Kensington Park Hotel

This was our fourth stay at the Kensington. We have enjoyed each stay, from the ideal location to the sherry at 4pm each night plus the fresh coffee each morning.There is no air conditioning but rooms have ceiling fans and the windows in the rooms open. Staff is great! Will definitely be back.

I can't speak highly enough about the staff. They made the hotel. The rooms were plenty roomy enough and very clean. Staff made up the room nicely daily. Their business center is awesome, so be sure to visit it. Location was perfect for a lot of walk to locations and public transportation near by. Uber was easy to get a car quickly as well.

We loved our stay at the Kensington Park. It's a smaller hotel with an elegant lobby in Victorian decor. Located only 50 yards (46m) from Union Square, the hotel is well placed to begin any city tour. Many bus tours have a stop at the Square. Restaurants abound in the immediate vicinity. With the other options available in the area at comparable pricing, I'll look elsewhere next time. Location is very good for shopping and dining, but the staff was more interested in chatting amongst themselves than assisting guests.

My daughters and I stayed in a Dbl Deluxe corner room. We loved it. We could see the square from our window (1 of 2). The customer service was terrific. If you like small boutique hotels with charm , you will love this.

Very close to Union Square and across from the luxurious Westin St Francis Hotel. Great shopping area and handy to all kinds of transportation. The restaurant in the hotel, the Farfallon, is an upscale eatery with a very unique decor. Plus there is a theater in the building on the 2nd floor for live theater productions. We stayed at the Kensington Park Hotel in July, 2011. We found the staff eager to help, the room clean and comfortable, and the lobby charming and welcoming. The afternoon tea and sherry in the lobby was a lovely way to greet exhausted travelers. Staying on the sixth floor on the street side, we had no problem with street noise. I took two 15 year old girls with me on this trip, and location and convience was everything. This hotel had it, although a small room for three it worked fine. There are affordable restrant's around the hotel just look, and a wonderful coffee house three doors down: best latte i have ever had and great breakfast. Decent restaurants nearby, though some expensive because of the location ... which was very 'safe'. Stop for valuable hop-on / hop-off tourist bus nearby, which is also useful as a cheap and simple way of getting around beond the initial oritentation exercise if you are a new visitor with a couple of days' ticket.

This was a last minute trip to see our daughter for just a couple days and the regular hotel we stay at was all booked up. I found the Kensington on Hotels.com and it had good reviews so we decided to try it out since we were planning to eat all meals with our daughter it didn't matter that the room came with no breakfast. They serve coffee and have […] Tea in the lobby with sherry in the late afternoon if you're into that. I'd prefer wine myself but it was available. The rooms are regular size but the bed was very comfortable which is the most important to us. It's very close to everything in the square and appx. 3 blocks from the bart which was perfect for us to get to the airport. I would stay here again if our travel arrangements were the same. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The only negative for me is that they do not serve breakfast if I had to pick one. Read more

Small, friendly hotel half a block off Union Square. Beautiful old lobby, nice (but small) rooms, gorgeous creaky old elevators, mysterious restaurant side doors and secret club rooms. It was great for a weekend in SF running around, especially if you plan to eat or shop in Union Square.

Vincent, Gloria, Lily, Thai and other staff members bent over backwards to greet us every time we were in the lobby!! Beds were comfortable, linen immaculate, nice furnishings/carpet, quiet floor, and color scheme of room, hallway and lobby were fabulous. This was our second time taking our daughters to S.F., and we wanted them to try and see it as it once was. The hotel did a fabulous job of being modern, but at the same time staying with the era it was built in. The elevators were beautiful. The girls loved running up the 12 flights of stairs. I loved it too, because they slept like babies.

But really the best feature is probably its location, as it was easy for us to go anywhere in San Francisco, via cable cars, busses, even BART. In keeping with the standard of hotels in that area, breakfast is not served (except by room service) but you can make coffee and tea in the room, and just a few doors down, in the direction of Union Square, is a Borders bookstore with a café and breakfast pastries! Only a few steps away from Union Square so great location. We had no problems at all with the hotel, the room was a good size, the staff very helpful, WiFi worked well. The cheap cafe two doors down does a really good breakfast. Car parking is a bit pricy, but very convenient. My advice is not to drive in SF unless yo really have too.

You'll enjoy live music at the lobby on Wedensday. Note that, however, there is one caveat to the size of room. Our family stayed at this hotel for a night at the tail end of our vacation. It is not a family oriented hotel. Far from the sights my kids were interested in, no place to leave the car (the valet told us when he brought the car up, it could only sit on the street less than 10 minutes), and older all the way through. Great hotel overall. Rooms weren't huge but they weren't too small either and worked fine for us considering we had 2 kids. Hotel is old but cute and maintained and clean. The people were nice, no real complaints at all about anything. The location was awesome. We were seconds from Union Square and close to anything you could want - shopping, restaurants, […] convenience store, street cars, anything and that was why we stayed there - for the price it really is a good choice hotel. We stayed there in May and slept with the window open which was comfortable but we didn't see any AC so you may want to check into that before booking for the summer. Bom hotel, em um bonito prédio clássico e com localização excelente. Detalhe: chá e cherry no lobby às cinco horas (às vezes com música ao vivo). Entretanto, ficamos em um quarto pequeno para um double bed, e que tinha pouca pressão de água quente do chuveiro. Não chegou a comprometer, mas, para o nível do hotel, deveria ser melhor.
