The rooms were VERY tiny. The sink was actually in the bedroom and was probably the size of my two hands, flat, side by side. It's also in the corner, so it makes it hard when you are brushing your teeth. Sounds silly, but I literally had to cock my head to the side and pretty much put my face right in it so I could, ahem, spit the toothpaste out. The […] pillows were also grossly stained. There wasn't even a fitted sheet on the mattress; they used a flat sheet and just tucked it in. This place may be fine if you are broke and passing through for ONE night, but thankfully or little getaway wasn't longer than that. The "valet" parking wasn't that great...there is a parking garage a block away, while they park your car three blocks away. The parking garage is actually cheaper (though there are no in/out privileges) The "continental breakfast" is really just tiny, store bought muffins and coffee. That is it. The walls are also THIN as paper. We had a neighbor knock on our door at 10:30pm (on a FRIDAY) and asked for us to talk quieter. My guy and I were literally just talking; we hadn't even gone out yet (IE: no drunk (loud) talking). It was awful! Read more

I was disappointed. Did not know they made hotel rooms that small. I had a sink for a nightstand. Tv was nice. So was bed. Community bathroom and shower. Slow help. I could hear dishes bring washed. Parking 33 dollars. Gotta love SF..

I enjoyed my stay very much. The Mosser Hotel has wonderful employees who helped us immensely on our trip. The hotel is cute, clean and convenient. The only problem was the noise. The noise of people partying in the alleys, and going in and out of the shared bathroom slamming doors all night made it very difficult to sleep. The front desk was nice enough […] to let us switch rooms even though it was a crowded, busy weekend. It still did not help...all night there were trucks unloading and loading god knows what right below our window. We had the bathroom down the hall option and it was perfect for what we needed for a one night stay in town to catch two Giants games. 20 minute walk to the stadium. Overall my wife and I really liked the Mosser Hotel. The location in Union Square is wonderful. Just a few steps away from BART and shopping- the location couldn't be better. The room was clean, cozy and larger than we expected. The bathroom was small- but very nice overall (tiny sink). We were in SF for New Year's 2011-12 and were in a party mood... […] We knew the hotel had a "bohemian" reputation, but we were a little unprepared for all that that involved. Neither my wife nor I are prudes- but the amount of smoke that we experienced was overwhelming. SF has a very tolerant canibis law enforcement policy- as it should- but California is a smoke-free state. Our room smelled like an Amsterdam coffes house by the end of our first night. The staff was great in helping us change rooms, and after we did that, the problem was resolved. If you are 5 feet tall, hearing impaired, and grew up in a “project” apartment, this hotel is for you. The Mosser is located on the 4th Street between Market and Mission, not a bad location if you want to walk downtown San Francisco. Forget the car, the hotel offers $33/night valet parking, which is pretty much what you can find yourself in the area. […] No free parking. The hotel room we stayed in was about 10 x 10 feet with a crammed in sleeper sofa, a sink and a closet. I am 5’10’’ tall, and my feet were hanging over the edge of the sofa. The window was facing the wall of the office building, and all night there were some loud mechanical noises like a loading garbage truck. The WC (just a toilet) and the bathroom (bath and shower) were down the hall, which is what they mean by shared bathroom. I emigrated from former Soviet Union 20 years ago. I grew up in the 60s in a community apartment, where my parents had a 16 sq yard room, and the kitchen and bathroom were shared with another 4 families. So, don’t think I am spoiled by luxury living. In my experience, this is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in any country. Read more

I didn't know enough about price ranges for adequate hotels in San Francisco. I didn't realize that some people in my hotel had rooms with a shared hallway bathroom. The room was big enough only for the bed and to walk around it. I stayed 1 night because it was late and first thing in the morning checked into a hotel 2 doors down (Palomar). Summary: […] The bed was NOT squashy or comfortable, the comforter was paper-thin and made of crappy material, the room was comically small, the window was very hard to pull open and closed, this hotel was very dumpy (you wouldn't expect it because the lobby is so nice and the location is great). in my opinion, spend some extra money and switch hotels. Love the hotel just because of the location. It is an older building so walls are paper thin and you hear doors slamming ALL the time. What was extra nice was that you can open the windows and get the fresh air in through the bathroom and the room. They give you coffee and small blueberry muffins, but make sure you come early because they run out quick. Elevator took a little long so best choice was to go down the stairs. Stayed in the room 822 which had a bathroom attached...nice and small....the free toiletries were a nice touch.....had no problem getting a room when we took the train and got in at 12 noon, really welcomed as a 6 hour train ride from bakersfield. This was my second time staying at the Mosser. The first time I had a shared bathroom this time I had a suite with private bath. As always I loved my stay. Newly renovated, modern design, small room (feels like in Europe) - this could be a disadvantage if you prefer to have big rooms. Great price, great location, very close to BART, cable car, tram, and amtrak bus station. We stayed for 2 nights, came in with amtrak. Hassle free, PERFECT! Will come back.

I was so glad to find a clean hotel in such a great location that is cheaper than most of the dive hotels in worse locations around the city. The service is mediocre but you can't beat the price and the location and the awesome design. Free coffee and muffins brings everyone to the lobby in the mornings so there's time and space to make friends and […] plans. The economy rooms are ridiculously small but the layout is smart and efficient. Nothing more than I need when I'm just looking for a place to crash. The rooms include great sample name-brand amenities, including a razor and sample novel and cologne. The shared bathroom thing is similar to that of a hostel, unless you pay a little extra for your own bathroom. It's full of character and charming as hell. Best deal in town. I never plan on staying anywhere else...ever! I'm so grateful that options like this exist for the young and fabulously broke couples and singles looking to get their exploration on.
