"great hotel, interesting part of town"
My only complaint was the breakfast. Just bread and coffee and juice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Had a wonderful time! We went to a concert at the Fillmore and it was only a short cab ride to get to the venue. We were also close to a lot of awesome restaurants and bars. The room was very clean and comfortable. I slept so well even being so close to such a busy street. I would definitely stay here again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great San Fran Room for a great price"
Great hotel. This is not a 5 star hotel but the rooms are comfortable, clean, and parking is free. Staff is VERY nice. They allowed us to keep our car in their lot even after we checked out. Hotel is close to Chestnut street which has great places to eat. Our room (301) had a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Also, since the hotel is on Lombard […] street, the tour buses can pick you up at the hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed in 307 and although it is on the street the noise was minimal. The breakfast is nothing special but at least they have one. It was convenient to the bus and Walgreens is across the street too. Would definitely go back and stay here. Clean rooms.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great little hotel in a nice area. Staff was very nice and helpful. I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very helpful and friendly staff. We were there for the 4th of July. Our party came in to late for us to go down to the pier for the fireworks. The owner invited us all to the rooftop and we were able to all enjoy a great fourth of July.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Despite arriving 4 hours late by plane delay reception was polite and quick! Very helpful advice as tohow to easily get to various piers! Delicious breakfast to start busy excursions.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close to the Marina District in San Francisco"
Appreciated having free parking in San Francisco. Close to the Presidio and Marina District. Continental breakfast was nice to get the day started. Room and hotel are pretty basic but did include a refrigerator and coffee pot. Walking distance to restaurants and shops.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was not expecting a lot from this hotel. We were just needing a place close to the Golden Gate Bridge to crash for the night. I was pleasantly surprised. The woman greeting us was very helpful. We were doing a big bike ride the next morning and were concerned about where to park our bikes. She generously offered to keep them with her at the front […] desk. As it turned out, our room was large enough that we could keep all 4 bikes in the room without any problem. The room was nicely redone, clean and comfortable. The only downside of this hotel is that it is on a busy street. We stayed in a room on the backside facing a hill and this helped with the street noise. I would stay here again. I absolutely loved this hotel and the next time I go back to SF I will be staying there again. It has a great location. Within walking distance to the pier and good food and cute shops.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Best Experience EVER"
I loved this hotel. I love the small quaint feel. The breakfast has a little to be desired...I got much better breakfast at a chain hotel on this trip. But the staff was wonderful and the location was THE BEST. Its a great value and I will be staying here when I bring the family back to San Fran! Also...if you want a better room...get two beds, there […] is much more space. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Great location near lots of great places to eat. The staff was helpful and the continental breakfast was small but good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room is nice and clean. We requested to stay in the back due to the noise on the street the the front desk lady were willing to work out with me. Thanks!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel seems to be newly refurbished. New decor is very nice! Staff was extremely helpful to foreigners. The hotel is very central (about 5miles) from Golden gate, and also very close to all major bus routes. Very comfortable stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"easy find in SF"
It is a nice place to land and go see some of the local area. Close to shopping and restaurants. Not a far drive to see the Marina and other attractions. We have stayed here quite a few times, most of them very nice rooms and clean. There have been a few times that the room we stayed in was more worn and tattered looking...but really overall it is a […] fair value for the money. We have not really had their complimentary breakfast, but rather chose to go to a near by restaurant called The Grove. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"We were very pleased."
The price was very reasonable. Plenty of parking spaces, several of them covered. The bed was extremely comfortable. The desk clerk was very helpful. We even had a balcony off our very large room. Due to fog, we were treated to the faint sound of foghorns until late in the evening.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Considering local prices, this place offers good value. I had a rear room upstairs and didn't notice road noise too much. However, there was a loud buzzing sound coming from electricity boards (I guess) from onsite - this did keep me awake, Friendly helpful staff. WOuld stay again and recommend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good all around"
Clean and pleasant motel and room, The staff were very nice and helpful. Take ear plugs there is some street noise. The breakfast is very basic.Genuine Expedia guest review
"GREAT for EVERYONE!!"
