"To much for to little!"
It was at most a three star hotel for four hundred dollars and sixty dollars for valet. The faucets were not working correctly. The bathroom was old and wallpaper dingy. Our room was next to the ice skating which we were told that music would be playing until 10pm. However, the hotel neglected to mention that we could hear every word plus the loud speaker […] with announcer. I think they should have been more considerate. "Embarcadero location not enough for 4 stars."
I could not believe this hotel recieved such a high rating! If you want to stay in the Embarcadero, I suppose this would be a good option, however, the rooms are small & feel crowded. This would not be so bad if it had been clean! The bed looked as if the sheets had not been changed, and the bathroom was dirty, with mold in the tub! The staff was friendly, […] but the service was slooow despite only seeing a handful of other guests. Overnite parking fees of $50.00 not mentioned in reservation. Room service food mediocre. Everything is great about this hotel. We have stayed there several times. But this time we were in a room next to a very loud family that included a barking dog. The family was out all the second day but their dog remained in the room alone and it barked continuously all day and into the evening. I realize that we could have asked for a different room […] but we didn't want to pack up and move. I'm more concerned with why on earth a nice hotel like this would allow a dog in the room. I was very disappointed that they would not except my Hyatt Platinum number because I booked through expedia. I was also disappointed with the attitude. I checked in at 2.30 and was told I was too early as official checkin is 3pm. When I showed my surprise that 2.30 was considered "early" I was told they could get me a different room. "A true 3 Star hotel... At best"
We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights during the memorial weekend... Very disappointed, I always expected more from Hyatt. I had choice of other 4 stars at lower price but chose Hyatt because of the name and my past experience... Big mistake... First, the condition of the hotel: out dated (left over from 80's), old and dirty carpets and bathrooms... […] Air condition with no temperature setting!... Yes, this is supposed to be a 4 Star Hyatt! Second... I made a reservation for two adults and an 8 years old... When we were checking, I asked for a roll-in bed for my daughter... They wanted to charge $25 Extra for it...This never happened to me before, so I refused because I had specifically reserved the room for 3 people... What do they expect? all 3 of us sleep in the same King bed? We went with the other option of two twin beds... My wife and I slept uncomfortably in a twin bed. "Parking is a HUGE additional cost"
The hotel is awesome in a very great location. I would definitely recommend the hotel HOWEVER be warned the parking is OUTRAGEOUS. We were charged 57 for one night. Also we called down for our car an they said it would there in 15 minutes we went down about 10 minutes later. After 10 minutes of waiting I asked where my car was the guy told me they were […] busy and it would be here soon ( they were not busy there was only 2 other people waiting for their cars). After about a total of 30 minutes from the time I called for my car it finally got there. For just under sixty bucks a night it should have been washed and waxed and delivered promptly. "Beautiful, but Nickel and Dimed..and not Helpful."
A beautiful building, though bathrooms a bit outdated. The chamber maids were friendly, nice, and the front desk was patient with me. The Doormen were also helpful. The Concierge, as I mentioned, were programmed to only smile and give directions. Not very helpful, or able of handling anything out of the ordinary. What they did help with turned out to […] be misguided advice. Always amazes me, the more expensive the hotel, the less aminities they offer. Can go to a Comfort Inn and get free internet, a fridge for your use in the room (thiers was stocked with items at an exhorbant price w/ a steep fee to have them removed, Intenet also a fee per day). Was afraid to touch anything in the room in fear of another cost tacked on (Local calls: charged) Did not use TV in fear of a charge that I may not have noticed. This was a business trip and pennies were counted. The classroom was confortable temp (a real plus.) Even though I was not able to eat much, it was my loss as he food was exquisite. I know I have been harsh on this otherwise fine Hotel, but this was the worst trip I 've had (I travel frequently) and totally exhausted. Although this certainly is not the fault of the Hotel, it would have been nice if there was someone that had the ability to help troubleshoot for you when you are not sure what to do. Our check in experience was horrible. They refused to let my traveling companion check in since her name was not on the reservation even though I had called a week earlier and gave them her name. while I know that the Hyatt Regency in other areas of this country are unbelieveable....this hyatt leaves me to wonder as to book at others....It is old and shows signs of aging....the bathroon is very poor and old....i had to use a can of disenfectant before going in it. It had been a number of years since staying at this hotel. It seemed totally different........like financial distress. Lobby mostly empty, no entertainment of any kind, only one bar. WiFi was expected on the Lobby, after a check in their website, but no, and concierge doesn't know what is a WiFi access point. In 2012! So $9.95 per day, for just ONE DEVICE (it stack up).
