Nearby, City Hall’s golden dome sparkles amid the Civic Center’s concrete gray. The live arts thrive at the San Francisco War Memorial & Performing Arts Center, one of the nation’s largest. A five-tiered Peace Pagoda marks Japantown. Castro District, the city’s main gay neighborhood, is a short ride away, as is Haight-Ashbury, the counterculture bastion that is a gateway to Golden Gate Park.

"BEST SERVICE!"
Wow!! The staff goes above and beyond to make your stay perfect. Everything from the hot towel at check-in, complimentary bottle water, complimentary tea, water, and coffee all day, complimentary breakfast, wine and cheese reception daily....... The front desk was so helpful with directions and suggestions. They are all about customer service! I will […] definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
A very nice stay. The staff was particularly pleasant and the neighborhood is beautiful. I had no problem with parking on the street over night, which can be an issue in residential san francisco neighborhoods.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent place to stay in SF"
We really enjoyed our stay and found 99% of everything to be perfect. The service was amazing, the hotel lovely, the neighborhood incredible. Their self-serve tea/reading room we enjoyed, as we did the wine tasting and the breakfast. The one percent holdback is due to something they can't control - it's a charming wooden structure, which meant that […] we could hear our neighbors upstairs walking around late at night. Otherwise, and even included, we'll gladly stay here again when back in town. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"walking distance to good and the sights"
We enjoyed the quiet, friendly atmosphere, the delightful continental breakfasts, and the location which was perfect for us. We walked through the Presidio, to the Ferry Building, and even over the Golden Gate Bridge. There are many good restaurants within a reasonable distance of the hotel as well. Castagna Cafe on Chestnut Street was a good find; […] we ate dinner there twice and both times it was quite good. We had a most pleasant experience at The Hotel Drisco and look forward to our next stay! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"beautiful gem in a perfect neighborhood"
LOVED the Hotel Drisco. Like staying in someone's elegant home. Staff was helpful & gracious. Room was perfect as was food and service. I will come back again!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quiet & high-end residential area"
Great room, big and clean. Friendly and helpful staff. The only downside is that there is parking so needed to self-park on the street. But I found a spot relatively easily and nearby.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Everyone was SO nice!"
For being over 100 years old, the hotel is in great shape. We upgraded to a suite upon arrival and enjoyed the view of the city. With so many windows, the sun baked the room all day, then it was tough to cool it off (no A/C), even though it was chilly outside. All the staff is exceptional. We loved the included breakfast and an evening wine & appetizer […] reception (the best meatballs I've ever had!). Would recommend this hotel to all. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Our New "Go To" Hotel in San Francisco"
We really loved our 5 night stay at the Hotel Drisco. Clean, well kept up room, comfortable bed, and a nice, quiet neighborhood. The staff were very polite and always more than willing to help with anything we needed. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to San Francisco!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Outstanding!"
The Hotel Drisco took us completly by surprise. The service of everybody working there is outstanding. Thumbs up - BIG TIME. We felt like "just being at home". So much love for details . . . the breakfast, the complimentary wine in the afternoon, the newspaper in the morning, the cookie for the night, the waterbootles with the Drisco logo, everything […] in the bathroom and so on and on. You have to come and visit it yourself. We used to do a lot of traveling for our jobs. That leads us to the statement, that this hotel goes beyond . . . We can highly recommand this hotel and we are looking forward to come back again. And another plus: Pacific Heights = such a beautiful neighbourhood!!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great boutique hotel"
Nice quiet part of town. Ample parking. Helpful staff. Easy access to Golden Gate/Wharf. Will stay again next time in SF. Upper rooms with "better views" not always necessary given the fog factor though when the fog lifted on our departure day the city views were wonderful. We stayed on a lower room and simply went outside to get the views we were looking […] for. Note, breakfast at hotel had some good variety and food quality was excellent. "Great for couples/business travelers."
Hotel Drisco was by far the best hotel my husband and I have ever stayed at. We were there on our honeymoon and the staff made it feel like nothing less. They were very helpful and always had an answer to our questions. Our room was wonderful, very nicely kept, and we loved the location in Pacific Heights. We are still raving about how much we enjoyed […] our stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Peaceful & quiet"
Very enjoyable. Staff was especially gracious, enjoyed the afternoon wine and cheese. The one day hop on/off was a sufficient overview of the city (an short walk to the pick up station). Our walk across the GG bridge satisfied another one of our bucket list items. Lots of restaurants and shopping in walking distance. You probably should use a cab or […] hotel shuttle to get to fisherman's wharf or union square areas. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful hotel + neighborhood"
Lovely location, rooms, and extras including wine receptions every evening and great breakfast. Old hotel so some issues with noise - there was a child in the room above us running laps so recommend top floor.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A great experience"
It truly is an experience. If you enjoy a personalized stay with your needs being taken care of by a dutiful staff then this is it. Also, great food you can walk to is just a hill away.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very comfortable welcoming hotel"
Great amenities. Great cold breakfast in AM. Nice wine and cheese in PM. Sitting room off front door very comfortable. Overall very comfortable and welcoming hotel. Staff goofed on some of their information - they said cab from SFO would be $40 to $50 but it was more. They said it would take 10 minutes to get a cab. It took far longer, so long in fact […] that they finally told us to walk several blocks to a major intersection to catch a cab instead since the wait would be so long. And this was after we'd waited 10-15 minutes. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great place to stay!"
