"Premium for Union Square location"
We stayed there to be with our married daughter and family who were here for a work conference. For the price, I was disappointed. The lighting in the bathroom was terrible, you had to move away from the sink to have the light on your face, lousy for shaving. The heating/cooling unit was very noisy, with a strong breeze and either blew hot or cold according […] to your temp or you had to turn it off completely. The car valet service was very nice, but you paid for it. You are paying for the location. Convenient to Union Square and surrounding shopping. The room was clean and comfortable, but seriously overpriced. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice hotel, noisy area"
The hotel staff was very nice and were quick to respond to requests. The concierge is very knowledgeable and helpful. The hotel is very nice and takes you back in time. However, the rooms are small and the walls are paper thin, so I could hear a lot of noise from the performers at Union Square (they only have a 10pm curfew). The location is perfect […] for shoppers and commute to China town and the bay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect location"
Overall the stay at the Westin was great. The concierge service was exceptionally good but upon our initial check in, there was absollutely no one at the front reception desk. I found this really strange in a hotel of this caliber. When somone finally arrived, they apologized for having me wait. We also had a dirty room service tray sitting in our hallway […] for two days.......same tray.......very odd. We definitely would stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Vintage Landmark Hotel"
In the past this hotel was very bustling and THE place to be seen if you were somebody. It is still very elegant and clearly efforts are being made to keep it repaored, attractive, and comfortable. Being directly on Union Square with the garage just across the street made it incredibly convenient. The staff couldn't have been more attentive. The only […] issue is that the rooms could use some soundproofing (hard to do in a historic building with high ceilings). The price for what we received was, I think, pretty reasonable. "Busy, busy hotel"
The hotel was very crowded and it took a long time to valet our car and to check in. Our room was lovely with a great view of San Francisco. At check out time, not ours, the elevators were slow and crowded. We got stuck on the 11th floor. A call to maintenence reset the elevator and we continued on our way. We were pleased with the luggage storage and […] car pick up when we did check out. I would stay here again!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Christmastime Madness!"
Love the location of this hotel. It was a shopping trip for our daughters and we were surrounded by a large # of stores. The staff at this hotel is extremely friendly. Expect to spend a lot of $$$$ for everything! You even get charged for store bags now. Other than Fleet Week - I have never seen the City so crowded. I would definitely stay at the Westin […] St. Francis again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Expensive food.."
This hotel is located in the middle of Union Square, great location. The room service is the most expensive I have ever had, the restaurants are very expensive and have a terrible service. Even with a reservation you won't get your table on time.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Central but way too loud!"
The hotel definitely has a boutiquey charm and the check-in lady was very nice. BUT this hotel is incredibly old with thin walls so you can hear everyone's business. Inconsiderate dolt outside plays the saxophone until the wee hours of the morning, so if you're on business or a light sleeper, this hotel ain't for you. Fortunately, I'm a heavy sleeper. […] Wish there was sound insulation. Otherwise, it's a charming hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not exactly a room with a view"
The room was charming, the bathroom small but well appointed. Love the rain shower. However, for the price I would have expected to be looking out on something other than a brick wall.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Room was pretty noisy due to it being next to the elevator. Chose your room away from the elevator if you want peace And quiet!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"westin st. francis"
Westin at Union Square was truly a pleasant experience. Front desk, valet, room, etc. were all top notch. Only draw back, price for parking at the Westin is ridiculous! Who charges you to park at their lot when you're already staying in their hotel...not cool. Ok, charge for parking, but not 50 bucks overnight!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice place.."
My friends and I booked a weekend night at Westinn. While it was right in the middle of Union Square and the room itself was very clean and comfortable, we were disappointed at the size of the room. The lady at the registration sort of tried to get us a front facing room, but couldn't. understandably, because of the rush. But three of us - and such […] a small room? not fair - the hotel could have doen better on that. But way clean, nice folks, lovely bar.. i'd stay there again, but ask to see the room first.. if I can! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"High-Class Desireable Location"
GREAT! Service is so nice, I accidentally moved the alcohol in the fridge which I didn't know I was not supposed to do and they didn't charge me for it when I told them at check-out. They gave us extra towels, soap, and comforter on request which was very kind. The only drawback was we had double beds and the wi-fi wasn't free. "Wonderful hotel still worthy of a "special" status"
This continues to be a wonderful hotel. What was sad to see was the round table in the hotel lobby (at the main entrance) where people deposited their empty Starbuck coffee cups and no one from the hotel removed the cups. It looked sloppy and not well managed for a hotel of this historical reputation.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Central San Francisco location"
Historic hotel in central and convenient location. We got last minute reservations on a crowded weekend. Our room in the old section was tiny, had an air shaft view, and smelled strangely of a stable. Housekeeping's spray was only temporarily effective in reducing the smell. Otherwise amenities were good.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great.. But bed wasn't comfortable"
I had stayed at this hotel before and it was wonderful.. However they are remodeling so only one elevator was working. I felt the room we were in wasn't what I would expect at a Westin.. The bed was really hard, flat pillows and I felt like something was really missing. On another note the staff was great!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"I would recommend staying at this hotel."
I love the location of this hotel and have stayed in it before. The room was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. I was able to get a later check out with no problem which I appreciated very much. I love the classic elegance of this hotel. The one downfall this time is that there were street bands on the corner below our room playing extremely […] loud music (drums) most of the evening. The Music sounded as if it were right in the room. I will say however that they stopped playing I guess around 10 every night but it was still distracting for when we were in the room during that time period. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel!"
We had a great experience at the Westin St. Francis. Easy (and early) check-in. Staff was very accommodating and helpful! We will definitely return.Genuine Expedia guest review
Basically neutral. Hotel was nice. View of nothing but the other side of the hotel and roof with garbage on it. Parking expensive. Service was pretty non-existant. Expensive for what it is but it's San Francisco.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fine room, tiny beds."
Great location, but no view below 10th floor. Elevators a hassle. Beds are too small for two adults. My wife and I are both smaller than average, yet were still uncomfortable. Felt like we were in a twin bed, no even a full size. Family of four is stretched to fit in two bed room. Room size allows for queens, but these are much smaller than even a […] full. "Location is its plus and negative point"
The hotel location was fantastic, right smack next to Union Square and all the shopping. Unfortunately, this is also a negative point, as traffic around the hotel is madness. Be prepared to pay $51 (and taxes) for parking overnight and for a traffic jam going to the hotel. We didn't realise the entrance was at Geary Street and had to go up a few blocks […] before we could turn back down to Powell and into Geary. We had a comfortable stay though I did find the decor dated (but this is also its charm, I suppose). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location but noisy."
Fantastic location. Nice service all around. Our room was on the 3rd floor on Union Square side which meant a lot of noise.....from the hotel's banquet room as well as Union Square itself. A higher floor would have been better. In addition, we felt nickeled and dimed when the hotel charged $15/day for internet service and when I purchased an 8 oz bottle […] of Diet Coke at the barista stand.....for $4.00. "short-sheeted"
The St. Francis is centrally located with good access to cable cars and other transportation around the city. The room was small but nice. Everything about the hotel was good until about the 3rd night into the trip. My husband got into bed and the sheets didn't go to the bottom of the bed! After two calls to the front desk, a very nice housekeeper showed […] up and changed the sheets to some that actually fit the bed. Why hotels don't use fitted sheets, is beyond me, but this short sheet incident left a bad taste for the St. Francis. Other than that, the hotel was good. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