The staff were extremely nice and helpful in helping us plan our travel and which sites to see. We would've been completely lost without their assistants. They were friendly and willing to talk about San Francisco. We will DEFINITELY be staying at this hotel when we return to the city. The location of the hotel worked very well with us. We rode the […] Double-Decker Bus Tour the first day, then walked and bus the second and third day. All of the main tourist sites (e.g. Fisherman's Wharf, The Palace of Fine Arts, Chestnuts Street, etc.) were close by and easily accessible. There's also a Walgreen down the street which made getting essentials supplies like toothbrush and toothpaste, or medicine very convenient. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel very clean and superb location"
We really enjoyed staying here it was in a great location and the service was super!! The bathroom was new and the bed very comfortable. We will definitely return here when visiting San Francisco. We stayed in the back of the building it was very quiet and again the location was super! You reallly need a car to see the city so it was conveniently accessible […] to the sites! "Updated and clean"
The room was nicely updated, We enjoyed our stay. Parking is a bit tight but it's downtown San Francisco area and they didn't charge us so that was a plus. Public transportation is only a block away and it ran right down to the warf, union square, China town, etc. The street is quite busy but I didn't really notice the traffic noise when the door was […] closed. Breakfast was a little chaotic because the area is small and even though they don't have very many rooms, there seemed like everyone must have came down at the same time. They had a limited variety of breakfast items such as toast, english muffins, fruit and oatmeal. Overall, it was a good stay and I would come back again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
La Luna is absolutely the GEM of San Francisco. If you are travelling, or staying for a few nights... La Luna is the place. FREE PARKING!!!!!! Wonderful rooms, great bed, super desk service and perfect location. I needed a taxi and the desk representative had it there exactly on time, as promised. "great hotel for tourists and families"
This hotel was well located for San Francisco tourist attractions. Free parking was great and the parking was safe and well lighted. The room was very clearn and well appointed. The continental breakfast needs improving, but the hotel was still a great bargain and a pleasant place for families.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cozy and quiet"
Staff was helpful and unobtrusive. The room features were adequate and functional. We found it quiet, clean and restful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Simple affordable style"
Simple style. Clean. Super helpful staff. Affordable considering it's SF. Close to a lot of cool stuff. If your picky or rich you may consider more upscale accommodations, but I really like simple mid century styling so for me it was cool. Leaves some money to shop. Staff was really helpful in pointing out places to go. Enjoyed my stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good and proper stay"
If you're looking for a relatively cheap place to stay in San Francisco that, blessedly, has free parking, look no further. Don't expect anything insanely fancy - it's cheap for a reason. If all you need the hotel for is a place to shower and sleep, it's just the ticket. The hotel was undergoing reservations at the time of my visit, which is the reason […] for the low condition rating, but the staff were very polite and were adamantly apologetic about the dust and debris. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel with free parking and great location"
I wasn't sure what to expect having booked over the internet and not knowing the area very well. My husband and I and our 2 kids were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were on the small side but clean and comfortable. LOCATION WAS GREAT!! Just a short walk through a lovely upscale neighborhood takes you down to the beach with awesome views of the Golden […] Gate Bridge. A short bus ride on the 30 takes you pretty much anywhere you need to go. The only thing that was lacking was the breakfast, it was only bread and oranges but it was free so i cant complain that much. Overall it was a Great Value AND FREE PARKING!! We had a large newly refurbished room at the back on the third floor. It was very quiet at the back but would have been very noisy at the front . They are replacing the carpet in the back rooms right now. We had a room where the carpet had been replaced that day! Overall great value and a convenient position.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"La Luna Inn in San Francisco -close to the Wharf"
Hotel staff was helpful. Free breakfast was adequate with instant oatmeal, toast with butter & jelly, oranges, coffee (no decaf), tea. The hotel is within walking distance, just a few blocks to our tour bus, and places to eat - like the very good Mel's Drive-in. Street in front of our room was very busy, but NOT noisy when the door was closed to our […] room. Bed was fairly comfortable, pillows were not soft, and the hotel needs to invest in new towels. Elevator wasn't working, but staff will carry your bags if you need them to. All in all, it is a convenient hotel to see the sights of the city, staff was helpful, and we would stay there again if in town. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"" Great hotel and location""
