The privately owned Orchard Hotel is a boutique property located two blocks from Nob Hill and Union Square in San Francisco, Calif. The theater district is positioned 3 blocks away.
Hotel Features.
Opened in 2000, the non-smoking Orchard Hotel boasts a marble-clad lobby decorated with a waterfall fountain and a bronze-cast statue dubbed "Spring Awakening." The hotel chef purchases produce for The Daffodil Restaurant from small organic farms and prepares dinners of New American cuisine. Gracious table settings include linen tablecloths, Rosenthal china and jewel-handled Athena-pattern silverware. Fanciful lighting illuminates a bar that serves whole-leaf teas, specialty cocktails and more than 100 selections of wine.
The hotel's function room provides natural lighting and accommodates up to 20 people. A lobby laptop computer is available for guest use, and 24-hour front desk staff offer fax and photocopy services. Complimentary wireless Internet access is provided throughout the property. An exercise facility is equipped with cardiovascular equipment and the hotel offers discounted passes to a nearby full-service fitness center.

The 10-story Orchard Hotel offers 104 guestrooms styled with soft-toned fabrics and subtle dove-gray diamond-patterned wallpaper. Designed for the Orchard Hotel, the furniture consists of nyatoh Balinese wood. Beds are draped in 400-thread-count Egyptian cotton linens. Armoires contain DVD and CD players with 5 surround-sound stereo speakers and complimentary movies. All accommodations feature complimentary wireless Internet access. Room amenities include coffeemakers and minibars. Bathrooms feature marble-top vanities, inlaid marble floors, Art Deco light fixtures and Organic bath products.

This hotel has everything going for it except for ownership. During our last day in San Francisco, the hotel began remodeling work in the dining room. unfortunately, the work continued well past 10:00 pm and only slowed down because of the numerous complaints from guest trying to sleep - the only real reason for a hotel room. Other guests and i were […] basically told we were unwelcome at the hotel by a woman later described to me as one of the owners of the hotel. Work did continue as i heard it until at least 3:00 am - although much toned down from the hammering that had gone on before. for someone in the hospitality business to not even apologize for the noise is totally unacceptable. although our room was on the second floor, others were disturbed who were on the seventh floor. Excellent hotel to stay.The location was 50 ft or so from cable car stop (could not hear any noise from the cable car in our room) and about three blocks from the gates of Chinatown. We parked about 30 ft from the main door and walked up to check in then the asst manager walked down with me and helped me unload 4 suitcases to bring up to the lobby.as […] I was doing the paper work he loaded them on a cart and took they up to our room with my wife(4bags because we were on a 3 week vacation and a 10 day cruise) Where do you see that?? "Everything at the Orchard Hotel was great."
Arrived early (posted 3:00 PM check-in) so the staff offered to store the luggage while we explored. Within 10 minutes of our return, all pieces of the luggage arrived to the rooms. We requested rooms close together (traveling with our 2 kids) - ours were adjoining!! As for the location - 100 feet from the Powell Cable car stop (Powell & Bush), 3 blocks […] from Union Square, 4 blocks from Chinatown and it seemed to be close to hundreds of eating places. Room was very clean, spacious sitting area and larger than average bathroom. Afternoon turndown service was a nice touch. Did not use the restaurant or exercise room. The hotel room was very nice! It was well-appointed, quiet, and worth far more than we paid. The most outstanding feature of this hotel is the location. My daughter and I were able to enjoy shopping in Union Square and Chinatown without using our car.(one block to the Chinatown gate and two blocks to Union Square) It is also right next to Powell Street […] so the trolley car could have taken us to the Wharf if we had decided to go. We loved our recent four-night stay at the Orchard Hotel. The location was excellent, near Union Square, Chinatown, cable car, shopping and restaurants. Our room was very large with two very comfortable beds, a large desk, big closet and a large bathroom. Robes, pillows, sheets, coffeemaker, fridge were all high quality. We have stayed at the Orchard on several occasions. We return because it is located in a great area of the city. Only a couple of blokcs fron Union Square with all of its shopping opportunities and right next door to China Town. There is a cable car stop right on the corner and if it's full cabs are easy to grab. Just be sure and retrieve everything […] from your car before they park it - it takes some time for them to retrieve it and it can get pricey if you come and go - so make sure to park and wlk or take public transportation. The room was spacious,very clean and the bed was sooo comfortable.There are down comforters and high quality linens on the bed. The position of this hotel could not br better, only a couple of blocks from Union Square, and the hotel staff were excellent with nothing being to much trouble. We are from the UK and hired a car for our visit, the Hotel offer a Valet parking service, which although quite expensive at $40 + tax per day was very useful to us and allows multiple outings […] and pick ups at no extra charge. We did check out some local self parking, but this was at a rate of $38 per day so the $40 did not seem to be unreasonable. Das Hotel liegt sehr günstig zum Union Square und hat die Cable Car direkt vorm Haus. Trotzdem sehr ruhig, es sei denn man hat ein ZImmer direkt über der Haltestelle der Cable Car - darauf sollte man achten. Die Zimmer sind geräumig und bis ins Dateil durchdacht - z.B. guter Fön, reichlich heißes Wasser, Platz für die Koffer, genug Schrankraum, Bett […] sehr komfotabel mit Bettdecke und verschieden dicken Kissen.
