tub faucet when turned off and bathroom had pest problem. We booked ahead, and thought it was a Best Western. Only a few rooms available, clean and open, We went to our room and my wife could barely breath due to the musty and damp conditions. The other two couple had tried to move as well but were unable to and it was late. After the front desk made a phone call to someone we were put into another room. The heat was on and it was clean. We are a group of three couples who would not stay at this place on our next time to Taos unless major renovations/ upgrades were made. I do not recommend the Kachina Lodge because of the mice in one of our rooms and because the breakfast was terrible. For an inexpensive stay, I guess that the thin sheets and no bar soap in the bathroom could be expected. The rooms were comfortable and the location is great because one can walk into town. This lodge needs upgrading.

Hotel room was in poor repair. The hotel is designed in pods and the only working ice machine was in the pod as far away from oursnas possible. The shower had very little water pressure almost like standing under a dripping faucet. The location was great for us but the hotel not so good.

The Kachina hotel has gone down hill. The toilet was leaky and intermittently noisy. The lighting in the room was terrible. We stayed here for the Taos Wool Market. It's a great location within walking distance of not only the Wool Market location but also most of the restaurants and shopping in Taos. Sadly, this hotel seems to have some financial issues though. It appears that they have lost their Best Western affiliation and that very little maintenance is being done. […] The rooms were clean enough but very run-down and there was a significant shortage of towels. There is an entire block of rooms that has been closed since February (this is October) due to a gas leak and needed subsequent renovations. It appears that what they've done is just take the extra beds out of that building and shove them into the rooms in the next building over - making rooms that should be singles into doubles. Overall, the staff was friendly and it was an okay place to stay but prepare yourself for a shabby room. Hopefully whatever is causing the issues will be resolved soon as this is really too great a location for it not to be a nicer facility. Read more

This must have been a magnificent motel in its day. Its location in the heart of the land of enchantment makes it reason enough to spend a night here. Unfortunately it has seen better days. The location of the motel is great! Close to sites and shopping, but the overall stay was fustrating and dissapointing. The first room we were in the AC didn't work. We had to change rooms and we were moved to a smoking room, with steps. My husband is handicapped and this made the stay more difficult for him. The sheets were paper thin and the bedspread […] hadn't been washed in a long time. The bath tub was filthy! It looked like they had painted the porceline and it hadn't been cleaned in a months. The overall condition and cleanliness of the room was poor. The free breakfast provided the first day was very good. We were able to order off the menu at the coffee shop located inside the motel. The second day the buffet was suppose to start at 6:30 am., by 7:30 a small amount of eggs and gravey had been put out, but if you weren't the first few in line you were out of luck! When booking this hotel I had confidence in it and was expecting a very nice hotel. Unfortunately, upon arriving we were told to come back in a couple of hours to check in and that was not a problem. When we came back a couple hours later we were rejected again and then had to return a couple of hours later to finally get our room. This was the room we were waiting for all day, however, when we came back the hotel threw us back way in the back and up two flights of stairs and was not the room promised. We had to complain and then wait to be transferred to a room by the pool and dancers. We only stayed in Taos for 3 days and the hotel was ok for what we wanted to do; however, it was very dirty, the front desk ladies were rude, and I would never do it again or tell anybody to go there. This hotel had no regards or thoughts for any of its customers or staff. I honestly could not every go back and stay there, me and my family were very dissapointted and depressed that the hotel was nothing like its pictures or did not live fully up to its expectations. Not Best Western standards and all references to Best Western such as signage and room indicators have been removed. Not an area where you would want to be out after dark. Restaurant was the best feature with a friendly and competent wait staff. Overpriced for the room, location and amenities.
