Although there was some painting going on during my stay, the kind service well overwhelmed by any annoyance that would happen from a little wet paint. The staff was willing and able to bend to my needs; I had breakfast very early and they opened it just to accommodate me. I stayed during the off-season and was pretty much the only guest. I felt like I was going to be part of a horror movie or something. The manager acted like he upgraded me to a double room, when that's what I paid for. It was fine for a night stay, but wouldn't return. Breakfast was really scarce, but I was one of the very few guests.

Tired and worn-out hotel.Everything about this hotel is done on the cheap. The cranberry juice was cut with so much water, it essentially was pink water. The hotel had been 'renovated' recently, but only partially, and with a complete lack of integrity for continuity. They kept the old paint colors where they could, and painted over construction patches […] with entirely different colored paint on the same walls. The only way to get into our room was to literally kick the bottom of the door to force it to open. The tub did not drain, and there was hair from the last guest in the tub and sink. The bedspreads, curtains, wall art and carpet have to be from the early 80's. The only positives were the firm mattresses and the close proximity to Newport. I have a child in college nearby, so I'll travel to the area frequently, but will never stay in this hotel again. Read more

Although not in Newport proper, this property is convenient to just about anything you want to visit. If you've been in the area before and know your way around, it's a good fit if you want to save a buck. Morning breakfast bar (with make-them-yourself waffles) is a cut above the usual "continental breakfast." The "pool" is about the size of a large […] bathtub, but you didn't come here to swim that much. I stayed here two years ago, shortly after the current management took over, and the improvement is obvious. They have obviously gotten their act together. Read more

Very satisfied with this motel. We have stayed in many to be sure to compare it with. The room was wtihout problems. Comfortable. One problem I noticed was when it rained the 1st night it made a heck of a noise hitting the heating/cooling unit. Perhaps a cover or something to quiet it ? The breakfast is also worth mentioning. The wafles are very nice, […] my compliments. Many larger-fancier places do not have this. One company in particular had an extremely bad setup. Sure, have seen better & improvements would not be difficult, but it still is noteworthy & worthy of a "good job". Read more
