"As Noisy as NYC"
Do not stay in a room that faces the alley! I stayed here 3 nights and each and every night I heard people rummaging through the glass recycles in the alley, homeless people fighting, and sirens. As if that wasn't bad enough...I was woken up by the garabage truck before 6am each morning. This hotel is really cute and the live jazz music is wonderful. […] Otherwise there is no valet, no bell man, and it is on the outskirts of Union Square (not good). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very convenient"
This is an old fashioned SF Hotel, room is incredibly small with not much room other than the bed, bathroom okay but no shelf or counter to put anything down. No hair dryer, the towels were very, very rough and very small, maid service didn't come until 5:00 and elevator was broken one day so had to walk up 7 flights of stairs to get to our room. The […] location is good but the hotel from outside is very hard to find and when we called for directions person answering phone couldn't help us. Altogether okay but not great and wouldn't recommend it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

my room was stark white, VERY small, and sans any decor or comfort. The staff was not friendly. The glasses in my room were dirty when i arrived. And i was located next to a linen closet and heard slamming doors all morning.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not worth the money"
I was so disappointed in The Mystic. We were excited about a stay at a Charlie Palmer-owned hotel. Ugh. The pictures looked great online. We are not picky travelers - pretty much roll with the punches - however we paid a little more than usual expecting a nicer stay. Oh boy. Nowhere to pull over to unload your luggage out front. Signs still bear the […] name of the previous hotel The Crescent, so don't get confused. The lobby is BEAUTIFUL. The front desk guys were quick and to the point. The main staircase ended right in front of our door. Every night we were privy to every noise up and down that staircase. When we opened the door to our room, the door didn't open completely because it was blocked by something on the other side. Oh, that's the bed. That is how small the room was. No clock. There was a brick wall outside our window. No screen. There was a family of pigeons outside our window. We couldn't air out the room during a rare hot week in San Francisco because the pigeon family could walk right in. Paper thin walls - could hear people in other rooms. Jazz from the restaurant bar came right up through the floor. Terrible shower curtain. Walls were dirty and scuffed. Wall paper in the public areas of the hotel was ripped. Windows were dirty. Did someone really inspect this new hotel and decide it was ready to open? Give me a break. They should have waited to open until it was completely ready for a grand opening. Not impressed. "Decent hotel, but NOISY"
This hotel is on the edge of Chinatown, and it's only a short walk through that to North Beach, so the location is really excellent. It's also just north of Union Square and all the shopping, if you're into that sort of thing. The rooms are a little older, but we had flatscreen TVs so that was modern. No refrigerator, no ice machines, they had to bring […] you ice, which was fine (please remember to tip the guy/gal). The room we had actually used to be two rooms joined by a shared bathroom, so it was pretty huge, which was nice. More room than we really needed, but it was nice that we had a TV in each room and one person could sleep without being disturbed by the other... HOWEVER, the main problem was that we got a room right next to the elevator, and we could hear the BING! of the elevator coming to our floor, or even the two below it, ALL NIGHT LONG. And we had a white noise generator going!! We were even on the top floor, you'd think it would be a little more quiet, but no dice. If it wouldn't have been for that, it would have been a pretty good stay, overall. However, I'd rather sacrifice the location for a little more basic comfort next time. "Crescent in SF"
The hotel is one of these old places in SF where the rooms are very small and the elevator is ancient. I was OK with that, but I was not OK with the noise directly outside my room (hotel employees carrying something noisy in a stairwell) that woke me up all three days I was there between 6 and 6:30am. I got inconsistent numbers of towels from the maid […] service and my friend who stayed down the hall got no towels at all one day (as in, they came in and removed all his towels without replacing them). The continental breakfast was just OK. The location looks sketchy from the outside, although the hotel looks nice when you walk in. Also, on the positive side, the bar on the second floor is a nice place to hang out. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Won't Be Back"
Front desk reception was bland, communication was lacking as to the exact location of our room, and it felt a bit like a scavenger hunt. After three miscommunications with the receptionist, we finally found our assigned destination and stepped into a tiny but clean minimalist room with no reading lights beside the bed and a cutting-edge designed lucite […] chair that was dreadfully uncomfortable. Water pressure in the sink was almost non-existent, and so was the hot water, so we decided not to take a chance with the shower. Beside the bed were two large bottles of designer water but no information was present regarding their cost, so we didn't open them. We were awakened very early in the morning by street noise, but I suppose due to the hotel's location that the clanging from the garbage trucks dumping load after load of recyclable bottles was unavoidable. Breakfast was nice, but would have been much more enjoyable without the talking heads yammering away at top volume on the huge TV in the breakfast room. All in all, it was a very impersonal atmosphere here at the Crescent, and I would not recommend this hotel. There are much better places available in the city at comparable rates. "Pick another hotel"
Very unprofessional staff. They don't greet you when you come in and they don't say bye when you leave. The linens weren't soft and they had incredibly small cheap pillows on the bed. And don't even get me started on the only ancient and slooow elevator.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Would not stay here again"

"NOISY!!"
