Flagship stores ring Union Square, among the vanguard of West Coast retail. Chinatown begins at Grant Avenue and Bush Street, while Gold Rush-era mansions crown Nob Hill. South of Union Square, the convention center area includes the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Cable cars turn around at Powell and Market streets to head back to Fisherman's Wharf.

"Mistake staying here"
We travel to SF frequently, and have stayed in other hotels in Union Square, the area we enjoy best for shopping and dining. This hotel is centrally located, so we gave it a shot. We had an incredibly tiny room, although it was clean and tidy. Bathroom has the smallest counter I have ever seen (barely room for a makeup bag.. Anything else would have […] fallen into the toilet) and the door was just a sliding piece of frosted plastic that got stuck in the runner providing no privacy. There was an empty fridge in the room, but no minibar or bottled water. After a busy day and dining out, we came back to the hotel about 10:15. We wandered the halls trying to find water, a vending machine with soft drinks, anything as the gift shop was closed. Finally called front desk for info and they said the only water available was $14.50 a bottle. We settled for tap water. The next day our flight out was late in the day, we were able to stow bags. We returned later and hotel had hundreds of people filling the lobby. We could barely maneuver to pick up luggage. We wanted to make a stop in the ladies room before leaving and the ONLY restroom on lobby level was closed for maintenance. It was 6PM and again, hundreds of people congregating on that floor with no facilities. I understand this hotel caters to the business traveler, but I think it falls short with so many other choices available in the same area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Great clean hotel. Only draw back is pricey parking but then again parking is expensive everywhere in Frisco.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel, but close to Tenderloin"
I liked this hotel very much. I'm always pleased when I get a good room in San Francisco. We had a northern view on the 17th floor. The room was clean, comfortable, and well equipped with good toiletries, a coffee maker, a safe, etc. The bed was very comfortable. Firm. The large hotel lobby was always bustling with guests, and seemed to a place people […] enjoyed lounging in. A computer area with plugs and wifi was available and there was a Starbucks IN THE LOBBY. I found the hotel very convenient for my needs. I had a nearby seminar. It is also a good location for access to all transportation and Union Square Shopping. My only warning to potential guests new to SF, is that if you take one step to the West, you're in the Tenderloin. That area can be dangerous, or at the very least, annoying. You WILL have crack heads get in your face. We walked to dinner from the hotel to Japan town but we did it by walking up to Sutter and across. We still encountered people who made us a bit uncomfortable. But don't let the location keep you from staying here, just be careful. I'd stay here again, Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice but not so nice"
The Hilton near Union Square is rated a four star hotel - generally true, with some glaring exceptions. The lobby is the biggest turn off - it looks worse than the lounge area of a third world airport, and fells dirty. The room I was in (a junior suite) was large and adequately appointed - it was very very dark. It's window looked out over an interior […] courtyard and the lighting in the room was dark even with all the lights on (they must be using dim bulbs). The hotel's Urban Tavern served me the driest (more arid than the Atacama Desert in Chile) BLT ever. Won't be going there again. Cleaning staff was very friendly and polite. "great updated rooms"
I enjoyed my stay at the Union Square location. My room was in a remodeled part of the hotel and it was very nice. Unfortunately, my room was near the elevator, which was a little bit noisy, but not bad. I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Probably would not stay here again."