Okay. This only applies to the rooms other than the ground floor rooms. We recently booked a stay with Expedia and had to upgrade our room because the appointed room was on the same level as the dining/fitness room. AKA the basement. We're weren't keen on staying in that room so we upgraded to an upstairs room. Well worth it. Staff is friendly and very […] helpful. Good tip for people with cars - they have 3-hr street parking only, but the staff can move the car for you (very nice amenity). Also, the breakfast is continental plus - includes protein (cold meats, cheese, hard-boiled eggs) plus the food staff can make you an espresso, latte or cappuccino. Great place to stay if you like non-downtown living, but careful of the hills if you walk from the city to here. it's at the top of the hill. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful Hotel"
Loved the afternoon wine/cheese display. The breakfast was also lovely. Felt a little isolated from the "tourist' stuff. But beautiful old quaint hotel.Very nice staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by The Hotel Drisco I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us! As a matter of fact, we specialize in isolating our guests from the "tourist stuff!" If you want to be conveniently located not too far away form all the beautiful sights, sounds and smells of San Francisco, but not right in the heart of the hustle & bustle either, then there is no better choice than the Hotel Drisco! Kind Regards,
"Don't Stay in Rm 109; Marginal Biz Ctr; Very Good"
Booked room well in advance. When got there, room not available for several hours as they were working on "getting it ready". Room 109 is next to elevator, 7/24 main desk, and on the landing for all of the stairs - very noisy. Don't believe it is even often used but hotel was full. Was able to move to a better room for last two nights. Biz ctr very […] small - no ability to even look at PowerPoint presentation. Bkfst excellent extended continental. WiFi unreliable in sitting room; better in rooms as routers are under each bed. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by The Hotel Drisco I am pleased to report that we have already addressed the issues mentioned in this review. Specifically: * At the time of the review our new Business Center computer had just been installed, and unfortunately our computer expert had not yet been able to load the latest version of PowerPoint. It is now installed. Regarding the size of our Business Center, it is a well-appointed and very comfortable office containing one computer, one printer and a variety of other office amenities. For a small, boutique hotel, it has always met our guests' needs very well. * This week we are installing a new, state-of-the-art WiFi system. Over a decade ago we were one of the first hotels in San Francisco to install the first generation of WiFi, and we believe it is time to invest in a new system that will better meet our guests’ needs for connections on a wide variety of devices at very fast speeds. * Our check-in time is 3pm, and while we try very hard to accommodate our guests who arrive early, it is not always possible to do so. * Room 109 is one of our larger Deluxe King guestrooms, and it is in use just as frequently as any of our rooms. Like other rooms, it can be affected by noise in the surrounding areas. I am very sorry the noise disturbed you, and I am glad that we were able to accommodate you in a room more to your liking.

"Very Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I read online about this hotel and in recent books. The reviews were all positive and they were right on the money. Is a little pricey, but the location and service are worth it. The people at the desk get to know you and are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Ask for Bob, he has great suggestions about the city. Enjoy!!!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Delightful hotel in a beautiful neighborhood"
Such a beautiful hotel! The staff is very helpful. John (at the front desk) cheerfully went online, checked us in for our flight home, and printed our boarding passes. They even moved our car for us, so we wouldn't get a ticket. It is street parking, but we had no problem finding a spot (and no parking fee). The complimentary breakfast was excellent. […] It reminded me of the breakfasts we had in europe. There was a nice evening wine and cheese reception (also complimentary). The staff turned down our bed each night and left delicious chocolate cookies. The hotel toiletries smelled wonderful! (lemon verbena) In general, we had an excellent experience at the Hotel Drisco. "Great Hotel in an incredible neighborhood"
This is a wonderful hotel in an absolutely stunning neighborhood. If you want to get away from all the hustle and bustle of San Fran this is a great place. You'll feel like you are going home at the end of the day. The breakfast and wine tasting was a very nice touch. I will stay there again for at least part of any trip I make to San Fran.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice Hotel"
Very clean, staff was very friendly. Would stay here again. Pluses: Free Street parking was not a problem. Many restaurants in walking distance. Nice quiet neighborhood. Free breakfast. If I was to be nit-picky I would say the things I didn't like: Not much sound insulation from rooms above or the hall, although not surprising for building this age) […] and I had hoped for more of a view from it's position on the hill, but really couldn't see much. "Nice hotel in Suburbs.... not for the young"
Nice hotel in the suburbs.... far away from the business of the attractions of San Fran. Not close to public transportation, need a car. Parking is not easy, but staff lets you know where you can park so you dont need to move your car every three hours. Breakfast is decent, lots of fruit. Gym is small and smells kinda weird. Hotel room is decent sized […] and well equipped. They give you these nice cookies every cleaning... nice touch. Staff is very nice and tries to help you any way possible. Just isn't really a good hotel for your first stay in San Fran, if you want to be close to the center and be close to touristy things. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A San Francisco treasure."
