If you're reading reviews you're probably trying to find the best deal you can because San Francisco is expensive, unnecessarily expensive. You want to stay by Fisherman's Wharf but refuse to pay $200 or more per night, and you don't want to stay 20-30 minutes away near SFO . Well, you don't have to. If you have money to burn you should stop researching […] and just get a $500 per night hotel to suit your picky needs, and surely even then you'll find something to critique. Otherwise, this hotel is just fine. Aside from hotel stuff like room service, valet (parking everywhere in SF is unreasonable - it's a tourist trap!). The best thing about this hotel is the location. Buses run both ways on Van Ness and can take you to Market Street where you can transfer to go to The Embarcadero in one direction, and Haight-Ashbury in the other. The California Street cable car ends directly behind the hotel, and you can jump on that and transfer to one of the two others; Powell/Hyde takes you to Fisherman's Wharf, and Powell/Mason takes you to North Beach through a great Little Italy section where great restaurants and shops abound! A transfer to a bus here can take you to the Golden Gate Bridge. If you do SF right, you'll take public transportation everywhere. You can buy a 3-day pass at the gift shop downstairs for $22, and use all of them to go everywhere. If you consider that one ride on a street car is $6, this pass pays for itself in less than a day! this hotel was great. it has great views of the city. Great location, close to everything, on the corner of the hotel you can catch the cable car to take you to any touristy location. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were good. Best thing: Free Wifi :)

Staff was helpful and friendly. Security for parking and elevator by using room key was appreciated. On the day of checkout, we were able to leave the car in structure until 4pm. That extended our shopping and visiting ChinaTown before heading home. We would not hesitate to stay here again. My husband and I stayed for one night and enjoyed it thoroughly. Front desk clerk was exceptional. Ate dinner at the sports bar and food was satisfying and tasty, fries were perfectly cooked! I was Driving my car from Toronto, to LA. On the way I stayed at about 7 hotels. out of all, this was unsatisfactory to the extend to spend time in writing this. when I booked, the web site wanted to know whether I need breakfast. I said yes.( additional price involved- I said ok)The web site asked how many guest. I said 4. After reaching counter, […] the staff said they would provide breakfast for 2 only and we have to pay for the other 2 members of our family. The coffee in room was not enough for 4. The only think I didn't like about this property was the location. Be prepared for a long walk (on some steep hills) to Union Square or Chinatown. Fisherman's wharf you will need to take the cable cars, bus or cab.

We booked 2 nights with Holiday Inn Golden Gateway, but when we got there in the late evening, we were told there were no more rooms available. We could find other hotels ourselves, or go to a hotel they selected for us that are outside of San Francesco. No other options just had to go there. We chose The Holiday Inn Golden Gate Hotel because of it's proximity to sites we wanted to see in San Francisco, and for what I thought was a reasonable rate. That was before I learned parking was an additional $40+ per night. My fault--I should've asked ahead of time. Our room was on the 10th floor and faced Van Ness Avenue, one of the busiest streets […] in San Francisco. This might not have been a problem if the hotel had been constructed with adequate sound proofing, but as it turned out, we felt like we were sleeping ON Van Ness Avenue: loud, non-stop traffic noise, honking, sirens and yelling by homeless people across the street at a Chevron gas station fighting over who got to squeegee car windows. I was very impressed with the holiday inn. The reception staff were excellent on check in. I don’t know if you can check who did check me in but I have through work trips experienced some top end hotel and your receptionist was one of the best I have met. The rooms were lovely and clean, the pool was lovely. My only negative comment is that we had some […] clothes taken from the laundry room and no on seemed to be able to do anything to look into who had accessed the laundry room and taken the clothes. We really enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn Golden Gateway. It is 2 tram rides down to the harbour, but you can walk it in about 20-30 mins. The hotel was really comfortable, clean, staff were all very friendly. Would definately stay there again.

Dette hoellet ligger fint til i sentrum av San Fransisco. På minussiden kommer dyr parkering, mangelfull opplysning om at det er billigere å betale parkering i resepsjonen enn på parkeringsautomat. Parkeringsgarasjen var også i trangeste laget med tanke på at dette er USA. Ellers var det et hyggelig nok sted å bo om man vil være i San Fransisco.

Si van a viajar desde el SFO en metro no les recomiendo bajarse en Civic Center, no es un área muy bonita ni muy segura. Es mejor ir hasta Union Square y tomar un camión hasta el hotel. Por las avenidas California y Van Ness pasan muchas rutas que te llevan a todas partes de San Francisco...
