"Great service, extra firm beds"
We arrived ahead of check-in time with our 3 yr old and 16 mth old. We expected to have to wait, but were warmly greeted and told our room was ready; fantastic! The room itself was on the first floor (bummer), facing the pool (no privacy if we wanted to let natural light in by opening the curtains) with two -very- firm queen beds and the Hilton's usual […] "pillow nuggets" (why they can't provide larger pillows is beyond me). The TV had interference (black lines) and the AC ran loudly in 10 minute on, 2 minute off cycles, endlessly. That said, the room was clean, the shower had good water pressure and we heard -zero- pool noise despite a handful of kids splashing about; not bad. We requested a crib for our little guy; it arrived 3 minutes later with a smile (we've waited as long as an hour elsewhere) - awesome. The next day, the unthinkable happened; I closed the car door on my own finger… splitting the nail, resulting in a ton of pain and a fair bit of blood. I went to the front desk with hopes they might sell me a bandaid. Instead, the extremely gracious gentlemen (Dane) told me to hang on as he ran to the back office, returning with (no joke): sterile gauss, medical tape, a sanitary wipe, a bottle of cold water and a packet of ibuprofen! Before I could ask if he could put it on our room bill he told me it was all on the house and to come back if I needed anything else; truly above and beyond. I was very pleasantly surprised by how great this hotel was. Comfortable room, right across from the beach, great pool and lawn area (with ping pong table) -- so great for kids. "This was an upscale motel"
I really wanted to like this place but the bathroom was run down and you could hear the people in the rooms next to you. We paid extra for the ocean view and it was foggy plus we were put on the first floor.....not much of a view. Not staying here again. "Easy walk to beach!"
We went on a whim to Carlsbad and checked in to the Hilton Garden Inn and were really pleased! It was across the street from the beach, lots of restaurants nearby and the staff were so friendly. Hotel & Grounds in general was very clean and well kept. Nice bright lounge area with lots of windows that let in the warm SoCal sunlight. This is a Motel 6; the room was small, not comfortable at all. The bedding was so cheap you could see the mattress cover, didn't even have a real comforter. My overall experience with Hilton Inn was good. I didn't think I was going to be happy staying here but I was wrong. The kids loved it, at night they have kids/family movie that they play on the lawn on a big screen. This hotel sealed the deal on a perfect vacation. They greeted my tot with a stuffed animal upon check in. We enjoyed this hotel very much. We stayed here for two nights while we went to Legoland. It was very close to Legoland (one mile away). They have a free shuttle, but we chose to drive to Legoland so we could go immediately to dinner afterwards. The breakfast is great!!! Eggs, omlettes, waffles and pancakes to order. This hotel was clean, new, and very nicely located right next to the freeway. We had a view of the ocean from our room. The beach access is kind of difficult to get to, but once we got down to the beach we had it all to ourselves. The kids loved the pool at night and we sat and sipped a drink. Very close and convenient to Legoland...and hotel offers free shuttle to take you anywhere within 5 miles. Only downside is that although hotel is right across from beach...it's mainly a high-elevated, cliff-side beach, with slight difficulty for children or elders to walk down to the shoreline. We were looking for a hotel near the San Diego zoo and the beach and this one totally fit the bill. Yes, it's a 30 minute drive to the zoo, but it's an easy drive, even on a work day. "Best hotel I've stayed at for kids"
I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone who is in town for Legoland or has kids. First, they gave my boys (4&6) little stuffed sea animals at check in. They were delighted! The room was very spacious and clean, and the beds were comfortable. What made this hotel stand out for us is the outstanding customer service. they went out […] of there way to make our family comfortable, and not want to leave. And they were soooo friendly and helpful. They brought free popsicles out to the kids while we were in the pool. They had movie night in the atrium area both nights where they set each family up with our own blanket to lay on and a blanket for everyone to cover up in. They came around with free popcorn during the movie, and had free cookies in the lobby. The business center was fabulous for pre-purchasing and printing our tickets. It had very fast computers and printers at our disposal. And then the happy hour food, drink specials, and breakfasts were outstanding and reasonable priced. We booked this hotel based on it's proximity to the beach, thinking we would be there a lot. But with great pool, movies, and spending time at the attractions, we didn't get there once. We picked this hotel because of its location to the beach. Past reviews say it is hard to get down to the beach, and it isn't easy. But it isn't hard either. The beach is almost empty due to not being able to just get out of the car. Totally worth it. Rooms were clean and maid service was excellent (although for some reason we had a hard time getting trash bags???) Front desk was ok. On our last day, one girl was caught rolling her eyes at my wife when she asked for a banana. Again, that odd, please leave me alone attitude. Pool was nice and you couldn't hear the noise from the room (facing it). Pool is only 4 ft deep, so it isn;t the greatest, but hello ocean! Partial ocean view is a joke, but better than the street. The area is nice, be careful as there are some questionable areas nearby. So don't be suprised if you go somewhere else and are in the ghetto. Overall, great hotel. Really enjoyed our stay. We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights and had a package which included breakfast each morning. The hotel was very comfortable. The location was good, only a short 5-10 minute drive to Lego Land, a couple minute drive to downtown Carlsbad, and about a 30 minute drive to SeaWorld. Das Hotel war über den Feiertag "Labor Day" natürlich sehr gut gebucht und dadurch kamen die Zimemrmädchen nicht mehr mit der Arbeit nach. Unser Zimmer wurde erst gegen 16:00 Uhr gereingt.
