In a building that dates back to 1904, The Westin St. Francis on Union Square is consistently named to Conde Naste Travelers' "Gold List." A $40 million renovation in 2009 added fresh sophistication to several key areas including the Main Lobby and guestrooms in the Main Building.
The magnificent lobby, with marble columns, gilded ceilings and crystal chandeliers, leads to an arcade of exclusive shops and the famed Michael Mina Restaurant. The Clock Bar in the Main Lobby showcases columns adorned with colored glass and clocks showing the time in cities around the world.

The Unwind Hour - Reception (surcharge) held in Caruso's Tuesday-Saturday evenings. Wines from 11 of Napa Valley's premier wine producers along with gourmet appetizers.

Recreation
The on-site St. Francis Health Club & Spa includes the two-level Westin Reebok Workout Center. Cardio and resistance machines are on the main level, with a ceiling painted to resemble the sky. Weights are up a short flight of stairs. TVs are mounted on walls. Locker rooms include showers and steam rooms. Running maps are available. A per-day or per-stay surcharge applies for use of the workout center (waived for guests having a same-day spa service).
For an exhilarating waterfront walk or run with picture-perfect views, take the historic F-line streetcar (about two blocks from the hotel) to the Ferry Building Marketplace. Fuel up with gourmet snacks or organic produce from the Marketplace, then head north toward Fisherman's Wharf or south toward AT&T Park.

I had stayed at this hotel before and it was wonderful.. However they are remodeling so only one elevator was working. I felt the room we were in wasn't what I would expect at a Westin.. I love the location of this hotel and have stayed in it before. The room was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. I was able to get a later check out with no problem which I appreciated very much. I love the classic elegance of this hotel. The hotel location was fantastic, right smack next to Union Square and all the shopping. Unfortunately, this is also a negative point, as traffic around the hotel is madness. Be prepared to pay $51 (and taxes) for parking overnight and for a traffic jam going to the hotel. Everything about the hotel was good until about the 3rd night into the trip. My husband got into bed and the sheets didn't go to the bottom of the bed!