We really lucked out ! We booked the La Luna online and could not be happier with our choice. We booked a queen room but once we got there, decided we would rather have a king room and was given just that. Our stay was for 9 days and returned each afternoon/night to a clean, fresh smelling room. The location could not have been better. Very close to […] the Muni and wonderful restaurants on Chestnut street. We rented a car for our last 2 days and the free parking was great. We hope to get back to San Francisco in the next few years and will be staying at the La Luna again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Never been to SF before didnt know what to expect. We drove around the city before heading to the hotel. You'd never know from the outside what the place looks like inside, and quality of service. 100% pleased by the service inside. Dealt with the 3 best front desk people. Gave us so much information on how to get around, bus help, just helpful etc.. […] The room was amazingly huge. Had one issue not the hotels fault but the idiot in the next room. Our rental car was due in the morning, woke up and had that idiot parked right behind my car left me too little room to maneuver. Front desk lady called the room, the idiot said they'd come down. (car was due in 30mins and had to drive across the city in the morning rush). Idiot never came down, front desk lady said she run up to the room and get the key herself. My mom got out of the car and helped me back up & maneuver which took 5mins but we got out of there. If I had more time I was going to call a tow truck. Other then that I would definitely stay here again. Located a bit far from the action but near many bus lines. Was able to get everywhere we wanted to go, SF is rather easy to figure out - thank god for that! Room price a bit high price comparable to the other hotels and had free parking, Yeah I did say free parking! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient and comfortable"
My wife and I have stayed here on two separate occasions -- we went out of our way (and spent a few extra dollars) to stay here a second time. La Luna is in a great location -- in about 5 or 10 minutes, you can walk to the Palace of Fine Arts (which is gorgeous to walk around), or straight to the marina. The hotel is also right along some major bus […] lines, and you can walk less than a block to have easy bus access to the Presidio, the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate Park, Chinatown, Ghirarrdeli Square, and all the other major attractions. Chestnut Street is just one block away for great restaurants and shopping, too. One downside to the convenience: Lombard street is a major highway and is extremely noisy, especially during rush hour in the morning. This didn't bother us much because we would usually be too exhausted to even hear the traffic, after a busy day of sightseeing and eating! A minor gripe about our second visit: for some inexplicable reason, our room had very little in the way of lighting. There was a desk lamp, and one bedside lamp. The room lacked any kind of ceiling light or floor lamp to brighten up the room, which was a bit weird. Overall, we love this hotel. The service is good, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the location is fantastic. We'll probably go back for a third stay on our next trip to San Fran. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
La Luna was in great condition considering the assumed age of the hotel. Great location, near Golden Gate Bridge, near bus route to AT&T park and Fisherman's Wharf/Pier 39. They allowed us to keep the car in their parking lot the entire next day while site-seeing, saving us $20-30. Would recommend, will stay again if back in the area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"LaLuna Inn was AWESOME!!!!"
Beds were extremely comfy!! Location was wonderful. Room view was nice, we had a small view of the Golden Gate! Staff was very freindly and helpful! The breakfast was not much of a breakfast but a light snack. "Great Hotel with Free Parking!"
My Boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel from March 13 - March 18, 2011. I was very impressed with the hotel. I saw the pictures online and was a little skeptical about what this hotel was going to be like but now that we've stayed there we will definitely come back. The hotel was pretty nice, we stayed in a King room. The bathroom is decent size, they […] only have a shower but I don't like to take bath's so it works out perfectly. This hotel is about a mile away from Golden Gate bridge and the presidio and is probably about 2 miles away from the Fishemans wharf. The only complaint i have about this hotel is the continental breakfast...It is basically toast, jelly, oatmeal, and juice. Simple but for the price of this hotel it's not that big of deal. The hotel is conveniently located a block away from a Walgreen's and a block away from Chestnut street. Chestnut street has TONZ of shops, bistros, movie theater, doughnut shops and cafe's. Definitly a good hotel! We ended up purchasing a 7 day bus/Muni pass for like $30 and it was money well spent, the car stayed at the hotel the entire time. Anyway, the pass allows you to ride (unlimited) on the cable cars, the subway, their historic trains, and the bus system (which is very very good). We took the bus #30 that runs on Chesnut and takes you to Gharadelli Square, The wharf, China Town, and Downtown. You can purchase the MUNI 7 day passes at the Fishermans Wharf by the cable car loading dock, or downtown by the cable car loading dock. "Over all a good stay"
We have stayed many times. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Motel was kept up and the room nicely decorated. The lighting needs work, the cord for the lamp between the beds didn't reach an electrical plug-in and the overall lighting was very subdued. The fan in the bathroom and the heating unit (a necessity in S.F.) ran quietly. Loved the $100 […] refundable deposit idea for anyone caught smoking in the room. The bed linens were a little worn but clean. The Continental Breakfast was toast, packaged oatmeal, juice, milk, coffee, tea and some oranges. Short walk to the city bus system and we left the car at the motel (no charge) the whole time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This was not my first choice for San Francisco but what an absolute joy this hotel was. I was travelling with 2 teenage children and the room was very spacious with 2 queen sized beds. The bathroom and shower was great and there was a fridge. The room was tastefully decorated. I would suggest you ask for a room around the back as the hotel was right […] on Lombard St and the front rooms would have been noisy. The continental breakfast was an adequate kick start to the day. The hotel was set in a neighbourhood which was just great, small Walgrens, bars, restaurants, laundromat around the corner, cinema - I could have moved there to live. The bus was just around the corner from the hotel so we just parked the car and public transported it around, very easy. The area felt extremely safe. I stayed at La Luna for a weekend. I found the location great, the room very comfortable, and the staff very pleasant and helpful.
