The San Francisco Marriott Marquis stands south of Market Street opposite the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and the Metreon Center in San Francisco, Calif. Powell Street transportation via the BART light-rail system or via cable car is located within one block of the hotel. The Moscone Convention Center, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and Union Square shopping are positioned within a quarter-mile.

4th Street Bar & Grill - This bar and grill features the sports event of the day on multiple LCD HDTVs throughout the restaurant. It offers sandwiches, burgers, and other light fare, and has 22 beers on tap. Open for dinner daily and lunch on weekends only.
The View - Located on the 39th floor of the hotel, this lounge features views of the San Francisco skyline through dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows. Open from late afternoon to late evening daily.
Starbucks - Located in the lobby. Open from early morning to late evening. Serves breakfast and lunch.
Bin 55 - Featuring a variety of California wines. Located on the lobby level.

Guests of the San Francisco Marriott Marquis have complimentary access to the fourth-floor health club with an indoor pool, along with an outdoor sun patio. The large fitness center offers cardio equipment and free weights. Women's and men's locker rooms with separate steam rooms are accessible for a surcharge.
Across the street, the Rooftop at Yerba Buena Gardens includes an ice-skating rink, a bowling alley, a small playground, and a carousel. One mile away, the Embarcadero offers a bayside promenade popular for walking, biking, jogging, and in-line skating. A seasonal ice-skating rink is located at the Embarcadero Center. Kayaking and rock climbing facilities are within three miles.

The location is really convenient (5 minutes walking distance to union square). Hotel is famous for its sky lounge and overall quality is 4+ out of 5 BUT parking is always expensive as it is in SF downtown and WiFi is charged in the room. "Nice Hotel-pretty close to AT&T Park"
It was nice and the people are friendly. The two things I would say would be my only complaints are the price of parking when your a guest at the hotel and paying good money to stay and our TV was broken in the room and they couldnt fix it. "For a short stay in the Bay Area"
The Marriott Marquis is an elegant, modern, very busy hotel in the very center of San Francisco. The rooms are very comfortable, the staff is excellent overall. We were shocked to learn that a daily connection to the internet is not free in the rooms, as most hotels, big or small, do nowadays. We enjoyed everything about our stay except for the daily parking fee to keep our car in the hotel garage. This fee was not mentioned on the hotel website and should be as it added an additobnal $200 to our over-all stay. "A Business travelers hotel; not a tourist hotel"
A large anonymous hotel whose apparent focus is business travelers. I have stayed here many times as a business traveler and always liked it. This was the first trip where I stayed on a purely personal basis. I felt less valued on this trip as a non-business customer. The standard scrambled eggs, bread and fruit breakfast buffet was a total ripoff at […] $29 per person and we paid almost $70 for two people for breakfast! Skip the Mariott and head across the street to Mel's Diner for breakfast. The room was strange - it felt as if they had an extra space and moved a bed and tv into it at the last minute. Our Stay was awesome. The location was excellent for us. I cant say enough about the staff. Always pleasant and always very helpful. The only thing that prevented me from giving the hotel a 5 star was the fact that there wasn't any Internet in the room without a charge. There was Internet in the lobby but extremely slow. And the charge for it in your […] room to me was too pricey. When shopping for a hotel, we were looking for a continental breakfast and Internet. I am not sure if Expedia had it wrong or if the hotel had it wrong or just very misleading. Either way we couldn't find the continental breakfast and wound up using our own data plan for internet.When we did have breakfast in the hotel, It wound up costing us over $60. for the two of us. We should have gone across the street to Denny's ... would have been a lot cheaper. If you don't mind spending money then this is the hotel for you. "Great Location Near Powell BART STATION!"
The MARRIOTT MARQUIS HOTEL on 4th Street is conveniently located near the Powell BART/MUNI stations, so you can just take the BART from either Airport (Oakland or San Francisco). The room was very clean and the beds were super comfortable. Hotel staff was very pleasant and helpful, and even though the check-in time is listed as 4pm, we arrived at about […] 2:45pm and were just going to ask them to hold our luggage, but they let us check-in at that time. Another thing that was good was the roll away bed: It's pretty large and we needed it for a friend who was just staying for two nights. The reason it only gets 4-stars is the refrigerator in the room is already stocked with SUPER EXPENSIVE drinks like water and soda, so you can't use it for your own stuff. If you move a drink it automatically charges to the room Another draw back is that you get charged if you want to use wi-fi or wired internet in your room. Even though the guest (free) wifi shows up on the list of options on my iPhone and Tablet in the room, we were on the 8th floor, I couldn't connect. My friend says it works in the lobby. Ice is free and the room comes with coffee maker and free coffee. There's also an ironing board, iron, shampoo & conditioner, face and body soap bars, body lotion, and hair dryer. We had a great room, good view, nice & roomy, tidy and clean, and the location of the hotel is smack in the middle of downtown SF. So, what's not to like? The only reason I rate this hotel overall as 4, not 5, is the noisy lobby and bar: the hotel is way too big for it's own good (25 floors?): the hotel lobby resembled a noisy bus terminal at most times […] - millions of people milling in and out, crowding the lobby with traffic jams created by luggage carts that make navigating in and out of the hotel an utterly unpleasent mess. The hotel bar is right in the middle of all this, so don't expect any quiet down time, you won't find it there. Better leave and head across the streat to a quiet local bar.
