Nice hotel in a great part of town. Big bathroom, small sink for shaving. No high def channels on a flat screen TV is a pet peeve of mine, including no ESPN which is totally weird.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"It was fine"
Nothing spectacular about this hotel. Clean room but very basic. The cable TV was pretty bad. Lines on the screen?!?!? That very 80's. No excuse for poor television in the 21st century. Not in any hurry to go back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Hotel Diva Hi Jeffrey, I'm so sorry to hear you had issues with your television. Thank you for the information via Expedia reviews. Please be assured that I will look into our cable/tv services to ensure the issue is correctly promptly. I hope you will give HOtel Diva another chance on your next trip to San Francisco. "Customer Service Training Needed"
The hotel itself was not bad, though the windows opened completely and had no screens and the rooms were very small, it could have been a pleasant stay, as the weather was perfect. The hotels staff left a lot to be desired and made the entire stay horrible. Very rude and pretentious individuals. They didn't even acknowledge my or any other guests presence […] that I observed. "Good Overnight Stay - business"
Room was clean and comfortable. Small but neat and compact. Overall feel was good and wireless worked perfectly. Front desk super helpful as was doorman in securing cab. Would stay again. Only drawback was "designed" blinds. However there was a light blocking blind on top of the designed blind so all worked out. Overall, very positive experience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"very noisy and dark rooms"
Had a hard time sleeping because I could hear every footstep above me and everything happening in the halls and my neighbor's room. Although the bed was super comfortable, the room had downfalls like the smallest bathroom ever known to man, and no overhead light so every lamp including both by the bed had to be turned on for normal lighting.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Quaint and very nice service"
Nice rooms, but a bit small and the elevators seemed a bit outdated and moved a bit slow that the other passengers and I exchanged a weird awkward glance. The hotel service desk was very nice and were more than accommodating with making sure i had the wireless password information which definitely goes a long way with being there for business reasons. […] The shower head also didn't really move or have adjustable settings which is a small thing but a convenience i like to see Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good location, average hotel"
The location of Hotel Diva is great, being right near union square and public transportation. The hotel itself is fine, but nothing to write home about. The room was small and had a strange layout (bathroom and sink were separated). Its an old renovated building, so that heat was one of those old heaters that basically had a "high" and a "low" setting […] - it too me all week to figure out how to set it so I wasn't sweating for freezing at night. The hotel was stylish, but I wouldn't rank it up with other boutique hotels in the area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Hotel Diva Dear LA Traveller, Thank you for sharing your comments with Hotels.com. I'm so sorry to hear you had a bit of trouble figuring out the heater in your room. One of the changes we are looking to accomplish this year is to finish updating our HVAC units. We have started doing this last year and have completed fifty percent of the project. We are now just waiting on the rest of the units to arrive. Hotel Diva has studio rooms which are comparatively much bigger than deluxe rooms. You can find this room type on Hotels.com as well. Depending on the room type, we have sinks both inside and outside the bathroom. I hope you will consider staying with us again on your next visit to San Francisco. We would love to have you back. "so-so. it will do for one night."
Overall I got a good price so I am ok with the experience. Her are my experiences: nobody came out to my car when I pulled in front of the hotel. it was not clear at all if there was valet or not. nobody was at the main door either, both my hands were full, so it would have been nice to get some help. The lobby is tiny, which is fine I know it's an […] old building... the check in counter was very poorly designed - no place to place a wallet or phone, and the counter is super high... the finishes in the common areas look like they are ready to be replaced. the paint inside my room was filthy next to the sink and the bathroom door paint was chipped in many places. (even if there is no money for a renovation, touch up paint is very affordable...) I would put a cleanable surface next to any wet location - like the walls around the sink. the building has very few windows that look outside, most look inside a dark light well - just a heads up. the general lighting in the room was very dim, but task lights were good. the linen was clean and the bed was comfy, so I just stayed in the room to sleep. and that's ok since the hotel is very close to the heart of downtown. "Pretentious but with very limited amenities"
Interesting design of the hotel itnerior turns to be embodied using very cheap materials and IKEA-like furniture. Very inconvenient design of the room: exiting the bathroom, you need to cross the whole room and then turn around the corner to find the sink. The hotel smells like a two-star motel, once I even smelled urine in the elevator. On the top […] of this, a terrible noise every night as around 2 am bums rummage the garbage on the backyard of the hotel, crashing glass and turning upside down garbage cans. Does not deserve even a half of the money I paid for the room. Although, the staff was polite and friendly. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"3 Stars at Best"
I'm not sure what is going on here with the ratings, but this hotel is 3 stars at best, if not 2 or 2.5. Every time I was at the front desk, someone was complaining about something that happened to them. Including me letting them know that I got a call at 5am to tell me my car had arrived yet I had never called for one. I WAS sound asleep and planning […] on staying that way for another two hours at least. What else... oh, they have these great little "brainstorm/working" rooms on some of the floors that conveniently double as places for homeless people to take naps or sleep through the night. Overall, this place isn't terrible, but I will never stay here again if I have other options. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Hotel Diva Hello P., I'm so sorry to hear there were some hicups during your recent with us. Please accept my sincere apology. The Hotel Diva has lounges located on different floors available for our guests to use. These lounges are secured at all times and only guest keys are able to access these lounges. I'm guessing probably the person you mentioned on your comment sleeping in the lounge was a guest that was locked out of a room? When a room door is double locked from the inside, the key card will not open the door. I hope you will give Hotel Diva another chance. Please let us change your impression on us. I know we could do better. Best regards, Virgil Lopez Hotel Manager

