Hotel Majestic

I guess for some old is charming but for me the Majestic was old and dusty and anything but charming. The restaraunt was not open in the mornings so I had to walk 3 blocks to the nearest Starbucks and then climb some major hills to get back. There was little around the hotel in the way of other restaraunts. If I am ever in San Francisco again I will […] not stay there. The hotel was elected by others in my company and I did not read any reviews prior to arrival. Though the vintage decor was a nice theme, the furniture shouldnt of been so run down looking, fireplace should have been operable, water pressure was extremely low and room was very small to be listed as a "Jr. Suite" But what was extremely unacceptable was the used razor and toiletries left in the shower from previous guests.

I booked my hotel 3 months prior to make sure I was handled. I asked for 2 rooms with 2 Queen beds.. I called a week before to confirm and when I got there, they said both rms had one bed. They said that that's all they had. Then they said well we can give one room with 2 twin beds and you can get a roll out bed for $20 xtra a night, when they are the […] ones that messed up... I said forget it Ill go somewhere else. They then said they wouldnt charge for the bed, so I got 2 rms for 3 nights, only one with the 2 beds not the other... Then they said here is a 10% off the cafe for breakfast and dinner only we are closed at lunch..We went down there and 2 out of 3 days they were completly closed... We walked in and out of the place and never did the say Hi or anything.. They were SO RUDE!!! every time that I did walk by and if someone was at the desk checking in or out, the customer was upset..They sucked!!! Read more

The room was on the 2nd floor overlooking the sidewalk and there was car traffic all night as well as passersby who spoke loudly on their cell phones. Most disturbingly, the shower had a huge clump of long black hair that someone apparently threw onto the shower wall where it dried up and stuck to the wall. The shabby room and bathroom were disappointing […] but something I could have put up with for 2 nights but the noise level and the disgusting shower made me leave after the the first night. (I had requested a room change but was advised by the front desk that the entire hotel was booked through the week and that they would not move me to another room). This hotel was not good. From the minutes we walked in, I knew this was a mistake. The furniture in the lobby was old and ran down. The elevator was old and slow. Not to mention the room which was very small. Don't waste your time, go to another hotel.

Stains on our bed cover and the floor, NO Air-conditioning, no screens on the windows, the closet shook everywhere you walked. It smelled old. We literally booked another hotel within 5 minutes and left.

The location of this hotel was great for what I needed, but other than that this was one of my worst experiences in terms of hotel room comfort that I have had in many years. Period hotel in a lovely neighborhood which is also close to most tourist destinations. Wonderful collection of butterflies and great ambiance. Dining room is closed Monday and Tuesday but within a few blocks of restaurants, cable cars Union Square and China Town.

I am writing this feedback review to remind other travellers to avoid the bad experiences I had in this hotel. I stayed here for only one night during my 7 days holidays in S.F during August 2011. my first 3 nights I stayed at Hilton hotel at Union square and I move this hotel for a night then I moved to TravelLodge at Lombard street (around Fisherman […] Whalf). overall service and cleaness are very poor at this hotel.The room are so old with funny smell. toilet and bathroom are dirty. OMG! i can't believe this is called a hotel. Hotel staffs are not much helpful and not polite and not professional. I could hear funny foot steps and noices of people walking upstairs. I booked this hotel for a night becasue of some good review (I doubt they all are faked review) and it said hotel location is close to Japan town. I feel there is all wrong about this hotel. I dont understand why this hotel was rated as 3 stars and TravelLodge at Lombard street was rated only 2 star in Expedia. Anyway I pre-planned to stayed here for just one night and I was glad my suffering was only for one night. rather well worn , in need of total renovation. wood in entrance porch rotting -not a very good welcome . had two rooms , with friends, in both the wardrobe doors didn't shut - we found a dirty pair of socks in the drawer our friends found several pairs of dirty knickers in their room . Neither of the rooms had been properly cleaned . we were offerred […] a round of drinks free as compensation & also manged to get our valet parking for free . Although we were told there were no altermative rooms available our friends were moved the next day "because of problems withy their sink" they were unaware of any problem . We weren't moved & when we asked the front desk we were basically told if we didn't like it we could leave -with no refund for the two nights outstanding on our stay. Basically very rude , on several occasions walking away to "work" during our conversations although we saw no evidence of him doing any work. Would not recommend to my worst enemy !! Read more