Valet service was terrible. After a long drive we sat in the car for 15 minutes waiting for a hotel valet to park our car. He was also rude when we asked for help with our luggage so we just wheeled it up ourselves. Very upsetting to start out a birthday trip.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"The parking sucked. The attendant should have told"
Terrible check in process. The parking sucked. The attendant should have told me to get out and have the bags taken up to the room and pay the extra 5 dollars because the self park was 48 dollars. It was the most expensive parking I have ever paid in all my world travels. The room tax parking tax was horrible. What a rip offGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenience"
wonderful room--clean well kept and great location. will return!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Although the staff was accomodating, we were disappointed with the spa disappearing and needing to ask for a refrigerator. The radio was broken and the price was much higher than in the past. Parking prices are OUTRAGEOUS.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The check in line was 25 min. Check in itself was effective and done in two minutes. The bed in the junior suite was comfortable. However as in other places in SFO the waterpressure in the shower was low, so getting the correct temperature and rinsing off my shampoo took half a lifetime...Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Just average.Room nice. Good location. Traffic bad since on corner. Took a lot of time getting out of hotel. Wifi not working and calls to get help where not helpful at all.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel is great, just a couple of blocks from Union Square. Neighborhood towards the other side of Union Square is dangerous. Big lobby. Internet should be free in rooms.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Location, Big and Comfy"
The Hilton Union Square is a nice hotel. It is in a great location, close to union square, the cable cars, shopping, good food, and surrounded by awesome night life. The room was a good size. i think the double beds could be upgraded to queens. I think they were full size beds and they felt small. But they were still comfy. Everyone staff member we […] came into contact with was very nice and helpful. I will stay there again soon. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice Hotel, too many wings"
The hotel was nice, comfortable, well located (I was attending a conference at the Moscone Center). The only thing that could have remotely been considered a negative is that there are a couple of tower buildings that are a bit of a walk from the lobby/each other. But a fine hotel, I'd stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel"
the hotel is good, jsut the car parking is quite expensive.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great! Will stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed in the newly renovated tower 3. We spent minimal time in the room but the condition of the room was very good. Cleanliness was my biggest concern and they did an awesome job. Downfall way their valet parking structure was full but luckily there is a parking structure across the street for 32$ for 24 hrs. This hotel is walking distance to bars […] and shopping during the day. The only disappointment with the room was the water pressure in the shower. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Unhappy"
Booked a room for 2 double beds with a city view, received a single kind bed room with city view. Hilton front desk gave us a room with 2 double beds but had no city view that I paid extra for as they were all sold out. Unhappy overall with stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location but hotel needs some renovation"
Great location, great service especially the concierge. Free breakfast sucks, just got coupon for starbucks for $10 each for 2 people. I think we could have a better deal eating out with the $20! If you have a car, the hotel garage is very expensive at $47/day. There is actually a garage right across the hotel that charges $10 less, or go 2 blocks around […] the perimeter and for sure you will find a better deal if parking! "Are you freaking kidding me!?!?!"
A really nice hotel, but management should be suspended without pay for a week! We arrived at 6:30 pm, went to registration, and proceeded to sit in line for 30 minutes. One person working at the front desk, that by the way had atleast 12 work stations, but only one person. The normal folks line was 7 deep when I got in line, and then it grew to about […] 16 while I waited. Was thinking the HHonors line would be faster, but the poor folks in that line, which had it's own attendant, moved slower than I did. Finally after 25 minutes a second person came from out back and opened a second station. I think management handled the Friday evening rush extremely poorly. Due to the time it took to check in, it made the remaining evening before our event very rushed and stressful. Rooms and facilities were in great order, and it is a nice hotel. The folks running the front though need to work on their staffing levels. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Watch out, this is the 2nd time I've booked a room here and the room was right near the elevator, very noisy. Also we were in a tower that was renovated and this was the smallest bathroom I've seen in any hotel ever. What were they thinkingGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great stay"
Great stay Got therea bit early but they had rooms ready and offered to let me check in early. Parking is a bit pricey but the in and out privileges and easy access made it worth it. I'd recommend this hotel to friends and family looking to stay near union square.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Understaffed check in counter"
The worst check in I have ever encountered. I had to wait over ten minutes maybe more before I could reach the counter and I was first in line. At one point I didn't think there was even any staff manning the regular counter except for those lucky Hilton Honors clients. No apology, nothing.Genuine Expedia guest review

It was nice but nothing special. We were in tower one and the city view was very nice. Big hotel, very busy, the room was small in need of a remodel but clean and comfortable. Convenient location a few blocks off Union Square. I probably would not stay there again. There are so many other choices.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
