This California boutique hotel occupies a 1906 building located two blocks from Union Square and one half-mile from the Moscone Convention Center. The Powell Street Cable Car Line runs one block from the hotel. ACT and Curran theaters are two blocks away. Three blocks away, a local TIX booth sells half-price day-of-performance tickets to theatrical performances.

There's a bar across the street of the hotel, close at 2 a.m. Before 2 it was super noisy, around 2 to 3 it's like an endless party, all the people out from the bar yelling and drinking at the street. We had a great stay at the Hotel Abri. It is in a convenient location, the rooms were nice and fairly well updated. I was in S.F. for a conference and Hotel Abri was 1-2 blocks away. There were several great diners/restaurants in the area. One of the plugs didn't work, but maintenance was quick to repair it. The service was great in general. There was […] also a club across the street from our room and it was incredibly loud during the night. This isn't the hotels fault, but something to consider if you want to sleep well. The best part of staying here is its proximity to public transportation; SHORT walking distance to the F Line, Cable Cars, and BART; and its close to alot of shopping and restaurants. The rooms are quite small and not designed well (i.e. the tv is not located in front of the bed, the closet doors and bathroom door open keep the other one from opening). It's a great hotel for the location. Clean but overall service of the staff was great! We stayed in a suite and i was surprised by the amount of space. "Adequate hotel"
This is an older hotel with some modernization but our bedroom had exposed wiring along the doorframe. We were upgraded to a 'suite' due to Expedia VIP status but were a bit disappointed. There was a bedroom and a separate sitting room, but this was not the quality of other upgrades received with this program. Both rooms' view looked out to the very […] large, very old ventilation system and concrete, quite unsightly so we never opened the drapes for a view. The configuration of the bedroom was quite odd, a closet jutting out of the room took a quite a bit of floor space and the TV was placed in another odd cut out. The bathroom did not have a tub, and though narrow, was ok, except for the roach encountered in the morning. The staff was hit or miss. We had a great recommendation from one front desk employee for a brunch location that was great (Farmer Brown)! However, as suggested, we called the front desk 10 minutes before we wanted to check out and still had to wait in the lobby another 20 minutes for the valet to bring our car. This was on a Sunday and they were not busy, apparently understaffed? Overall, this hotel was ok, good location, but not to the level that I would have expected per the Expedia rating. When we arrived at the hotel we were given the option of a larger, noisier room on the street side or a smaller room looking opposite Ellis St. We picked the large, noisy one and boy was it tiny! The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The valet service was well worth the $40 a night and super convenient. My rental would be outside waiting for me when I arrived at the lobby and I didn't have to worry about parking tickets or it being towed. Got the suite on the top floor, the 5th floor. I really enjoyed my stay at the Abri. I stayed overnight at the Omni the night before and wasnt impressed at all with their small overpriced rooms. I had a room at the Abri with the bedroom and small living room so it was very roomy and more of an apt. I got it at a great price as well. It is very difficult to see, we followed our GPS and it took us right by, however it took 3 times to drive by to find it. The orange sign, which is not above the lobby door, just blends in and the door is marked lightly. The picture on Expedia is misleading. The building is shown diagonally so it appears that it is off a diagonal road, this is not true. […] The restaurant, which is very good is on the corner and the hotel lobby is towards the middle of the block. If you see the Subway (sandwich store) and Coldstone Ice Cream shop, it is directly next to the Subway store. The front desk help are very friendly and willing to help out. We had been sent an email stating we would qualify for a free upgraded room, which we did not get. And the room we were in was quiet as far as other guests however at night we could hear the homeless people rummaging through the garbage dumpsters below our room. There are a LOT of homeless, hungry people around, most do not ask for handouts as they just go about their own business. We've stayed here twice -- once when we were attending a play at ACT, and recently, when I had an early appointment, and didn't want to have to leave my house in Sacramento at 5 a.m. to get there in time.