Charming small hotel. Quiet, lovely residential neighborhood. We have stayed here for years--- starting when guests could buy bacon by the slice at breakfast. Not terribly close to downtown, but that is the reason it is so quiet and peaceful. Helpful staff. Our favorite hotel in San FranciscoGenuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel is nice but need some renovation"
The building is located in the nice neighborhood, but the buildinf has a distinct smell of the old house, especially in the lower level where we stayed.Genuine Expedia guest review
"No parking, no heat"
No parking. Move your own car every three hours (before 6 PM). Staff knew little about restaurants, etc. Only one thermostat for entire hotel. No individual control of temperature in rooms. Was informed there was a space heater in closet if we got too cold. None existed. Should you need a space heater in a suite? Quaint...yes. Nothing near by. Worth […] it...not a chance. "Hotel Drisco in Pacific Heights, SF - delightful"
We had a lovely stay at The Hotel Drisco. It is a charming, boutique hotel, well located in the stunning Pacific Heights section of San Francisco. Our only issue was that despite a reservation over a week In advance, we were put in a room on the dining room floor (another term for the basement) across from the kitchen. The one window looked out onto […] a quaint, internal courtyard, and into the kitchen window on the other side of the courtyard. It was a somewhat noisy location, with kitchen sounds, and noise from the building's heating system. It's really a minor issue, as all other aspects of our experience were lovely. "Great hotel"
My partner and I have travelled a bit and stayed in some really nice miser hotels with great designs. But the Drisco hotel in San Fran is by far the best. Staff are really friendly and helpful, rooms are very nice with a lot of light coming through, bed very comfortable and in a great location. 5 min walk to Filmore st and union at. They have complimentary […] coffee and breakfast available every morning and from 4-6:30 free wine with cheese board. Who does this? Beautiful relaxing hotel. Decked out for the holidays. The breakfast was delightful. Our room had glimpses of he Golden Gate Bridge, wow. Nice restaurants to walk to in the neighborhood. "Difficult to fault"
It is difficult to fault this hotel, which scores highly on all fronts. Good spacious rooms, excellent breakfasts, a pleasant drinks and nibbles session each evening, very helpful and competent staff, and a high end location. One of the best we have ever stayed in.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great small hotel."
The location of this hotel is a little out of the main centre, but there is a free shuttle service to get you down town. It is a good location for the Presidio and Fillmore areas. There are many small upmarket restaurants and it feels safe at night for getting around.Genuine Expedia guest review

"A little Gem"
A little gem of a hotel. Beautiful boutique hotel on Pacific Heights. No 2 on Trip Adviser and I'm only surprised it's not No 1 (but I haven't actually stayed at the Fairmont so perhaps I'm biased). Our room (suite) was fabulous with every little comfort and the king bed was so comfortable it was difficult to get up in the morning. Breakfast was superb, […] even with little jars of English clotted cream to put on your scones! It is a liitle way from the downtown or Fisherman's Wharf action but they do provide a complimentary chauffeured car to Union Square in the mornings and you can use a cheap 1/3/5 day bus/cable car pass to get around after that. Car parking is on street and handled by the hotel staff who move the cars around as needed. The reception/concierge staff are so polite and helpful and make you feel really important. All the remaining staff are also friendly and helpful. In my opinion it is very good value for money and you will leave feeling really good and wanting to return. One tip to end with...do try to see Beach Blanket Babylon at Club Fugazi while in town. "Delightful stay"
Everything about this hotel surpassed expectation. The warm welcome is always a good start and that followed by being given a nice room with the view requested on booking confirms it. Unexpected bonuses like compilmentary breakfasts and evening wine together with light snacks all added to the event. All staff were so freindly and obliging .Have to say […] that the hotel's neighbourhood in Pacific Heights was outstanding, Just lovely and very quiet! The only downside was perhaps the room was a little small. Bit like a Paris hotel room, very tight especially the bathroom but having said that it was beautifully appointed and all in all our stay was about as perfect as it gets.