Was first given the room on the 3rd floor that is located directly above the bar and the pounding bass beat. After explaining that I had a job interview in the morning, they were willing to move me up a floor to the back of the building, which was quiet until my neighbors got back to their room and then I realized the walls were paper thin.. To top […] it off, at about 5 a.m. the garbage trucks showed up.. If you want to party and don't care about sleep, it's a good location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice but noisy"
Our first night was on the 4th floor, north side of the building facing an alley. Noise from the street (conversations, trash pick up, cars) made the first night almost unsleepable. The windows were very old and not remotely soundproofed. When we complained, the desk staff said "Eh, it's a noisy neighborhood..." However, they did move us to a higher […] floor on the other side of the building. Ironically, these windows were much newer and did a much better job of keeping out noise. We slept great. This would be a great little hotel if they fixed all the windows on the lower floors, but until then I can't recommend it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Don't stay in room 305"
I was booked into room 305, which was directly above the hotel bar and right at the stairwell. I could hear everything from the bar, which had music blasting every night of the week. By the third night, I asked to move and was put on the 7th floor in a room that had not yet been remodled. It was heaven compared to room 305. Also, room 305 was extremely […] small and did not have any of the amenities listed on the website (alarm clock, ipod dock, mini fridge...pillowcases). To top it off, my room wasn't even cleaned the first day of my stay. The hotel is in a good location and the complimentary breakfast was surprisingly good. From reading other reviews, I might have had a decent stay in another room. But, the staff was not very attentive and the place looks A LOT better in the photos than in person. There are probably better places to stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Only good thing was location"
The location was great, but that is it. My room was noisy, not cleaned well, the furniture was broken and dirty, and the was bed uncomfortable. It felt like I was in a very cheap remodel of an old hotel. The free breakfast was not good, nothing was left at 8:30 am and it was supposed to last until 9 am. I expected to have room at least as comfortable […] and clean as a major chain hotel but in my experience, this was far from it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Cresent Hotel - San Francisco"
The hotel is in an older renovated building two blocks from Union Square. The location is great, but the hotel leaves a lot to be desired. The rooms and facility are very clean, but the rooms are extremely small and noisy. The hotel does not have airconditioning, not always a problem in SF, but is something I would expect. The big issues are as follows: The […] hotel does not produce enough hot water to provide for hot showers. Whether in the morning or before dinner, my showers were tepid at best. When speaking to the hotel management about it, they just gave me a smart answer about the building being old. There's only one elevator in the building and it is extremely old, small and is frequently broken. Housekeeping didn't bother to remove trash or empty the trash cans in the room. They didn't vacuum the room each day, and they failed to replace the wash cloths they removed from the room on multiple occasions. End of the day, it's cheap, it's close to everything, it's pretty clean, but be prepared for cold showers and cramped rooms. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Avoid the 3rd floor!"
Imagine a busy day sightseeing and enjoying San Francisco and hoping for a good nights sleep before another activity filled day. Well, if that's what your looking for avoid the 3rd floor at the Crescent on Thursday to Saturday. They have a non sound proof club on the second floor which keeps the tunes happening in your room until 3:00 a.m. Management […] will move you but it will be to an extremely dirty room on the same third floor. Did they move us? Yes, but not until the next day and without apology and consideration for the inconvenience we tolerated two nights in a row. Will avoid the Crescent! "Crescent -- Good location, questionable hotel"
Good location. No hot water in shower, room looked out on a trash heap and a utility staircase, creepy-as-hell minimalist lighting (thought I was going to be stabbed at any point), and thin windows and walls. Next time I'll pay more and stay at a chain.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Wouldn't return"
We checked in about 3pm to find our room had not been serviced; the bed was unmade and the room very hot with no airconditioning. Windows could only be opened slightly and overhead fan took sometime to cool the room. Rubbish from the previous occupant was still in the bathroom! Breakfast very ordinary and had to continually ask staff to bring more food […] and drinks. The Hotel seemed very short staffed and struggling to cope with their guests. The lift took forever and was hot and stuffy and very small. Only saving grace was the location as very close to Union Square. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Fint i receptionen.."
