I stayed there 4/2013 and was woken up at midnight by my neighbors coming back to the hotel Drunk. Which normally wouldn't be a problem except the walls were paper thin. I could even hear the guy snore. My children got to learn the F word. So educational! The management didn't care to solve the issue of us losing 3 hours sleep due to the drunk guys. "for the money keep shopping"
the good - located in a decent neighborhood and close to good public transportation routes. room was even fairly quiet. the bad - old and a little run down. poor guality tv and bed. we had Electrical problems in our room and the diverter in our tub would not transfer the water to the shower head ( i need my shower) . i know San Francisco is expensive […] but this place was too expensive!!! they advertised a free continental breakfast; however good luck, the waffle iron is manned by a employee who does not speak any english and I considered myself lucky to get 1/4 of a waffle aftger 20-30 mins.I would rat this place much higher if the staff( who were nice ) could communicate with english speaking travelers. @ least the front desk people. it is also hard to pay to have to pay additional money to park in the motels own parking lot right in front of your room. "Overall stay"
I stay 2 nights. 1st night was ok 1 of the attendants was very friendly and the other was training and he look very annoying with us asking questions. The next day housekeeing never came to the room to clean and we were out all day, we notice when we got back. "Hidden fees are disappointing!"
I booked the hotel through Expedia. And in their description the roll-away bed is free. But on the day I checked-in, I still have to pay for it because it was not free. And parking is not free too. My carelessness may be partially to blame for not checking all the stuffs that I have to pay for. I guess those fees are just not visible enough for online […] users. "There was a mouse in our room!"
Within one hour of getting to our room we found a mouse! There were even droppings of the mouse in the bed. Of course they moved us to another room and were very apologetic about it. We had decided to stay for 3 nights therefore we were charged for three nights of parking. The owners have been here for 12 years and they have never had an issue like this. You will be happy to know that we have taken care of the problem. We have not seen one in 2 months which is an excellent sign! Again, I am very sorry that this happened and I wish there was an explanation I could give you. Should you return to San Francisco in the future, it is our hope that you will come stay with us again!

Nice hotel close to tour bus pickup and Fisherman's Wharf. Since you're not in SF to sit around in your room this place is perfect. The free parking is the greatest part of the deal. "Untrue statements in description of hotel location"
Travelodge By The Bay is located within one mile of San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf. This is not a true statement. It's 15 minutes via "a bus" and/or one hour walk. "You get less than you pay for..."
Your first impression as you find this needle in the haystack motel is that you've hit skid row. It is seedy-looking and run-down. The staff is nice, but when we asked for an additional pillow we were told to walk down to the linen room to get it. Our room was in the second wing and had a little patio. It was nice and big (handicapped room), but if […] we were in a wheelchair, there's no way we could have taken a bath- no hand bars, and no way into the toilet room. The room was clean and near transportation (around the block), but don't expect any views like are shown here of either Lombard street (the hotel is located on Lombard street--but it is cut off and continues on the hotel end), or the Golden Gate (absolutely no way to see that from there). The view is of the house next door. Breakfast is your choice of oatmeal with hot water (no microwave to cook it in), two other cereals, apples, and Svenhard's rolls, coffee and tea. There were what looked like blood stains on one of our towels. No pay TV as advertised. It was clean, in a "at least it's clean" sort of way. The front desk guy couldn't take the time to show up what bus routes to take to the pier. Told us to walk instead. Would never stay there again. Not even just overnight. The description of our property just doesn’t correspond with the actual surrounding area or the quality of our rooms. There are 3 Travelodges on Lombard Street (our location being the most preferred) and this mistake has been made before. Our property fronts the Marina District which is a high end neighborhood in San Francisco. We have daily houseperson service from 7AM to 11PM to attend to all guest needs. Our “handicap room” is completely ADA accessible with roll-in showers. We offer Showtimes along with a variety of sports and other channels. Although we love to get reviews both positive and negative, we truly believe that this review is intended for another property. At your convenience, please feel free to call the property and we will check our records to see if you actually stayed with us or another Travelodge.

"Not great."
HUGE rooms but the tiniest bathrroms ever... I got 2 rooms through hotels.com at the same time under my name but our rooms were on totally different floors. My parents room looked out onto a patio of a resteraunt. We were sooo confused because they couldve crawled out their window and eaten dinner there. It was pretty noisy, we could hear cars all night […] and the people in the hotel across the street having a party. The walk wasnt too far for two 21 year olds but the parents had trouble walking there and almost had to get a taxi back. After looking around the area - it was near the Wharf - I'd probably try a different hotel next time. Our room was dated and musty smelling. The bathroom was quite small. The bed was uncomfortable. The bedding was low grade. The fridge wasn't cold at all. The WiFi was slow.