"Loved the details-check out the window shade"
It was interesting entering my room and seeing the window shade! Then I started noticing all the other details of the room and was facinated. The view was of the building behind the hotel, but I didn't mind as I was there for business, and figured that it would be quieter than facing the street. The bed was comfy and the room was clean. I wasn't super […] impressed with the front desk staff, but all were friendly enough, they just seemed a little too involved in their conversations with each other, and weren't very good at acknowleging guests when not engaged with other guests or on the phone, but nothing rude. The location was super convenient for my needs, and it seemed a really great central spot for tourists. There are a lot of yummy places to eat just steps away (try Honey, Honey Crepery and Lefty O'Douls), and I noticed a bike shop on Mason-too bad that I didn't have the time to rent a bike on this trip! One night-or early morning-other guests were loud when going back to their room and I was surprised at how well I could hear them, and sometimes I could hear rowdy people outside, but for the most part, I had a quiet stay. "Trendy, Clean, Convenient Location"
I really liked the Hotel Diva. The rooms are modern and clean, the front desk staff was very kind and helpful. My one complaint, and it's a big one from me, is that there is no ESPN in the cable channels. Seriously? If you have cable who doesn't have ESPN? For me that was a problem, but the rest of the hotel and the stay was very nice. No ESPN is the […] only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars overall. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Stay away from rooms at lower floors facing street"
Clift was sold out and I chose to stay across the street at Diva. I knew that the Diva is not the Clift. And everything was according to expectations. Except for the outside noise when you are at a lower floor (5) facing Geary. Even though I have been home for a couple of days I still wake up to the chant of the strikers in front of the Hotel Frank […] a block away, but their voices carried well with their megaphones. They have been there for months, chances are they are still there by the time you read this. Also the outside noise around closing time is considerable. The best was a guy pressure washing the side walks at 3am. So unless you are one of the guys singing on the way out of bar at closing time and consequently drunk enough to sleep through anything, stay away from low floors facing Geary . This is not only true for the Diva, just a general advice for that section of Union Square. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice hotel, small bathroom"
We had a two night stay, and it was just fine. The room was spacious, but the bathroom was TINY! Also, the "suite" had a murphy bed, which was marginally comfortable. The rooms were not very sound proof, and we were kept up by a bachelorette party on our floor. Overall, I chalk it up to a city hotel room, and not the fault of the hotel. We had a fine […] stay, but will not likely be back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not bad..Yet not Good"
Just around the corner from the upscale neighbor hood ...just around the corner from the hood minus the neighbor..The room looked shiek ...but it was freezing and the 2ft long radiator heater didn't cut it.. Valet was nearly half of the the hotel rate but they did have a complimentary MAC computer in the room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel Diva in San Fran - great location & staff"
I just finished my first stay at the Hotel Diva in San Francisco. It is within a block of Union Square, within walking distance of loads of great restaurants and centrally located for business. The staff of the hotel are GREAT. They are curteous, knowledgable about the area and made me feel welcome starting on day one. They remembered my name by day […] 2 and I felt welcome and appreciated. The rooms are small and the bathrooms are tiny. They are in very good condition and well decorated. The lack of any counter space on the pedestal sink is very inconvenient and the small shelf above the toilet does not give much area to put toiletries. The beds are very comfortable. If you are a light sleeper don't stay in the rooms facing the street as there is quite a bit of street noise. The front desk has complimentary ear plugs though and they did offer to move me to a room away from the street as soon as I mentioned the noise. There is a Starbucks (a real one) on one side attached through the lobby and a GREAT Interior Style Mexican restaurant on the other. Food is VERY good and so are the margaritas. I will definitely stay again as the staff and proximity to everything make up for the small rooms and tiny bathroom. Consider booking one of the bigger rooms if this is a big concern for you. "Hotel Diva - nice spot, didn't quite hit the spot"
Here's the thing. I think this place is perfect for the weekend traveler just in to see the sights. But if you're a business traveler, the place has its shortcomings. The desk chair was one of the most uncomfortable desk chairs I've ever sat in. There was insufficient storage space and way too few hangers in the closet. The vanity bathroom sink was […] deep but there was no shelving to store toiletries. The lighting over the sink was awful, I had to re-direct lighting from other parts of the room to feel like I wasn't shaving in the dark. Starbuck's right next door very convenient. A car service to the airport for the price of a cab, very nice. The shower was made for a very short person. I'm below average height and had to duck my head down to shampoo and rinse. The cable was basic at best. Again, better options in the immediate area. The concierge said the hotel was in transition to a new cable provider, so this might have been temporary blip. If you're just using the room as a bed, this place is great. If you're looking to spend any time in the room, there are more spacious, more functional options in the immediate area. "A bit on the dark side"
The hotel is in an older building. Many windows go into dark alleys or onto fire escapes. Together with the (supposedly fancy, I guess) dark gray/silver color scheme the hotel is pretty dark. My small room looked more like a cave than a room. The fishnet stocking theme is questionable, but didn't bother me too much, though it gets old staring at a pair […] of female legs in every window. The room was small, but had everything needed, the bed was firm and I slept well. Since my window went out into the back alley noise was not an issue either Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
